That's rather impressive! 3'9"? I wish I had enough experience to jump that high! Unfortunately, my family has had a bit of financial problems, so I haven't been able to ride for quite some time. I can begin taking lessons again, though - my father now has a job!

Fourth place? That's wonderful! I would compete, if only my family had enough money. Maybe one day. c:

Did you loose your balance? I had an awful experience that spooked me badly when I was a beginner rider. I was cantering toward a row of jumps and I lost both of my stirrups. At a canter. Jumping. And for a young equestrian like myself [at the time], I panicked. I somehow managed to stay on, though. It really made me proud that I had been able to keep my balance. The incident really raised my confidence, although for most people it would have probably left them feeling a bit reluctant to jump again.

That's wonderful! If you felt your position was great this time, wait until you get a chiropractor! Then your posture will be even more beautiful! I'm glad to see that you were proud of your performance, and that you enjoyed the lesson although your back was sore after. c:

I get to go to a riding camp next week! We are required to help the younger riders groom their horses and tack up, and we have more freedom as intermediate riders. They even have a pool where we can swim! And keep in mind that this is a regular barn where you can take lessons. c:

I do think he could easily be nearly blind. When I ride I notice any new noise causes him to stop and stand stock still until he can identify what's around him. If I change direction or pattern he slows down and becomes very hesitant until he understands the new pattern and where he's going. However I do think he has some of his sight, if very little, as he recognizes the gate that takes him back to his pen and he recognizes a few other bits and bobs.

I magically somehow managed to keep my balance and stay in the saddle. Being a tiny little cross-rails helped as the jump wasn't much of a jump and I did fall back a bit but over all I felt good about it. However it has made me just a touch apprehensive in the jumping arena now, I'm afraid he'll do the same as before and not listen to me and just go over a jump without my permission. I felt much more relaxed after this lesson though as he behaved himself very well.

I think once I can get myself to a chiropractor I'll feel so much better and hopefully see only more and more improvement.

Horse camp sounds like awesome fun. I've always wanted to go but we never had the money while I was young. Now I'm over the age limit for camp. >> But it's not stopping me from trying to experience everything that I can now.

@ walĸιngdιѕaѕтer » ; Thank you! Yeah, it was so fun to jump that high. It was during a puissance, we probably started around 60cm or something and the last jump was 120cm. I haven't jumped that high since, but I hope I get to again!

Thank you again! I hope you get to compete soon. I'm planning on going to an off-grounds competition at the end of August, fingers crossed that I'll be able to!

Not much horsey news, but I've got a full time job now and start on Wednesday. That will be fun except I'll be working Tuesday through Saturday so horse riding is now moved to Sunday, blegh. Thrown me all out of sync as I had just gotten a routine going with lessons and as you all will find out I am very particular about having a routine. But this will get me closer to my dream of importing my cat and my horse so it's all for the best!

As for my jumping, the highest I've jumped is either 3'1" or 3'2". I can't remember which. c: My favorite jumps are oxers and verticals - I find oxers the most difficult though, even though I love them.

As long as your instructor isn't one to hold his or her students back, you'll be able to jump that high when he or she feels you and your horse are ready. c:

I'm going to begin after I get my new boots. My old pair doesn't fit, and there are no decent tack shops where I am currently residing, so I'm going to have to order them from Equi-Star online.

Well, at least he acknowledges a few things. Does he fully rely on your movements and signals, or is he rather independent?

I'm sure you'll feel a bit more comfortable once your bond with Ben improves a bit. It's good that he's been well - behaved lately. When I was a younger rider, I rode this one pony that pulled me into another horse's open stall and started eating their food. I defiantly know what it's like to ride a badly mannered horse. :\

I wish you best of luck with that. I'm certain you'll see much more improvement when your back gets taken care off, and I bet you'll feel even more comfortable in the arena.

That's good. I'm not sure if you're aware, but some of the best riders in the world started at an older age. c:

I have bad news. My grandmother is in the hospital with a heart or spinal infection. Her doctor isn't sure which one it is yet. Because of this, I wasn't able to go to camp on Monday.

She is very ill - she would have died if my aunt [who is a nurse practitioner and is overseeing her labs and tests] had not called an ambulance. She getting better, and although I don't have the best connection with her, it is very hard for me to see her like this.

@ walĸιngdιѕaѕтer » ; I actually jumped 120cm today!!! Highest I've ever jumped now (: I won the puissance we were doing, and I also won best dressage rider So now I've jumped up to/around that height twice!

I've been really really happy with my jumping, you know a puissance is one thing; doesn't necessarily show your skill compared to what you jump on a day to day basis, if you get what I mean. Like, you could be a not-so-good rider and still jump high in a puissance. It's nice to say that I've jumped 120cm though, haha xD But what I meant about being happy with my jumping is that I've been doing about 80cm-1m (2'7" - 3'3") consistently, and learning a lot while doing so.

Well, I hope you go and buy some new boots soon! ;D Haha. Let us know when you do!
