Chapter One
I have never felt so much pain in my life. I haven't been touched with blade, fist, or whip. There has been a giant crack in my heart ever since he left me. It's not what you think. He was killed.
Long ago, when I was but seventeen and very skilled at sewing great creations, my father had assigned me to marry a beautiful and noble prince. My hand was the best when thread was given. Though the prince had great structure for life, another man had caught my eye. His name was William.
His hair was that as fine as a horses and brown as the darkest oak. But his eyes captured me most. Their beauty was unmatched by all in the land. They changed colors. Gray to light blue and green, eyes like a rainbow. Everyday in the stalls we met after seeing the prince. He would wrap his musculer arms around me and hold me close, speaking to me in French, his native language. But one day the prince found us and grabbed my William by the arm, wripping him from my grasp and shoving him against the door.
"Do you love him?" The prince had asked me, glaring right through him.
"Yes," I had whispered and then prince threw him to the floor.
"Then we will send him out to boat on the trecherous seas."
I watched from the harbor as his boat was pushed out into the ocean. A few weeks later a skeleton William's height was found. I spent hours in the castle mourning my dead love. Now I stand in my dress, horror in my eyes. How could I marry the man who killed the one I loved? Or maybe I should blame the ocean. But that was then and this is now.
My life is more difficult than it seems. I am a Princi (prin-sigh), a women born to become a princess and weild magic to protect her kingdom. A Princi's duty is to learn magic from the last Princi and wield everything or anything to protect the kingdom. Today I will become that princess.
The door cracks slightly and I hear Unua walk into the room, whispering, "Arrix? It's almost time." I motion for her to leave and look at myself in the mirror. The stunning white laced dress should not belong on me like it does. My slim figure fits with the dress, the short sleeves covered in lace and the dress above my knees and very frilly. Unua comes back into the room to fill up the water for me to drink out of. A slam is heard as I stare at the mirror. The impact of the door shutting was too hard. The mirror falls to the floor and breaks with a loud crack. Broken mirrors are bad luck.
I look into the shaking water, seeing my feeble reflection. It was time to go. I lift my gaze from the bowl of water and step out the door. Unua is there to escort me outside into the courtyard. When I see the light I gasp. Down the isle are the most stunning women holding the red rose, sign of love. Piano's ring throughout the yard as I walk, seeing hundreds of smiling faces at me; my parents look proud. They had never met William and I am sure that if they had this horrible moment would not be happening.
The prince turns toward me, his long blonde hair and stunning green eyes fit for any fairytale prince, but this time I know this is no fairytale. I stop and gaze at my feet, unable to look my love's killer in the eye. I can see his lips lift into a gorgeous smile, one that should not be meant for me. Birds sing as if a happy occasion. Everyone thinks this is a happy occasion, everyone but me.
I stand lost in thought for most of the service until I hear the words kiss the bride. Prince Reltis leans down, his breath warm and inviting. His lips touch mine, soft, tender, only making me want more. Then I see William in front of me, then the prince is back. I pull away, disgusted that I even wanted to go deeper into this relationship. Reltis takes my arm in his and brings me down the isle, rice and grain being showered on our heads. It's all I can do to smile.
The sleek stone walls enslave me again as we sit at a long table. Reltis takes my hand. "I am sorry, Arrix. This must be hard for you." Though he says this, I see no concern in his eyes. The scent of honey and ginger wafts up my nose and I collapse into him again, feeling his lips once more. Reltis places his hand onto my back and pulls me deeper into his spell. When I pull away I feel dumbstruck, but in a weird sort of love. "But I can tell it won't be a problem," he breaths and I turn away again, ashamed.
