Cosplaying

Postby Fiery Gatoh » Fri Apr 09, 2010 11:58 pm

I'm planning to go to an pop culture convention later on in the year It'll be my second time going to the event, and I'm considering trying to cosplay (if that is the right way to explain it). Last time I went there were lots of people dressed up as all different characters, and it was really fun. I was just wondering if there is anyone on CS who has any experience, and if so, could share their experiences with me. I'd just really like to know whether it is the right thing for me, and I think the best way is to hear other people's stories ;)

Maybe I should go as a Chicken Smoothie pet! It would certainly be original xD

It's very fun cosplaying, people don't know what you really look like (according to how much detail you put in your costumes, if you put a lot of makeup, and a wig on knowbody will know you) you get to be in a lot of pictures, videos (sometimes) and just get to do FUN things! I'd say go with cosplaying, I'm working on my third cosplay outfit for this year only hahah (and I have another one already started, but not gonna be used until next year)

Fiery a lot of people find it interesting, try to cosplay, if you like it, you like it, if you don't then okay ^^

"pop culture convention"? That sounds interesting. What does one of these conventions entail?

I've cosplayed twice and and it is BUNCHES of fun. 83 I get some pictures taken. (I'm not really that good since I just started last year. ;3; ) And I get to go to meets. (Omg, they're so fun, but sometimes, I wish I can take some pictures too. ;A; ) And and there are always games at the meets!

But I think it's the friends you meet that make cosplay worthwhile. I mean, seriously, you're out in public, dressing like a total weirdo, so it's always great to have another weirdo stick next to you. So, then, it won't look that weird. xD;

But, I think it's the sewing part that really makes me enjoy cosplay. I like to do stuff with my hands, you know, and I really loveee making stuff. I'm a project geek. Gimme something insane to do and I'll figure out a way to do it! So.. yah. ;w;

I have so many costumes I want to make.. ;3; I just need to get off my butt and do it.

May I ask, what convention are you going to?

I've never cosplayed before, but I hope to in the future. :3 I've heard stories and experiences from friends and it sounds like tons of fun! I'm sure I won't be cosplaying until a few years from now though. I'll be excitedly waiting though. ^^

Cool. I wanna try and cosplay her.
Here's a cosplay of it from Japan.

I already got a website on it, but it costs like $70's. But it is kinda cheap though.
Mainly it would mainly cost $100+?

I love VOCALOID x3

I've never cosplayed before, but I'm planning on doing a Hetalia cosplay before the school year's over and wear it to school. I'm going to do it with a friend who wants to do a Vocaloid cosplay. XD We're seriously planning on wearing them to school. XP ((They should follow school dress code, with the outfit I have in mind...))

From what I've heard, it's tons of fun. ^ ^ I'm currently trying to decide if I'll actually get my lazy butt up and make my own or go to Goodwill like a friend suggested. XD Or buy one.

But you probably don't want to hear about what I'm going to do. XD Unfortunatly, since I've never cosplayed before, I can't give you any experiences other than what I've heard, but....
I'm not sure if you've ever heard of this guy: http://mrkittycosplay.deviantart.com/ He's actually located in Australia....He's practically a professional cosplayer and his stuff is amazingly awesome. ^ ^ I'm sure he has some interesting experiences and hints.... :)

VOCALOID is so bomb.

I've always wanted to be Len. ;3;
Or just like.. be in a group and and we'll join other groups and geek it out by dancing and singing.

Yaaaah. So fun~

@asiandragon; Ohohohhhhhh. I'm doing a Hetalia cosplay tooo~
We're planning to go as the Ottoman Empire in RPG form. :'3333
So then, I can finally say, "Are you Hungary for some Turkey? `Cause there's a lot of Greece in it!" and scene. pfft.

Nice! I'm planning on being China~ I'm actually Chinese, so I wouldn't have to buy a wig, which is good...those things can be expensive! D;

Haha! That line made me laugh....XD

I cosplayed China beforee~ Used my mom's old high school uniform and voila! Instant China Military Cosplay.

Sometimes, I just lovee what you can find in the garage.

Sadly, my hair's too short now. Since I just love to chop it off. I'll probably buy some wig extensions, create wefts, and glue them onto clips to lengthen my hair, if I ever want to be China again. Cheap cheap solutions~
