Surprised, she flicked her indigo gaze up to his face as he leaned against a wall. Ryu shrugged. In her immediate, conscious mind, all was well. She didn't need anyone. She didn't need anything. But through all of her learned traits of iciness, there was still a basic yearning for comfort that all humans possessed. She said nothing for a few moments, then broke the silence. "I'm fine," Ryu said, her voice breaking a bit. Mortified at the unsteadiness in her voice, Ryu brought a hand up to her mouth. She had always been able to lie flawlessly, what was so different about this time?
