[The Great ME!]

He felt like he couldn't breathe, his heart pounding sporatically in his chest. It sounded like there was shouting around him and instinctively he withdrew away from them, fearing the worst, as was most often the case, trying to draw adequette breath around the lump of terror that seemed to have lodged itself in his throat. Everything seemed hazy in his vision and he knew he was forgetting something...something important...but he couldn't grasp the bit of knowledge of whatever it was.
The complete and unadulterated fear that had him by it's greedy claws felt as though it was suffocating him, closing in like the looming shadow of a predatory Beast, a shadow that covered everything and made him blind.
'They're coming to hurt you...just like everyone else...I've been telling you they would...' A voice in his head seemed to chime, sickly-sweet. 'They're coming for you and they'll try and destroy you, like all the others. They've been waiting for this chance...biding their time...and they've found it...they're coming in for the kill...'
Even as these words seem to ring in his head, he felt hands on his shoulders and lashed out, fighting like a man possessed, his single blue eye wide and glazed, not really seeing anything around him.
"NO!!!"
He heard voices but didn't pay any heed to them. What did it matter, anyway? Whatever they had to say was always pointless...all they wanted to do was torment him.
'Fight them. They'll only hurt you, continue hurting you, you've got to fight...fight them off, kill them if you have to. Kill them and they'll go away. Just like old times, right?'
He fought harder but whoever it was had him trapped, arms encircling him, and he fought as though his life depended on it, which it seemed it might have, or at least within his panic-stricken mind. He shrieked and cursed at the one trapping him, the one who was going to hurt him, just like everyone else had done, but the figure only held him securely, not giving him any leeway. Darkness swam at his vision, still unable to breath, gasping like a beached fish.
"...let...me...gooo..." He wheezed in a desperate and pleading whine. He felt the figure moving back and forth, like that of a rocking chair or something even as his strength gave way and his consciousness started to slip, his breathing still strained but getting easier.
"Shhh...it's alright...you're safe. I've got you."

Meh, more or less something for a manga I want to do. I've been in the mood to draw my character Faulklin a lot lately.
