Hmm.. The Hunger Games and Braveheart soundtracks are good to listen to. x3 I'm trying to finish a story right now and the Braveheart soundtrack is what I listen to in order to write it. Personally, some of the Braveheart songs are willowy, and that's good for me because this story is set in a forest/mountain area.

See, I'm horrible with names. You can ask Rose xD. The names I pick never seem to flow very well >.< But I like unusual names and names no one uses a lot.

One thing that really bothers me about writing is at first I get a plot idea think it's a good one, then I start writing it, and I end up trashing it because it doesn't work. I haven't finished a story in over two years, and I'm having trouble finishing the one I'm working on. >.<

Oh snap. Trust me, I.understand that so well. As much as I fall in love with my stories, I always end up dropping off the charts at some point. The farthest that I've gone in a story was a well written five chapters. But that's it. I couldn't continue. I lose muse and started another. I get it, and unless it is of course a school project, I've never finished chapter stories. I have finished short stories though, those are easier.

I was debating whether I should have Tyrus be a traitor and tries to get Kar killed or if he should just send back information about Kar's abilities to his master.

Traitor. Traitor sounds good. It would be more of a greater 'reveal' and a shocker in the story. But sending information back could also be a big plot point, it just depends how you play it.

What about having him do both? He can send information first, then try to get her killed. Of course, that's just a suggestion x3.

Maybe he's sending information, and then when he has all that he needs, his orders change and he has to kill her?

Also, on the names thing; I like names like Faith and Hope and Destiny, especially Faith, that's probably my main one. Hope might be good for a sweet character though. Also my friend used Silence as a name, and I think that would be cool too.

Well, Rose, I'm a bit late in this name conversation, but I have a few suggestions.

You could use the name of a jewel for your character, since I'm sure in times like that, anyone would yearn for the peace and value of a precious jewel- such as Amethyst, Sapphire, Onyx, Aquamarine, Opal, Kyanite(Kya for short), Emerald, Citrine, or Jadeite(Jay-dite)Jade for short). The rest that I was reading sort of reminded me of the names of chemicals that you always read in the labels on food/drink products- Kyanite and Jadeite were the line with that one.

Well... I don't imagine in any apocalypse very many people coming right down the road(if there are even a back-road/cowpath left in the world, that is) in a car. You could name them after a type of car, I guess... Like Sonata or Ascari.

The only other thing I can think of is making your own name- just letting your mind wander, mixing words and sounds to make something you like. I have made names such as Esperance and Pera, both of which I just randomly wrote down and loved immediately.

Just looking up a word and looking at all the different meanings in different languages can find a pretty, uncommon name.
For example, words in all different languages that have 'beautiful' in their meaning:
Akila, Ammara, Odara, Siran, Ederra, Omorose, Fayre, Calisto, Calithea, Nuala, Hiromi, Mika, Alina, Karika, Cinnia... You get the point. There are tons of names out there with meanings like that.

Other than that, everyone has had great ideas- I don't think there are many more ways you could go looking for the right name. Did you know that 'Siri' is actually a Scandinavian name that means 'Beautiful victory'? It'd be a kind of oxymoron to be used in an apocalyptic book- writing of disarray and disaster while the main character's name means almost the complete opposite.
