Jasper kept her in his arms. "I know, baby. I know. But I'm still here, alright?" He assured her. "And like you saod, everything will work out."

"But Jasper, if he'd killed you, I would've gone with you," she sobbed into his chest. "I know it'll work out, but the thought of losing you is too much."

Jasper shook his head. "No. You'd have to go on for the kids." He told her, holding her tightly.

Cara whimpered softly and fell silent, just sobbing into his chest.

Jasper rocked her gently, not shushing her, or telling her anything. He just let her cry.

After a while, Cara sniffled and stopped crying, just laying in his arms. She managed to croak out, "I love you so much."

Jasper had laid down with her, and was stroking her arm. "I love you, too, baby." He only called her baby when she was upset, or when there was a stressful situation at hand. Both were occurring in this instant.

Cara took a deep breath, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. "I'm sorry, emotions just...took over."

Jasper shook his head. "Don't be sorry. I understand."

She wrapped her arms around his torso and inhaled. "Thanks for being patient with me."
