Dragon studied the grave for a few moments, his attention caught on the image engraved in the stone. "Who did that? Whoever did must have wrenched a claw," Dragon observed with a slight amount of astonishment passing over his otherwise calm expression. "Regardless, it's nice to know that Aurlo did, indeed, get the burial he deserved." The white tom dipped his head to the resting site of the leader, looking up after a few seconds with a new sense of relief.
Somewhere behind the rider you've become, the hours of practice you've put in, the coaches who pushed you, the hard falls you've taken, the money you've spent, the miles you've hauled, the sweat, the tears, the blood, the blisters, the ripped jeans, the lame horse, the crazy horse, the "are you serious?" horse, and everything in between... Somewhere behind all of that is the fearless kid who fell in love with the sport, the horse, the life, and never looked back.

Dragon looked at Teine, and then her paws. "And your claws didn't fall out? Jeesh, you have more persistence than I do when it comes to stuff like that," Dragon remarked, looking back at the gravestone again.

Dragon's eyes widened slightly; he didn't know what to make of the suddenly emotional she-cat sobbing beside him. Figuring that if he tried to say something reassuring he'd only exacerbate the problem, so he simply sat next down to Teine and lightly flicked his fail over to her back in comfort.

"It's a shame you didn't have time to, I'm sure he would've loved hearing why," Dragon meowed, attempting to spit out something even vaguely comforting. While he did pride himself on being intellectually quick, he found he was rather lacking when it came to emotions and just she-cats in general. "And as for Friday, I never really understood her motive for killing Aurlo... She just did..."

"I'm sure he wasn't annoyed with you," Dragon protested, thinking once again about Teine's claim. Was Friday power-hungry? Or was she just a cat that had turned into a maniac and now enjoyed killing? Who could tell?
