My mother had warned me never to go near the trenches. There were monsters in the deep, giants with black scales and blind eyes. They'd eat me up like nothing at all, feet first so they could listen to me scream. I believed her. My mother was the wisest hippocampi in all the seven seas, or so I thought.

It's a really fantastic book series. Anyways, the two main characters are twins and have the whole sun/moon thing going on. There's a prophecy involved that has to do with "one to destroy the earth and another to save it" et cetera, et cetera.

It was early in the morning and Gabe was about to go on his morning walk. "See you later mom! Going on my run!" Gabe surely knew his mom would over-worry, so he told her every time he went on his run. His first stop was the dock, where boats where less crowded and he got to see the glistening ocean. When he arrived he noticed something unusual. There had to be some boats, but there wasn't. He had a sudden urge to look in the water when he saw a flick of some sort of tail. "W-what?" he said feeling a sudden faster beat to his heart. He decided he would go into the water and take a quick look around. He took his shirt off and went in. After a while of searching he gave up, and came to a conclusion of thinking it was just a Baramundi fish. Right when he was swimming up the shore he saw something so, beautiful..and nothing he haven't seen, so eye catching... He surely knew they weren't real, but--mermaids weren't in just fairy tales.
