"I will say, though, that since you went to all the trouble of waking me up, you must really, really love to test."- GLaDOS

Username:Azure23Rune Dragon's Name:Caroline; If you played the second game, you would know about her. If you did not play the second Portal, she is named after a character that plays a key part in the Portal‘s back story.
I chose this name because I really love the character she becomes and this Rune‘s design reminds me of her. I also wanted to give this Rune a name from the game just to tie the whole theme together.Gender:Caroline, despite the female name, is genderless. Due to being mechanical, she was not built with a gender in mind, but the scientists, referred to her as 'she'. She seems to display more feminine personality traits as well. Will you breed her?Honestly, I do not know. After having the PM conversation with Benathorn, I thought her babies would be interesting. I would have to say 'yes' because I love baby Rune dragons, however I will be INCREDIBLY picky about her mate. It might just be one of my own in the future.Where will you keep her? And what will you do?She will chill in my signature for a while, displaying her awesomeness and advertising for these awesome dragons. Then she will join the thread I am making for my other wonderful Runes. I will, of course, draw pictures for her. Hers might not be the best, however, because she seems so difficult to draw. I will also continue her story there. She will have much love and I will never forget this beauty.Reason:This may take awhile, just saying.
First I wanna say I absolutely ADORE this Rune. It was definitely worth the wait. She/he is absolutely GORGEOUS and you did such an amazing job, way beyond any expectations I ever had. I love how it features my favorite colors, gold and white, and the black just makes the colors pop even more. I love how you made it mechanical, yet gave it a liveliness that made it seem alive and real like any other rune. I love the markings, the eye, the mechanical limbs, EVERYTHING about this Rune. I'm not exaggerating, I really do love this rune. The companion cube just seems to bring it all together, and give it a sort of reminiscent look.
Portal has to be one of my all time favorite games. I beat it six times in a row before my friends had to drag me away from it. I really, really love the game, and it never gets old. I would love to have a rune that is based off of my favorite game. This Rune captures all of the awesome of the game, the technology, the stark colors, the companion cube, with out being the total rip off of a character. I just love that about this. I also rather enjoyed how you gave it a Portal-like personality. The ability to portal if frightened, but with the curiosity of a computer that is ready to study and test.
Can you tell I adore this Rune? I honestly connected with this Rune from the minute I saw her, I actually dreamed about this Rune while I was waiting for her to be made. I was seriously excited when I got back from my trip and she was posted shortly after. I will definitely give my best effort that this Rune deserves. I really hope my rambling hasn’t bored you away from my form yet, because the fun is just getting started."Look at you. Sailing through the air majestically. Like an eagle. Piloting a blimp."-GLaDOS
In General:Caroline is a very curious Rune dragon. She loves to explore and discover anything new be it places, things, and even people. She will extensively study anything new she finds, especially humans. Caroline is typically very joyful and playful, especially when she is outside. However, she knows when to be serious, especially whenever there is a dangerous task at hand.
Caroline is intelligent and learns quickly, especially from her mistakes. She is stubborn, and when she sets her mind to something, it is hard to deter her. After her task is finished though, she typically goes back to being joyful and even a little hyper. Caroline is loyal, and friendly. However, she can be just a little shy when you first meet her, and will portal away from you several times. Once she realizes you will not hurt her, she will absolutely adore you. She loves to make new test subjects friends and will forever be trustworthy to those who gain her friendship.Likes:Humans- Caroline has always had a fascination with humans. Whenever she meets a new one, she studies them intensely. She always seems to be indifferent to each one she meets and shows neither malice nor kindness.
Plasma Balls- Despite hating lightning, she loves Plasma balls. Every time she comes across one, she becomes entranced and will hardly move unless they are shut off. It‘s a curious site but very amusing.
Techno Music- Well, any kind of upbeat music. She loves to dance and will hop about, bouncing her companion cube in beat with the music. Sometimes she will trill and chirp happily along with the music.
Nature- After being stuck in a lab her entire life, she seems to enjoy being outside. She will roll about in the grass, climb trees, and just sit in the sunshine. The only thing she hates about is rainy days, and this only because she cannot go outside.Dislikes:Lightning- Storms can be very dangerous to any electronic and Caroline is no different. If she ever got hit, it could prove fatal. If a storm is coming, she will typically stick to being inside.
Birds- She really, honestly hates birds. There is no none reason why, and every time she sees one, she will chase it way. She seems highly agitated whenever one is near.
Being Alone- She always has her companion cube with her, but if she is ever truly along she tends to get a little sad and seems almost depressed. She doesn‘t mind being alone, as long as she has her cube with her. However, she does love to just snuggle and generally just be close to her human."That's funny, I don't feel corrupt. In fact, I feel pretty good."-GLaDOS
Story:"Is anyone there?"The red laser scanned the area slowly, almost lazily, searching for the faintest of movements. The pure white, oval shaped device that controlled beam seemed small and harmless, and yet it held a nasty secret. Twin panels popped from it's sides exposing machine guns. It began to rapidly fire at a fleeing shape. The shots ceased as a oval opening appeared underneath the turret. It fell through and immediately spazzed out before shutting off.
The culprit of the bizarre opening looked at the turret with curiosity. It‘s bright, shutter-like dilated and expanded as it studied the device much like a child studying an insect. The little creature eventually lost interest and continued through the room.
Her metal claws ticked softly against the clean, tile flower, and her joints whirred as the gears shifted and moved under her metal flesh. Her eyes shifted around cautiously, but she seemed to carry a carefree air. She even began to balance her trusty companion cube on her nose as she shuffled down that hall.
However, her visage became all business as she turned the corner. Her tail lashed her tail in annoyance before scanning the room for the right path.
This was the highlight of her days, running through room to room, finding each solution so she continue down the endless hallways and on to new rooms. Some were challenging, and some could even be deadly. Turrets, acid water, endless pits, and at one point even a deadly neurotoxin that made her optical sensors go crazy and she had to run the course almost blind.
Why did she do this all? She was curious. Almost insanely curious. What was beyond the hallway? What was after this next room? Who was making these rooms and would she ever see them? Would she see anyone else at all? These questions and more fueled her curiosity and drove her on.
She ran unlimited courses and thwarted countless perils. With a flick of her head, she would cast portals and push on. Her ever floating companion cube her only friend. She never dreamed of seeing what else was out there, other than tests…until she found the window.
She would have passed it, would have ignored it and continued on but the flutter of shadows caught her eye. She looked up curiously at the small, high window. What was that? With a flutter of wings, she was perched on the sill. Her eyes wide as she tried to take in the unknown. It was different, strange, alien. She loved it. She became absorbed with taking in the new sights. Her computerized brain immediately telling what it all was. Trees, grass, sky, birds, deer, the list went on and on. She could barely keep up!
She flopped to the tiled hallway, shivering in excitement and fear. Her wings fluttering with renewed energy. She had a new purpose other then running and solving. She wanted to discover. She wanted to escape. And so her glorious fight for freedom began.
It was tough trying to escape and took many tries. She quickly figured out she could not shoot portals through the glass. She turned to brute force instead. She threw everything at the glass. Cubes, turrets, even her own Companion Cube. Nothing could break it. She tried directing turret bullets and lasers at the window. Nothing seemed to work, but she never gave up. She was too stubborn to quit. She stared intensely at the window, her eyes narrowing with thought. She allowed herself to smirk ever so slightly as a plan slowly formed. She scampered quickly down the hall, her companion cube in tow. Desperate times, called for desperate measures.
It seemed to take her forever before she found the rocket launching turret. It was tucked down, inactive but she refused to be deceived. As soon as she entered the room, it whirred to live. Like any other turret, it‘s bright red laser began searching for any movement. It chimed softly as it locked onto her, at let loose a powerful rocket. She hopped nimbly aside and grinned as the rocked shot into the portal she had placed behind her. It continued traveling and crashed solidly into the window with an earsplitting crash. She launched herself through the portal, grinning as the smoke cleared. The window was broken! She was free! She soared through the air and landed heavily outside, the sun shining down on her metal body. He eyes were wide with curiosity as she checked out her new surroundings. She was in awe as she tried to take in everything at one, her mind was overloaded with the new sights and sounds. However, she quickly snapped back to herself, and started walking away from the building, away from her old life. She had so much more to discover…and study.
You want your freedom?
Take it
