Moonshade blinked, hurt shining in her eyes. She took one step back towards him, begging him to stay. "No, Sectretgrudge. Please, that's not... not what I meant-" She was cut off by a sharp yowl for help. Her eyes widened and as she heard Secretgrudge yell her apprentice's name she understood. I'm such an idiot! I should've known she was in trouble after not responding for so long! She let out a hiss of annoyance and shot after the silvery tom.
As she watched him inspect Sagepaw quickly and attack, she decided to see if she was alright. She looked battered and Moonshade felt her heart jump up her throat. She blinked with shock to see the white she-cat lying so still. "Sagepaw?" She nudged the pregnant apprentice, almost forgetting they were nearly the same age. No response. She felt like she was failing her - she had been the one who found her and taken in to Wishclan. And now she let her get hurt? "Sagepaw!" her voice had risen now. She buried her face in her white fur and closed her eyes. Suddenly, she pulled away. A heartbeat? She was alive! Just unconscious. She let out a shaky breath. Thank Starclan. Now she could see her fragile chest move up and down slightly and shook her head. The dark tabby licked her forehead affectionately and whispered, "We'll get that stupid thing for you, Sagepaw." Then, she stood, her breath quickening in her rage that it had hurt Sagepaw. She charged at the mother, letting out a loud screech of anger and jumped over Secretgrudge to land on it's high back, digging her claws in it's flesh. Her dark eyes glittered with battle and she snarled fiercely as she sank her fangs into it's shoulder, feeling it start to kick to shake her off in it's pain. But Moonshade never gave up a fight and held on tightly; biting another area now, harder.

Spiderfrost walked silently into the clearing to Sagepaw's body and then to the fight going on.

"Sagepaw...You wont be able to do anything in that state." she muttered in annoyance at her futile attacks.

Folding her tail over her paws she waited for the fight to loose its charm.


Secretgrudge bit into the thick neck of the brown creature, his fangs barely made a dent in the skin. But it was bothersome enough to jolt the giant into shock and throw him off to run away from the forest.

Moonshade hadn't seen Secretgrudge from below as she scratched and bit the creature as much as she could, but she felt it start to run off. She started to panic, trying to figure out how to jump off. As it bolted away, she let go and brushed against an oak tree it past as she landed and let out a yowl filled with pain. She landed hard, rolling a few times. The dark warrior stood after a few moments and stood on a limp; hissing when she put her weight on the paw that had smashed into the tree trunk. She tried ignoring the pain as she padded over to Sagepaw and noticed Spiderfrost had reappeared. She blinked, eyes clear and filled with mystery. She stood over her apprentice and sniffed her fur.
"We need to take her back to camp," she said, panting from the fighting. She looked at Secretgrudge, but decided not to wait for an answer. She was deputy; she made the orders. She lifted the white she-cat gently by the scruff and decided it would only hurt more to drag her through the forest. She then lifted her onto her back, noticing now that she actually felt heavier... Her kits. She smiled inwardly at the thought and stood slowly when she got her up. "Let's go," she meowed firmly and made her way back to camp.

Spiderfrost spoke up then as she quickly walked in front of Moonshade.
"Dont move her so carelessly, set her back down so i can check for broken bones. If there are any i need to reset them before she is moved!" the Medicine Cat reprimanded sharply.

"Secretgrudge, go find some stiff bark that has fallen off of any nearby trees & ivy too." she ordered the warrior. Spiderfrost looked across the visinity and locked eyes with the clearly lost and confused Sagepaw whose pelt was littered with stars. She twitched her tail in annoyance for her out of body experience. It was going to be troublesome to revive her if she was this injured.


Before he was even able to say a word of concern for his deputy Spiderfrost snapped her demands at him. He glanced at Moonshade, his eyes silently held his concern for her after seeing her limp back into the area. Nonetheless he nodded to the young Medicine Cat.
"I'll see what i can find..." he grunted.

Moonshade stopped in front of her medicine cat, flicking her ear. She laid Sagepaw down gently, without any words. She looked away. Should've thought of that... she scolded herself silently. She sighed, licking her hurt paw, and pricked her ears as she listened to Spiderfrost instruct Secretgrudge. She stood at once, quickly adding, "I'll help," before Spiderfrost could protest. She padded along Secretgrudge, but walked a little way behind him; her own face a few mouselegths away from his. She hardly limped, though it stung and wanted her leg to seem like no big deal.
She glaced at him, and padded along in silence for a bit before saying quietly, "I never got to finish what I was saying..." She looked down as she spoke, not looking him in the eye. "I had wanted to say that I didn't think you'd want them so quickly. It was too much happening at once, Secretgrudge. I wanted to tell you... That I do want them. Soon." She finished softly, still looking away and her heart pounded in anticipation for what he'd respond with.

"I dont want them." He said awkwardly as he walked by her, careful to stay by her in case she stumbled over her injured paw.
"Kits are....not something I'm comfortable with." he admitted.


Spiderfrost breathed slowly as she started her examination of the early queen. She started with the neck, and then the spine.

The dark she-cat blinked. "Oh.." she mumbled lowly. She still looked at the ground. Not exactly the answer she had wanted. What was she thinking? Of course she wouldn't have a family. "...Well, I guess that's fine." She tried to hide the disappointment in her eyes and focused on keeping her weight off her hurt leg to keep from feeling hurt. She spotted an old tree a few fox-lengths away from them and nodded to it, indicating the bark they had to get. She ripped off the peeling, old bark with strong force, but it wasn't hard to take off. Strip by strip she peeled; soon she had enough and hoped he'd get enough. After a long while of silence she burst out sharply, "But wouldn't it be different if you knew they were yours? Why can't you give it a chance?" She regretted saying that at once and looked away, shutting her eyes. With a sigh, she turned away, back facing him. "Never mind," she mumbled quietly.

Secretgrudge peeled away his share of the bark before Moonshade went and snapped at him. He blinked his cold eyes calmly and busied himself with organizing the bark so he could pick it up.

"It would be even worse if they were mine..." he grunted and picked up the bark as he left somethings unsaid. He inwardly sighed at the thought of kits. He didn't want to take the chance of another him was born.


Spiderfrost turned to see Secretgrudge walking back with the bark. Already she had a stick keeping one leg stretched out straight. The fact that Sagepaw got out of this predicament with only a broken leg and not a broken neck or spine was luck in and of itself.
"So...you were having 'The Talk' with your new found love were you?" she snorted to the tom as she took the bark and began to wrap it around the broken leg to mend it. The tom froze in his spot and glared at her.
"You know this why?"
"Because you are horrible at discussing your feelings Secretgrudge."
"It's your fault I'm so dysfunctional when it comes to relationships."
"What? Because i took away the would be mother of your first litter?" the white cat mocked. Secretgrudge's fur bristled & he looked away to see if Moonshade was near enough to hear. He didn't want her to know that.
"You swore you wouldn't mention that again!" he hissed.
"Well we all can't delve in the past you know..."
"Like I'm the only one." The tom shot back crossly.
"I wont deny it, I know where i will end up when i die."

Sagepaw turned around and saw Moonshade running up to her limp body, and wanted to walk with her, but she couldn't. The beast was still there. When Moonshade ran over to the beast and attack, she cheered. Not like anyone could hear her. Sagepaw turned her attention to her body and saw that somehow Spiderfrost had appeared. Sagepaw padded closer to her and looked at her questioningly. After a few minutes, she turned around to see Moonshade limping back and Secretgrudge coming. Spiderfrost, Moonshade, and Secretgrudge had a short conversation, and Moonshade had put down her body once again. When Spiderfrost ordered them for bark, she looked at her with confused eyes. To her surprise, Spiderfrost seemed to see her. Shaking her head, Sagepaw watched Moonshade exit with Secretgrudge. She decided to follow, she needed to try to tell Moonshade that she was alright. Sagepaw followed them and found to her surprise that they were talking about kits. Did Moonshade and Secretgrudge like each other? They had to! Sagepaw let out an 'awwww!" and watched them go back. Sagepaw walked beside them, well, beside Moonshade and walked with her back. Sagepaw hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her, but it didn't seem to work with Secretgrudge. It was quit fun to be like this, but she would deeply miss the real world, she already missed Moonshade, and she was seeing her right there! Once Moonshade got back, Sagepaw walked over to Spiderfrost, and sat. She wanted to test if she could actually see her stary body. If so, she had to ask many things. After all, Spiderfrost was a medicine cat.

Moonshade looked away from him, suddenly feeling annoyed and angry. What makes him think our kits would be bad?! She sighed loudly. As she took her own bark, she noticed he had left her alone and her tail drooped with disappointment. The dark grey deputy looked down a little sadly, but her ears pricked as she glanced around to see if he had waited only to find that he didn't. She blinked slowly, not understanding what was going on and her ears fell back down.
She took the bark, grasping it in her strong jaws as she made her way through the trees slowly back to where Spiderfrost was tending Sagepaw. She could hear some voices in the distance but couldn't figure out what they were saying or who it was. She paused, and flicked her tail-tip as she recognized the ivy Spiderfrost requested. She chomped down hard on the winding stems and added it to her load. She padded slowly still, feeling low and sad. As she neared the clearing she saw Spiderfrost and Secregrudge looking a little angry and just stared at them with cloudy, dark eyes. She sighed and past him without a word and handed her the medcine. "Here," she mumbled.
