Moonshade's dark pelt was ruffled slightly by a light breeze coming their way as she padded alongside Secretgrudge. She nodded in response. "Yeah. I guess if the mother was that timid, the baby probably left too." She paused at the tree in which they had gone their separate ways and blinked her sea-blue eyes. "Sagepaw!'' the young deputy called softly. Moonshade sat down silently and wrapped her tail around her paws delicately. "She should come in a bit," she half murmured to herself. The dark tabby then looked at the tom and smiled gently. "I... didn't think scaring off a potential threat to the clan would.. would be this enjoyable," she mumbled a little nervously. "...Mostly because you were here." She said the last bit in a quieter tone than his and looked down.

Secretgrudge let amusement show clearly in his eyes. It was rare to see the quiet deputy so giddy, he enjoyed the sight of her dancing blue-green eyes and the barely noticeable twitch of the tip of her tail. Slowly, he walked to a comfortable place to sit and did so as the two waited for the apprentice.

"Because it was something new I suppose." his deep voice rumbled through his paw as he licked it.

Moonshade knit her eyebrows. That wasn't what she'd meant. "Ah, yes. I guess so..." she responded, not sounding very convincing. He doesn't get it... She sighed softly and licked a forepaw, tracing it over one ear to smooth the fur as she sat tall and still in the sunlight.

Secretgrudge gazed at her when he heard a slight hitch in her voice. The tom furrowed his brow and got to his paws and walked up to her.

"It was enjoyable with you there too." his expression was nothing short of a smirk as he flicked his tongue across the she-cats cheek.

Moonshade's eyes widened, not expecting such a gesture from him. She blushed and looked away for a second. Then she blinked as her eyes traveled back to his. She saw the smirk, still, and couldn't hold back a smile either. She stood and let out a long purr. "Well, thank you," she said quietly.
Now she understood the funny feelings she'd felt about this tom. Do I like him? She'd never felt this way about anything - no one had liked her and she never cared for toms much in that way. But now, after all he'd helped her with... maybe there was something more for him in her. Do I care for him... in a way that's more than just liking him..? She nuzzled his cheek, these loving gestures completely new when it came to her and Secretgrudge. But she didn't stop for it felt good.

The tom gratefully accepted Moonshades affection as her warmth spread through his entire body. Secretgrudge maybe a cold character, but the she-cat before him brought back dead emotions he had closed off moons ago.

Moonshade leaned in a little closer, surprised that such an icy tom didn't pull away the moment she'd spoken. She purred still, and pulled back to look into his amber eyes. "Secretgrudge?" she whispered. "You know, the first day you actually started treating me like a normal cat was the first day I started feeling better about myself. You never pitied me, you never treated me like a useless kit but you never babied me. You told me to stop feeling sorry for myself. Now, I've gotten this far-" She blinked and looked down. Far meaning she'd actually went from a nobody in the clan to deputy. "-because you helped me through everything." She smiled a little as she spoke gently, "Thank you for criticizing and annoying me constantly." Her words held a humorous tone to them, but her eyes softened to a seriousness. What would she do without him? How on earth could she have come this far without this mysterious tom?
She didn't move back, but stepped a little closer; rubbing her cheek against his. She closed her dazzling eyes, whispering, "...You've got no clue how much you mean to me."

Secretgrudge didn't keep his eyes off her as she spoke her feelings. It was odd, if Spiderfrost hadn't pushed him into speaking up this close relationship wouldnt have sprouted & he would still be locked up in his shell, never loving anyone again, never caring about anything again...

"...You weren't the only one I once 'saved'...of course, you are probably the only one whose kept her sanity in tact." he murmured darkly. He wondered if he should be completely honest with her. But doing that would mean revealing another's secret...his, Spiderfrosts....and her sisters biggest secret. Secretgrudge looked painfully to the she cat he had fallen for so very hard. She had been so much like Spiderfrost in the past so much so it frightened the tom and chilled him to the bones. Would she still feel this affection for him?

"I...was afraid you would turn out like them after i talked to you..."

(( LOL if you look at my cats, there are two toms under Moonshade & Lightheart; they're dad and their brother. They're both not part of any clans. I guess we can say Darkpelt was wondering the forest? I don't want to put Ember in yet xD ))

Moonshade pulled from pressing her cheek against his and looked up at him. She wasn't afraid of what he was going to say. She tipped her head to one side a little but hardly moved; she remained only a whisker's length away from his face and she could feel his warm breath. Saved... The way he said that made her feel curious and a little happy.
She saw the darkness sweeping over his face and only wanted to help him. Whatever happened to him... she just wanted to understand. She gazed wisely at Secretgrudge's face, eyes unblinking and ominous. Her mysterious, strong aura that no one could ever figure out was returning. She listened intently. "How? What do you mean, Secretgrudge?" she said in a hushed, calm voice. No matter what he'd been hiding, she wanted him to know she was here.

Secretgrudge glared at the ground, his claws buried in the dirt.

"Did you know....That when Spiderfrost was younger she was first training to become a warrior?" he asked. The memories from that time swooped back to him, he was a young warrior, just a few days after his warrior ceremony. He remembered the small, depressed kit that would become his first ever apprentice. At first he had been annoyed, he was young and wanted to quickly prove himself as a capable warrior. But he had agonized and complained to his friends at how it was so annoying that he had to get Spiderkit as an apprentice and not her cheerful, more eager sister, Snowkit.

Back then he had done the worst things he could have possibly done to her as her mentor: ignored her, insulted her, he even purposely left her out in the middle of a part of their territory that she had been unfamiliar with and left her there telling her to find her own way back after hunting for the clan. He was stupid, cruel...and probably the first to drive the she-cat to her violent decisions. It had been his inner punishment and redemption to stay by her side, to stop any emotion for fear he may revert back to that cruel cat he had once been.
