Owner: Demotivated_bear
Name: Shiver
Age: 2 years old
Gender: Mare
Height: 7.9 Feet
Story:
The thick covering of the clouds blocked the earth from her view, however she didn't need to see to do her work. Rearing up on her hind legs, the pale silver mare drummed her hooves against the cloud she was standing on, forcing the cold snowflakes to release their hold and fall to the earth. A soft snort came from behind her and she glanced over her shoulder to see a large paint appaloosa stallion standing behind her. "Great job Shiver. You're learning very quickly." Feeling her skin heat from the praise, Shiver quickly looked away as the stallion rose up in a buck, calling forth wind to drive the snow harder and faster to the earth. "How do you do that so easily, Cherokee?" At her question, Cherokee smiled slightly, letting the wind toss his forelock even further into his eyes. "It's my specialty, Shiver. Just as yours is calling forth snow instead of rain." She dipped her head in acknowledgement, even as she drummed her hooves against the cloud once again, sending another flurry of snowflakes down. Unlike most tempestines, Shiver and Cherokee were in charge of winter storms instead of thunderstorms, so many times in the colder months, they spent a lot of time with one another. It was something that Shiver was beginning to notice more and more as they both grew older and more mature, and was something she tried desperately to hide. Shaking off the thoughts, Shiver reared up again, as high as she could. Just as Cherokee's warning rang out, she realized her mistake. The cloud had been beaten to its limit, and instead of creating snow, her hooves passed through the watery mist. Screaming in fear, the mare plummeted through the dissipating cloud and to the earth below, her hooves cartwheeling through nothing but air. Soon nothing could be heard but the screams of the wind as Shiver's silver pelt disappeared among the falling snow.

"Cherokee, they've announced that Shiver is believed to be dead." At the hesitant voice, the stallion swung his head up from the cloud he'd been checking, shock running through him. Pronounced her dead? Already? Anger flooded him and he glared at the painted stallion who'd brought him the news. "She's only been gone for four months. Our kind lives much longer than that. Besides, I'd feel it if she died." Chinook, the only friend Cherokee had left anymore since Shiver's disappearance, said nothing as he gazed at the other stallion. However his blue-green eyes held all of the sympathy the young colt was feeling, and Cherokee turned away with an annoyed snort. "The herd may be giving up on her, but I refuse to. I know she's alive, Chinook. I can feel it." Once again the younger male did not say anything, but this time Cherokee walked away, not wanting to see the pity in the youngster's eyes.

Meanwhile, Shiver sighed softly and picked herself up off the ground, her eyes on the clouds she'd missed with her frantic jumps. Snorting softly, she lashed her tail and stuck her tongue out at the cloud before turning away and looking for a higher point to try from. Somehow she knew that Cherokee would not give up on finding her, so she just needed to get somewhere he could see her. Sighing again, she lowered her muzzle to the lush grasses beneath her hooves, hating that this was where her energy came from now. As she opened her mouth to crop up the grass, a low voice drifted across the clearing towards her. "I see you're a long way from home as well." At the voice, her head flew up and her eyes focused on the paint Tempestine walking towards her. "Bellaluna! The herd said you were..." "Dead? I know. They've probably said the same thing about you.. However, it is obvious that we are most definitely not dead, now isn't it?" The mare snorted and turned striking blue eyes up to the clouds, her eyes thoughtful. "I've been trying to figure out how to get back to where I belong since I fell. I've tried stepping off of a mountain into the clouds, but it didn't work." Seeing Shiver's quick glance, Bellaluna explained. "The clouds are not formed enough for us to use. However, I discovered that we can get back into the clouds by riding a storm." "Riding a storm? We create the storms, how can we ride one?" Bellaluna smiled, her tail flicking. "Tempestines only create the storms, my dear. We do not control them, no matter what some of us believe. If we can find a tornado, we can ride the vortex up to the clouds. However, tornadoes are very hard to create, as they require perfect communication between the herd. If they believe we're dead, they'll never drop one where we fell. However, before I fell, I was part of the planning committee for tornado valley. All we need to do is get there and find a storm." Shiver nodded in agreement, her heart filling at the thought that they had a chance to return home. Bellaluna smiled softly, then turned and began to trot towards the plains that stretched as far as the eye could see. "Are we close to tornado valley?" Bellaluna nodded, turning to look over her shoulder. "The edge of the valley is almost like a living creature. It moves and fluctuates, depending on what the storms do. This year, that border is four miles from those mountains. We have about three miles to go. Look, the skies are dark over there. We may get lucky and find a storm nearby." Shiver nodded again, picking up her speed to reach Bellaluna's side. Without saying another word, the two mares set out for tornado valley, hope in every fall of their hooves.

Cherokee sighed softly as he took his place in the herd, his tail twitching impatiently. The entire herd was there, all of the facing the same direction as the wind flowed around them. Suddenly a blast of cold air entered the wind, followed by warmer wind that caused a slow rotation in the clouds beneath the herd. That was their sign. With a loud whinny, the leader stepped forward into a trot, his hooves whipping the clouds into a frenzy. The herd followed him, trotting in an ever-tightening circle until he gave the signal and they all sprang forward into a gallop. The swirling clouds soon picked up on the motion and continued them on their own, creating a dark funnel that dropped from the base of the storm and the herd was able to stop. All of them watched as the twister took on a furious whine and dropped to the earth before taking off towards the west, the dust blinding the watching equines. As one, they turned and made their way far from the tumultuous upper cloud level that accompanied the tornado. Little did they know that two of their lost members were about to return from the dead.

Letting out screams of triumph at the sight of the dark funnel tearing towards them, the two mares broke into a gallop, their hooves thundering against the hard earth beneath them. As they got closer, the wind began to lash out at them, trying to push them away from the angry funnel. Lowering their heads, the two slowly drew closer and closer to the funnel, their eyes flickering to the top of the funnel, where they knew home awaited. Finally they reached the funnel and they leaped into the dark clouds, letting out squeals of joy as the watery substance supported them. Lowering their heads even further, the two fought their way to the top before bursting into the clouds. Although they were out of the funnel itself, the wind continued to lash out in fury, forcing them to keep moving instead of celebrating their return. Finally they burst out of the wall of clouds and into the herd, whinnies of joy coming from them. Shiver bolted right towards Cherokee, who had yet to notice her when the enraged screams of the head stallion caused her to slide to a stop. Her eyes wide, she spun to see him charging, but he wasn't charging at her. Bellaluna narrowed her eyes as the stallion slid to a stop a couple inches in front of her, anger in his eyes. "Why have you come back? I thought I made myself perfectly clear when I shoved you through the clouds." Bellaluna lifted her head above his, her eyes flashing as lightning struck her antlers repeatedly. "Yes, you made your message perfectly clear. Should I tell the herd what you said when you pushed their Queen through the clouds? That you would not stoop down to the level of every other stallion in the herd? That you refused to serve under a female? You tried to kill me, just so you could lead the herd, and now I'm calling you on your bluff. I vote for exile!" The mare's powerful words rang out and silence greeted them for a few moments. Then the stallion let out a loud scream and lunged, hatred in his eyes. Shiver knew this would be a fight to the death and she stepped forward to stop them, only to have Cherokee step in front of her. "You have to let them do this, Shiver." "He's right. No one would honor her victory if we help." Chinook stepped forward, pain in his eyes as he watched the lead stallion attacking his mother, intent on killing her.

Finally, half an hour after the fight had began, the victor nudged the last of the clouds over the deceased Tempestine, honoring their sacrifice. That done, Bellaluna stepped forward and screamed her victory to the clouds, knowing that the herd would do the same. Finally she was home. Finally things were right again. Finally.

The end!

((I'm sorry it's so long. I hope that doesn't disqualify me, I worked really hard on this. The original detailed the fight, but it made this even longer, so I omitted the details. Figured they'd be too gorey anyhow.))

Owner:*Icetea*
Name: Acantha
Age: 5
Gender: Mare
Height: 7.9 Feet
Story:(Her Perspective)
I have been searching for days...searching for my paradise.I just wander around not knowing my place but i do know is that i must check this.I came upon a strong group lead by large rather stern looking astallion whom had a pretty dark bay coat with a soft blanket of white. They all stared at my pretty coat as i was more unique than ever with a glossy, fleabitten coat unlike his, and more importantly i didnt have as many colors, streaks or spots.I had my mind being boggles, the wheels spinning but Suddenly my gaze fell upon his unique white patches and firey eyes, filled with spirit...Much of the fire i lacked. He asked about me and insisted i tell him my history,
''My life isn't as perfect as most may think. Yeah, Im pretty and all but face it I am nothing but a wanderer!'' I snorted bobbing my head up in down in disgust.I turned to the side and arched my head showing my better profile and more vibrant side.....Well what adds more to an awesome story than a babe telling of a story with a bunch of hot stallions gawking at you in the distance ready to fight over you,?
'' I remember being in a small group consisting of my father, and mother... My memory is kind of fuzzy from an accident, but I remember how when I was just a yearling my father....he's alwas prance up to me an smile.Gosh, was he the most handsome tempestine around with his lush mane and broad chest, and his rippling muscles.he made me proud when all the others would stare at him in awe amazed in longing for him...and his unique patterns and strength.I would smile in joy thinking ''Wow thats my dad!'' I said chuckling softly.
''He'd always stand by me and whisper, 'You remind me of myself when i was your age Canther my little princess, You even have my deep, icy blue eyes.'' I sighed as i felt myself tearing up.''Canther was my nick name'' I added quickly.
''That was the day when we stood at a large cliff, we knew we were safe from all the dangers, that the other tempestines were facing down in the vallies, or the lower mountin ranges....'' they all stared at me awkwardly for right now we were standing on staticy grey clouds,
''Yes...I know..but,my father was most definately strong, so on the once in a blue moon occurance our small group went down to earth''
''But we would have never figured that they would soon guess, we were here.'' I finally spat out.I could sense i was choking up so i stood there in silence for a minute, finally swallowing down a large lump in my throat my lips gentley parted as i began to speak again,
'' Thats when a piercing noise filled with a heavy scent of gunpowder rang through the air....Boy were we startled. We broke out into different direction. Soon a rowdy riled up group trampled others to the groud and swerving around like a group who had mad cow disease. It was a sickening sight to see. Everyone was getting separated and I too was lost until my father came from the cloud of dust and grabbed me. ..'' I said feeling a warm salty stream streaking down my face from my eyes. I quickly shook them off for i felt slightly embarrassed as pretty mares shouldn't cry.
''Thats when more shoots came about and there he was, a two legged aiming his gun at my face, suddenly my father jumped in front of me and there i sat horrified as i watched the bullet hurl into his chest in slow motion, blood squirted everywhere and in a raspy, choking voice he spoke to me. ' Run....m-m-my Canther girl'' I took his advice and leapt away as the others had already left us abandoned. I cried and wept as i felt it was my fault he was hurt.....'' I broke into a stuttering whisper,
'' I soon found my mother when I told her what happened they were so enraged they kicked me out of the group she had rejoined, not allowing me to be next to any other tempestines, all over a grudge or a fear i was cursed, thinking i would soon kill them...even though we were now far away from earths ground.'' i said falling silent. I turned my back and hung my head low resting for a bit and trying to calm down not wanting to let all my feelings out. Finally i gained the courage to stand up tall again and turn around once more.
''A little after that I wandered around lonesome for about another two years until I wasbrave enough to go back down to earth, this time was one of the best harvest the farmers had, a great oppurtunity to get a rare treat, an apple with it's shiny skin and swollen, juicy flesh...On my way came to a large ditch, When I got ready to leap it, some patch of a weird plant I have never seen before caught my eye, a colorful fluff .I walked over and before my eyes could focus it clearly I realized it was a tail! Not any tail but a familiar tail linking to a body!.....Then by her was another two more bodies, Soon I saw the whole ditch was just a dump, a boneyard for tempestines that got mutilated by humans! I was traumatized and done for... my whole life ruined. Now i dont get attached to anyone afraid i'll be the cause of their death or soon we will be split apart...Not to menton i have'nt been to earth in ears and i plan on keeping it that way...'' i wept feeling embarassed and Lackadaisical to go on but i forced myself to.
''So here i am, the rest of my life i am a wanderer.......a Gypsy i'll be forever...'' I sighed as a turned around. With a flick of my tail to tell i was done i knew that i left my mark on this group. The large stallion's eyes turned pityful and soft.He stoodsilent and i stood there and wept with him. Suddenly i felt a warm muzle blow hot air gentley onto my neck and as i heard the deep, genlte voice flow like music through my ears, i gasped.Quickly turning around i saw my father, my remarkable father .I sobbed and cried.I dont care how loud or gooky i was.I saw my father,He was never dead...only living.
''I love you dad..'' i stuttered hugging him even tighter...Till this day me and that mysterious stallion still enjoy sauntering across the plains even though i may lack some of the enthusiasm he has..Nothings better than sight seeing and laughing danger in the face. And of course we still go have our daily visits to the legendary tempestine so called my father.

Owner: Lfsn
Name: Wakita
Age: 3 years
Gender: Mare
Height: 7.9 Feet
Story:
Wakita was always over-the-top competitive. One second, she would be relaxed and idly snacking or chatting with a few friends and the next she would be in a very competitive mood, challenging anyone to a race across the sky. Often, nobody would except her challenge, causing her to storm off (literally).
When she was little, she didn't socialize as much as she should have. Instead, she was off on her own, constantly prancing around, trying to produce the largest bolts of lightning and the loudest booms of thunder she could muster. She kept track of her records and always tried to improve her speed and the amount of a racket she made. But by being alone or not being properly alone could have been very dangerous for her.
Once, when she was just a month old, she was speeding across the afternoon sky jumping from dark cloud to cloud. She then came to a expansive stretch of rolling thunderheads. Knowing some adults were nearby (and probably watching), she bolted as fast as she could, showing off for her elders. She spotted an old tempestine glancing over at her. A surprised look on his face. I wonder how fast I'm going. I must have really surprised him with my quickne. . . Suddenly - she could no longer feel clouds under her hooves as she began to plummet downwards. She could feel the air rushing pass her. She didn't even have time to panic before-
-Plop!-
Dazed, she looked around. There she was on a very small cloud. She managed to stand up and noticed that her cloud was slowly drifting upwards.
"You okay, Lil' Filly?" Wakita saw a large head peek over the clouds where she had broken through. "That was quite a tumble you had there." It was the elderly stallion.
". . . y-yeah, I think so," she stuttered as the cloud lifted her up to the main cloudline. "Thanks for sending down that cloud." Wakita smiled and jumped next to the tempestine.
"No problem," he said is his crackly voice.
