Backstory: Benvolio was born on a cold winter day in the middle of a lone mountain, tucked deep into a dark, dank cave. He was one of seven cubs, and was the second largest of the lot. His father had once been a beta to a large wolf pack, and his mother a nurse from the rival clan. For months they engaged in secret rendezvous. But as is true with life, all good things must come to an end. The couple were found out, and his father was thrown out of his pack. Benvolio's mother, a spontanious and smitten young wolf at the time, left her own clan to go live the solitary life of an outcast with her mate...and to this day, they are some of the happiest wolves Benvolio has ever met.
However, that winter was a harsh one, and all but two pups passed through into the realm of the ancestors. Their mother was crushed, but she vowed to take care of the two survivors until the day she died. And she did.
Benvolio's father was a strong wolf, and larger than any he had ever met. Benvolio himself didn't take after his father in this way, but his brother Balthazar did. Unfortunately, Balthazar also inherited the family crazy gene, also from his father's side. Benvolio watched after his older brother all of his early years, keeping him out of trouble and grounded to the world below, instead of letting him drift off into the world of the ancestors, which most of the wolves with this condition tended to do. However, there was a price to Balthazar's life.
In exchange for his existance on earth, the gods demanded a sacrifice, and they whispered it to Balthazar every day. And every day Benvolio would watch on in dumbstruck horror as his brother talked and schemed with himself, not understanding a word that came out of his mouth.
One day, he found out what Balthazar had been up to all of his three years. He and his father had newly returned from a hunt, dragging a battered elk carcass into the cave behind them. But the cave was not as they had left it. Benvolio stared, wide eyed and horrified, as he saw his brother crouched over the bloody body of his mother, her snow white fur drenched in her own red blood. And then Balthazar turned on them.
Benvolio watched as his deranged brother ripped their father's throat out. He watched the blood of their parents drip from Balthazar's brown muzzle, drip-dropping into a pool on the floor of the cave. Each drop sounded louder than the last, echoing through the cave as though someone had amplified it a hundred fold.
And then the unthinkable happened -- Balthazar turned on Benvolio.
Benvoio prayed to the gods harder than he ever had during this fight with his crazed brother. He prayed for their lives, their sanity, and the safe passage of their parents into the next life. He prayed forgiveness for his soul and his brother's, and he ripped Balthazar open from throat to stomach.

Personality: Benvolio is overall a shy lad, and tends not to speak unless spoken to. He will be awkward for a while after you meet him, but take the time to get to know him and you've struck gold. He's very focused on completing the tasks laid out for him, and when he is charged with a job it is guaranteed to be completed well. He is ambitious and will more often than not bite of a little more than he can chew, just to see if he can swallow it. He’s very good at following orders and excels at doing what he's told...though, because of his high ambition level, he tends to push the envelope, doing more than he's supposed to, or completing the task in a different (though just as effect) way than expected. He is quite clever and easily bored, so always tries to keep himself busy, making up puzzles and games to help wile away the time. He is exceedingly loyal and willing to dish out respect and lay down his life for almost anyone...as long as that person can convince him that they are worth saving.
