I have learned nylon/lycra blends or stretchy materials like the zigzag stitch. Not the straight stitch. But I finished my collar! That's exciting. Just the hood, pants, other hood + cape and I'll be done sewing the actual costume parts. Then there's optional props :p

Hmm... How about something that everyone can do, so not writing a story or art (Because some people feel horrible about their writing or drawings...) but perhaps as Shadow said, a raffle where we buy tickets with certain pets, such as a common pet would be 1 ticket, and we base it on rarities as well as years (I could help with that if you decide to go this route)
Or something like best name wins, pick a number 1-50, whats my favorite colour, etc.
Love of my LifeWhat should I even put here now?
I do stuff on here sometimes...

I like that, but what about going a bit farther like solve a riddle or write the correct words to an old song.. make sure you state no googling etc.
I would like to appoligize to everyone for my behavior. Apparently one of my meds needed adjusted. I decided to stay but I will soon start a thread about High Functioning Autisum so that maybe a few people can better understand when I do slip. Love you all!

keeks wrote:Bluh. Hey everyone. I'm hanging out in here because I'm frustrated with sewing. Y'see this summer I've learned to use a sewing machine a bit which is great! I've always wanted to learn. I also decided to make costumes for myself and my boyfriend. Which, ok that's cool coz at least there's a purpose in learning all this sewing stuff. We'll be cosplaying at my first anime convention the weekend of the 20th. Also awesome since I've always wanted to go and it should be really fun! But I have to make a hood for my costume (God Tier Jade) and apparently I'm dumb and bought a Nylon knit for it. My sewing machine haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaates it. It's been super duper frustrating since I'm only partly done with the collar and still have the actual hood to go. I can't wait to be done with this hood so I can work on my boyfriend's pants (which are cotton <3) and eventually finish these costumes so I can start on what I actually want to learn: plushies.
Do any of you guys have any sewing experience?
To bad that I do not know you in real life, I have been hand sewing sience I was 9 and machine sewing by 12... accumalative over 20 years experience. My specialty is dog costumes, and believe me they come in all fabrics!

I feel for you though, when you start with a plushy beware.. sew slower or your machine will try to go faster then you and make a knot mess. ~

I actually think I'm going to try hand sewing for plushies, at least for now. I'm still learning how to get seams to go where I want them on the machine.
Thankfully I did figure out the nylon fabric and made a hood. It's not very good tho so I think I'm going to attempt to remake it either tomorrow or Monday.
Thanks for the advice!

Letting you guys know I made it back safely. For those that don't know I went to Tokyo in Tulsa over the weekend. It was my first ever anime convention. I had a blast! It was pretty awesome and I did a bit of cosplaying as well but I'm a total noob about it lol. I'm really hoping to attend another convention in November but I'll just have to wait and see.
