Tessa looked away from Lucien's searching gaze, staring down at the ground next to her instead. "Well, I don't notice anything different," she mumbled. This was the truth. Tessa was ridiculously oblivious to Vicente and Lucien's interests unless they were kissing her at that moment. She felt a rising wave of guilt take over her again as she placed both of them into the same thought process. She was basically lying to Lucien and toying with Vicente and she felt like crap for doing it. She was worse than Twilight. "Is that why you two have been so on edge lately? And don't think I don't see it, because I do." At least she wasn't oblivious to the quiet feud that seemed to transpire between them.

"That would be part of the reason, I believe." Lucien replied with a nod. Ungolim was also to blame for the extra stress, as well as Vicente aging another year. Well, not physically, of course. The Vampire still looked as if he was in his twenties. He gave a sigh, running his hand through his hair. "It would be wise to choose, lest we start going at eachother's throats." he joked dully, though frowned upon realizing that that probably wasn't the best thing to say, considering Vicente's condition.

Lucien's nonchalant joke made Tessa's heart sink into her stomach. If she chose one, she'd hurt the other. But she covered her dread with a soft laugh. "I think we both know who would win that battle," she said with a smirk, referring to Vicente's vampirism.

Lucien gave a small smirk in return to the jest, "Surely, you don't doubt my abilities." he chuckled, leaning back and propping himself up with his hands in the dead leaves. He was silently wondering what her choice would be, and a small part of him was wanting her to just choose him over Vicente, and the prideful part of him shrugged it off.

Tessa arched an eyebrow. "If it's you versus the vampire and the target is the throat, the odds and definitely stacked against you." She threw up her hands in mock surrender to the "truth". "To heck with it... Yes, I doubt your abilities," she teased.

Lucien scowled at Tessa, puffing out his chest indignantly. "Not if I'm well equipped. If I've got daggers and he's got teeth, I think I might win. Though I think I would rather die than get infected with vampirism." Lucien joked dully, giving a light sigh. If Lucien pitied Vicente at all, it was for that. He certainly wouldn't like to be in Vicente's place.

Tessa frowned, running her thin fingers through her dark hair as she spoke. "Oh, it can't be that bad. I mean, if you're secluded like me, you have no one to outlive. Or at least I was secluded until some idiot kidnapped me from my hotel and brought me to his fort." She arched an eyebrow at Lucien and smirked.

Lucien scoffed this time, raising an eyebrow in return. "Would you rather I killed you? Surely my Fort isn't that bad." Lucien chuckled with a dashing smirk to accompany the laugh. He flicked his eyes towards the horizon, noting to himself that it was about six, and Vicente could come wandering around after the sun set. He stood with a sigh, holding out a hand to help Tessa up.

Tessa chuckled, finding it quite fun to tease prideful Lucien. "It's not the Fort I'm a little iffy about. It's the oddball that brought me here." She looked up at the offered hand and took it, relying on Lucien's strength to get her up onto her feet. She wished her leg would hurry up and heal, especially at times like this where she had to rely on Lucien or Vicente for help. "We're leaving already?" she asked, positioning the crutch under her arm and leaning against it.

Lucien gave a nod to her question as he pulled her up from the ground, giving a sigh. "Yes, it's already getting dark. I'm sure Vicente's getting lonely back at the Fort. It is his birthday, if you've forgotten," Lucien chided with a smirk. He didn't particularly care that it was the vampire's birthday, but he knew that it would be a decently good way to get Tessa to willingly go back to the Fort now, instead of complaining and being stubborn.
