On March 16th, we got these 2 baby black australorp chickens, Gertrude and Inara. But we recently came to the conclusion that Inara was a rooster. What with "her" long tail feathers, more developed comb and wattle, slightly agressive behavior, and recently -- crowing. So, we renamed him Imran, and because it's illegal to have roosters where we live (because they're noisier) we gave it to our neighbor...and they ate him. So I have this one last feather of his, and thought it would be nice to draw it. He was a quite marvelous chicken and it'd be a shame to not do anything in his memory.
It's my first time ever drawing a feather (on paper or computator) so forgive me if it doesn't look too good.

This is absolutely amazing! I am so sorry for your loss, I myself have chickens and I know the feeling when one of those adorable feathered friends leave this earth. Give my regards to Gurtrude!

This is a great drawing. My grandpa has lots of chickens and when he orders them, he always gets one 'odd ball'. So he gave her to me and gave me a little cage for her to roost in and she became Lilly. We later found she was an Araucana. Unfortunatly she died about a week ago.
