Items:
Magical Items used for various reasons. We will make these up as we go, but here are some popular ones.
Black Cat Bones: These are a popular item that witches make, but it is disturbing. You take a black cat and boil it under the moonlight until only the bones are left. These bones, when held, will allow the wearer to become invisible for an hour at a time. Each bone only works ten times, so there is a high demand. The cat cannot be a talking cat or a familiar, or the spell will not work.
Bezoar: A popular item. The bezoar is a mass, usually a stone, found in the gastrointestinal system. Bezoars neutralize any and all poisons. These are used to make goblets and soup bowls for those who worry about being poisoned.
Cockatrice Eye: The eye of a cockatrice, the child of a poisonous snake and a rooster's egg, causes anyone caught in the gaze to feel nausea and terror. The retinas can be used as eyeglass lens and can reveal any lie.
Setting:
The Plains: The Plains make up most of central Purgatory. They are filled with streams, ponds, and lakes that all have their origins in the Jerral Mountains. Nearly all hooved creatures are found here.
Jerral Mountains: A ring of mountains that start in the far north and trace along the eastern edge of the Plains. They are filled with frozen creatures, from ice golems to frost dragons, and even rumors of sabre toothed cats. The River starts here.
The River: The River is huge. It starts as a small stream from the highest peak in the Jerral Mountains, but quickly it transforms into a gigantic waterfall--bigger than Niagara Falls--that falls into a huge set of underground caves formed by the water and magma from a caldera. The heat turns the River into stream, and it reaches the surface once more as geysers at the edge of the Plains and a few sections of the Highlands. From the Plains geysers into turns into a river once more, snaking through the land, turning into streams and lakes and ponds until it finally ends in the Black Forest.
The Colovian Highlands: The Colovian Highlands resemble the highlands in Ethiopia. Sulfur lakes, sun-bleached skeletons, and salt flats fill this giant landmass to the east of the Jerral Mountains. The air is more poisonous the farther one traverses into this horrible place. One can find whole herds of Cockatrice and Wyverns, both known as poisonous creatures, here.
The Black Forest: Named after a forest in Germany which it strongly resembles. This forest makes up the western half of Purgatory. The sun cannot penetrate all the way through, allowing sun-weakened creatures to live without fear. Only the strongest creatures can live here without being killed by the darker things, like fairies or vampires.
The Ocean: Has no real name. The ocean surrounds all of Purgatory. There is no end to its water; a dragon tried to fly over the ocean, starting at the western shores. In three days he was found at the eastern shore with no memory of his journey. Mermaids and the like live here.
