Abi was tired of it. Of everything. She had been dragged into this dysfunctional "family" and had tried to help as much as she could, chasing the over-dramatic Sandra all over the island and trying to calm everyone down. But for what consolation? Nothing. Nothing was gained through her determination and she realized that nothing ever would be. Her part was not important, not for the family and not for the island.
"Fine," Abi grumbled, shaking her head. "Have it your way, you coward," she said, looking to the way Sandra had run. Turning in the opposite direction, Abi went her own way. She didn't need any of them. She'd make it herself and escape herself.
After walking for a while, Abi came to the beach again. Everything looked the same around here so she couldn't tell exactly which part it was, but who would care? This was her temporary home now, she confirmed. There were branches scattered around the edge of the jungle, which she bit down on and pulled over to a group of palm trees that resembled a square which, with walls, would be a shape fit for a dog house. She rested the branches on the trunks of the trees and stacked some from the ground up, creating a weak wall. One down, three walls to go, she thought, looking at the feeble structure.
She heard a howl echo through the thick jungle brush. "In your dreams, Sandra," she grumbled, continuing her search for branches. Abi had decided that she was done chasing her. Besides, Sandra was probably miles away by now since she had, of course, run away. The shepherd barked a bit, something that Sandra probably wouldn't hear, but whatever. If she did, she could come herself. If not, too bad.
