Daniel's face morphed to display a sneaky smile at his answer.
“Oh wouldn’t you like know?” Daniel muttered. He seemed only slightly irritated, which disappointed Asher. He wanted Daniel to become frustrated, angry, annoyed, anything really. He wanted to see how thin his temper ran, so in a sense he was testing the other boy. He was doing well, despite how much he pushed the fire-user.
As Asher thought his behavior through, he noticed the small flames on his arms mingle into larger ones that danced around his forearms and singed his shirt. Daniel watched the flames slide up his arms, all the way to his shoulders before he finally turned his gaze back onto Asher's. He took a few steps closer, until they were an arm's length apart. This didn't particularly bother Asher, actually it enticed more of his pointless nuisances. Asher was losing control, and becoming eager to fight again, as he was earlier outside. Daniel tilted his head, “You know those cages that we sit in for most of the days when Freak doesn’t let us out?" Asher bit back his smart-alec response. He felt an extreme urge to pointlessly argue with this boy until they were full out wrestling if that's what it came to. "I was curious enough to wonder if it was possible to melt down some of the bars. Only I can’t really test that thought out because of the workers and gaurds, but mate I don’t think everyone could get out with only one person doing what he can now, don’t you think the same?”
Daniel's last question brought back Asher's self control. The other boy was right, and Asher knew it. They needed to work together if they were to have a chance at escape, no matter how unwilling he was to team up with anyone. He stood up and faced Daniel, but before he could form a response, Daniel's smile turned into a nasty grin. “A rebellion is going to be forming sooner or later and whether Freak likes it or not, it will happen." Asher nodded slightly, as it was true enough. All of the creatures were getting restless, and it was way overdue for an attempt to at least try to revolt. But for those who were loyal to Freak... He wasn't sure. He didn't want anyone to unnecessarily get hurt, but it was unavoidable if they were unyielding. Daniel continued, "No one has to get hurt but once the security system fails and the we run around there’s going to be a bit of chaos. Something that is unavoidable.” Asher smirked a little, because that was exactly what he had been thinking only moments before. He was still whispering, which was precautionary and probably a good idea. However, when Asher began talking, he didn't bother to whisper. He replied in an even voice, "You're taking a huge chance trusting me, but you know that right?" Asher raised and eyebrow and paused for a moment. When he continued, he made sure to make eye contact, daring Daniel to look away. "As much as I hate it, you're right. No one person can do this alone. But that doesn't mean I'm too keen on teaming up with you. Asher sighed, and let the intensity in his eyes drop out. "But we can't go blurting out everything, or even hint much that we're planning. And, it can't be just us... We need more help."
Asher turned around and walked a few paces away. He stayed silent, gathering his thoughts. Finally, he turned back around and walked back over to Daniel and held his hand out, not caring about the proximity of the flames. "You got me. I'll team up with you, but just a warning... I'm not the easiest guy to put up with." Asher allowed a carefree grin to spread across his face as he finished his sentence with a chuckle.
