I believe that has something to do with the time 'resetting' to make it more fair to the adopter to hatch it if it is cave-born and abandoned as soon as possible.

Edit: Gotta pb red stripe from the AP. What great luck, because i just got an ungendered vine hatchie for a spitfire egg. What an amazing day!! Plus, last night, i got a red dorsal from the biomes. Now im gonna have really bad luck for a while, but it's worth it.
