[gsghasf sorry for not responding guys Dx Finals and regents caught up to me.

Accepted. ^^]

Mordecai listened to Foxglove ith half of his mind, the other half focused on the alley. Layla was in there. He could go and get her and attack her and...and...well, he wasn't sure what he'd do. Stump of a tail twitching madly, his attention became focused on Foxglove when she stood in front of him. "But..." he argued feebly, scratching at the concrete below him in frustration. "But if we get her now then you won't have to keep an eye out for her." The tom wasn't even sure what he meant by get her. Opening his mouth to say something, something probably stupid, he realized it was pointless to argue and shut his mouth again. "Okay. And you don't look like you gained anything. You look pretty...".

---

"Let's go." Bandit purred at Thirteen, standing up. "And yeah, the sun rises in the east." She watched the black and white she-cat run off for a second before following at a slightly slower pace. She was such a...a genuine cat. So sweet and energetic and just easily excited, but not in a bad way. Kittens were easily excited in a bad way. In an annoying way. Thirteen was different though. She was happy she'd...stumbled into her. "Wait up!"

---

Squirrel looked nervously at Fish Bones, still feeling horror from what she'd done. She'd nearly killed him. Killed him. Why would she even do that? Murder was just terrible. Terrible terrible terrible. Only bad people murdered. Squirrel wasn't bad, right? She was good. She'd never really done anything bad. Not purposely. Not trying to hurt someone. Zeus' comment only made her more nervous. Eyes wide and fur fluffed with fear, she began to back up with him, but a little faster. The she-cat was trembling, literally shaking in fear.
---
Fish Bones had passed out shortly after the whole episode with Squirrel and Zeus. A combination of exhaustion, hunger, age and just everything that had just occured had knocked him out. The blood that had been steadily seeping out of the wounds Squirrel had inflicted on him was lessening in flow. He still couldn't see out of one eye. Pain would have overwhelmed the poor tom had he not been unconcious. He was lucky he wasn't awake.

---

Julian stopped himself from letting out a pur when Layla put her tail on him. She was so pretty and so nice and she was talking to him. She was putting her tail on him. Why him? He was nothing special. But if she liked him maybe he was something special. He had survived the city after his owners had lost him, hadn't he? That took someone pretty awesome. He must be super awesome. Absorbed in his thoughts, he was hardly listening to whatt Layla said, only hearing snippets of her advice. He nodded regardless. He was so lucky, wasn't he? "Thank you." he meowed politely, hardly concealing the excitement in his voice.

Layla.
She refrained a sigh, glancing in his eyes and realizing he was totally our of it, his expression somewhat dreamy and blank. Totally out of it. But she kept the show up and merely smiled, her deep blue eyes shining. "Glad to be of help. Now...are you hungry?" She had few doubts he wasn't, he looked hungry. And Layla had already guessed he had been a housecat, and if her assumption was correct, that meant he'd been fed his whole life. And knew nothing about finding food or hunting. Ugh, why hadn't she just killed him when she'd had the chance? Oh well, it didn't matter now, he was alive and she had the feeling she was being watched, so she might as well just keep up the act. Plus, he seemed liked he would do anything for her. That could come in handy. So she simply smiled at him, and spoke again. "I know where to get some good food." Good enough for her at least. She wasn't sure how the tom would take it, probably being used to human meals.

Zeus.
He nudged Squirel again, and then they were slowly edging back together, his smaller legs working doubletime to keep up with hers. As soon as they were what he deemed far enough away, Zeus half twisted, spring forwards, away from the alley. "Go!" He shouted to Squirel, bounding forwards, and turning the corner into another alley. He wasn't sure he wanted to stop yet, but he slowed down, pausing to glance back and see if Squirel was behind him. He hoped she was. Despite all his efforts to remain angry at the world and hateful of everyone, he had come to enjoy the strange she-cat's company.

Spotting a movement in the alley opposite them, Foxglove stood up abruptly, trying to block Mordecai's view of Layla - if she came out this way. Flicking her ear back to listen to him as he spoke, the she-cat resisted the urge to roll her eyes, "You sound like a kitten, and I've already made my mind up." Sighing inaudibly, Foxglove turned her attention back to the alley, narrowing her eyes to slits as she strained to see another flicker of movement. Nothing. Yarn, this cat was good. Suddenly realising that Mordecai had been speaking, she tuned back in just in time to catch his last words. She shot him a quick smile over her shoulder, using her tail to pat him on the head, "Aw, thanks," Foxglove twisted her head back to face the alley as she heard a small sound. A voice? As if she was unable to control her legs, the she-cat began to move forwards, slinking along the pavement silently. She just wanted to look. And listen. Distractedly, she realised Mordecai was stood behind her, probably wondering what she was doing. "Now would be a good time to get searching for that mailbox," She murmured without turning round, "I'll be back in a moment." Foxglove raced across the road without waiting for his answer. She couldn't wait for him to try and keep her back, or insist on coming with her. It wouldn't take long; she only wanted to hear what Layla was saying. On the other side of the road, Foxglove melted into the shadows on one side of the alley, sinking to the ground where she could easily hear the cats in the alley.

As if in confirmation to Layla's assumption that he was hungry, Julian's stomach let out a low gurgle, just loud enough to reach the ears of both cats. The tom, noticing that the growl had been loud enough for Layla to hear, blushed under his fur. God, he must seem so weak and stupid to her. His stomach had growled. He was obviously not competent enough to even keep himself fed. It was obvious it was hard to do so in this city but most cats seemed to be able to get something to eat. Trying to compse himself and make up for that embarassing growl, he tried to respond in a way that would make him sound intelligent and worty of this beautiful she-cat's attention. "Uhm that's lovely sounding!" he mewed, realing how stupid that sounded after it had escaped his mouth. "I mean, yeah. That'd be nice." Stupid, stupid!

---

Squirrel began to slow in pace as she became further absorbed into her thoughts. They were mostly worries. What if ish Bones suddenly woke up and attacked? What if this had all been some sort of incredibly done ruse and he eas going to dive at them as soon as they turned their backs and viciously murder them. At least in that scenario she'd be back with Klim, right? The memory of his death had come back to her now. She was aware she was dead and aware of where she was and what had happened up to the point where this memory had gone away. Another scary thought crept into her mind. What if Fish Bones was dead? The thoughts that had been previously haunting her, that killing would make her a terrible cat, came back and she began to shiver uncontrollably. Deeply sunk into the darker parts of her mind she didn't realize she'd stopped moving and that Zeus was running away and out of the alley. Fish Bones wasn't dead, right? She wasn't bad.

---

Curiosity and a hint of concern sparked in Mordecai's eyes as Foxglove started slinking around. Had her time alone driven her a bit off the deep end? "Are you okay...?" He asked quietly, taking a tenative step towards her. At that moment she turned and raced cross the street. Mordecai blinked several times in confusion, then let out a tiny hiss of indignation. Where on earth was she going? Was she going after Layla? Mordecai had the strangest feeling her sudden darting off had something to do with that cat. Oh, so he wasn't allowed to go after this Layla but she was? Mordecai was no weaker than Foxglove was. If she was thinking of attacking Layla...Mordecai considered going after her for a moment, but, angered, decided against it. If she wanted to put her life in danger doing what she said he wasn't allowed to do, fine. Just fine. But what if she got hurt and needed your help? Mordecai shunned the thought with a shake of his head. She could deal with it herself. She could go off suddenly and do whatever the heck she wanted to. Huffing to himself, he considered he might me overreacting. Another thought he sentenced to death. She'd just blatantly told him he was not to go anywhere near Layla and then suddenly went off towards her. He had every right to be annoyed. "You want me to go find a stupid mailbox?" he muttered to himself, "Fine."

(awwwwww annoyed Morde is so adorable awawawawaw ;o;)

Foxglove glanced back at Mordecai as she settled herself against the wall. He looks angry, she noted with a tiny shred of satisfaction. But mostly she felt guilty. He must feel like she was treating him like a kitten, telling him to not do things and then racing off to do them herself. She just didn't want him to get hurt. It was okay if she did, she didn't matter, and besides, she knew what she was doing. Mordecai seemed to have forgotten that before he'd met her, Foxglove had already killed her mother and any other cats that stood in her way. It sometimes made her wonder why he'd stuck by her, knowing she had an explosive temper and blood on her paws. But she'd changed. For him. And if making him angry was the only way to get him to stay where he was safe... well, he had better get used to it. Shooting him what she hoped was a stay-right-there-I-won't-be-long smile, the she-cat turned back to face the alley. Yes, she could definitely hear voices. One female and one male. Twitching her ears, Foxglove shifted closer, straining to hear what they were saying.

[Can I just like hug Foxglove for a second or something?]

Mordecai wasn't exactly an optimistic cat. No, he wasn't an optimist at all. But sometimes he could be a bit hopeful. This was one of these times. In the hopes that maybe Foxglove would have a change of heart and suddenly decide to either come back or invite him on this secret mission, the tom turned around to take one last look at the she-cat. Instead of a tail twitch indicating he should come on over, he got a smile. Something in her eyes and mannerism gave him the idea she wanted him to stay there. But hadn't she just told him to go find a mailbox? Mordecai let out a huff of frustration and confusion. Good god, this cat was going to drive him nuts. Clawing slightly at the ground, he looked ahead of him and then returned his gaze to Foxglove, nodding his head. He'd stay. That was what she wanted, right? She was so demanding. Demanding and bossy and mean and hypocritical pretty and funny and sweet and smart and nice and...Mordecai hissed at himself for getting off track. Fine, he'd admit her better qualities outweighed her bad ones. But he was trying to be mad at her for a moment. He hadn't realized how hard being annoyed was when it was annoyance towards someone he really really really liked [Mordecai was a bit against the use of the word 'love']. Taking one last glance back at Foxglove, he walked up to the wall and slouched into a relaxed position besides it.

(-throws Foxy at you- 8D)

Foxglove let out a relieved sigh when Mordecai didn't come racing over to her. Then she froze, cursing at herself mentally. Was she trying to get herself heard? Flattening herself to the pavement, the she-cat turned her attention from Mordecai to the task at hand. She had two options. Number one: hide out here, eavesdrop, get caught when Layla left, look like an idiot. Number two: lie. There was no competition, really. But just as she prepared to move again, she remembered Mordecai. He was watching her. Probably expecting her to stay sat, listen, and then come back to him. And that is what she should do. Closing her eyes for a moment, Foxglove concentrated on Layla's conversation. They were talking about eating. Nothing interesting. Well, she had to find out something. If Layla wasn't spilling her secrets to this cat, maybe a bit of sweet-talking would reveal some of the truth. But... Mordecai. Turning back to him reluctantly, she mouthed the words, "Stay there. I'm just going to ask her a few questions." Please don't hate me for too long. Then she skipped into the alley before he could catch her and claw her face off. If Mordecai was even capable of clawing her face off. As soon as she entered the alley, Foxglove assumed a friendly but nervous expression, moving towards the two cats so that they could see her. Glancing from one to the other, she wondered how they'd ended up together. The tom didn't look like an alley-cat, even by the way he held himself she could tell that he hadn't been on the streets long. And Layla... looked extremely familiar. "Oh my!" Foxglove's eyes widened, and she stopped dramatically, "Oh. My. Gosh. I totally know you!" She gave a girlish giggle, "How do I know you? Where we like, best friends in a former life? Or something? Um, wait," Foxglove looked at the tom as if noticing him for the first time, "Am I like, interrupting something? Oh my gosh, I was, wasn't I? I'm so sorry! I totally didn't mean to!" She paused for a moment, the carried on with a smile, "I'm Foxglove. And you're Layla. And you're someone-I-don't-know. I know you're Layla because I heard someone say your name. And then I was like, oh my gosh! I recognise that name! So I um, followed you in here, but you seemed busy, so I like, hid - I wasn't listening or anything creepy, I swear - and then I saw you were getting read to leave so I came in. Was that okay? Is this your, like, property or something?"

[*huggles* ouo Ohmygosh I'm so amused xD.]

Mordecai kept his eyes on Foxglove. He wouldn't follow her, he didn't feel like angering her anymore. Nor was he in he mood for conflict. At least not with Foxglove. For a moment he let himself imagine digging his claws into Layla's pelt. He opened his eyes just in time to see the end of what Foxglove was mouthing to him. Ask her a few questions? What did she mean by asking her a few questions? What kind of idiotic idea...? Mordecai stood up and opened his mouth to yell at her but she was gone beore he could form anything worth saying. He considered running after her and stopping her but he figured that'd only put her in more danger than she already was in for doing something so absurd. She was gonna get herself hurt. She was. Growling furiously he paced back and forth, hair on end. What in the hell was she thinking? Worry flooded him, replacing, or, rather, covering up, his anger at Foxglove. And he was the kitten here. She was the one with kittenish ideas.

---

If Julian was anything, he was a stupid housecat. A stupid, ignorant, helpless house cat. One who had the potential to grow completely unaware of his surroundings if he became absorbed in something else. In this case, he was completely focused on Layla and very ignorant to the fact that Foxglove was listening in on them. He was also unaware that Fog was following them, but Fog didn't suddenly pop out of nowhere and start chatting with Layla. Julian nearly jumped out of his fur as the red-furred she-cat suddenly jumped into the picture, jabbering away. She sounded just like a housecat and he wondered for a moment if she was. Affter getting over the initial shock of her sudden appearance he noticed she could be considered pretty, but a tentative glance at Layla was enough to assure him he was with the prettier cat. "My name's Julian." he meowed indignantly. This rather self-absorbed previous housecat didn't take well to being referred to as "someone-I-don't-know. "I'm not 'someone-you-don't-know, I'm Julian."
