This looks very interesting, and I can see one of my characters fitting in very well with the plot. I'd love to join if you make it. ^^
As for ideas, perhaps some sort of overall goal is there for the characters, in both worlds? It keeps characters from standing around unsure what to do. And perhaps the goals could contradict, making it so more progress in one world means backwards progress in the other? I don't know, this is random ideas that happen when I get up this early. ^^"

Haha, well, the plot is exactly what I need the most help with. But I like your idea, about how the goal in one world contradicts the other. Perhaps this can be worked into the story somehow... after I figure out what the story will be in the first place.

This seems interesting enough. Are you dead set on people literally popping into a new world? I could see this plot becoming something like this:

When the "fits" occur the people retreat into their own minds, tapping into true human creativity and imagination. While these fits happen the person has experiences directly related to their own desires [whether they consciously acknowledge them or not], be it meeting someone, have a spot of adventure, or shoot lightning bolts out of their eyes, I don't know. Anyways, as they wake up it's kind of like a dream--you forget it after a while. However, what if these people are actually tampering with their "waking" reality, their dreams and fits sometimes bleeding into the "real" world. It would be subtle at first. Some stranger says hi to you. You feel a bit weary that morning as if you'd been running all night ... But slowly there are strange occurrences all over the place. Strange creatures, mysterious deaths, disappearances under suspicious circumstances...Quickly you realize that your dreams may be a lot more ... potent. The worlds of your mind and your body are beginning to mix together. The problem is that you have no idea how to stop it--without killing your brain function, which you'd seriously not prefer. But for all innocent conceptions and feelings in the mind, you mustn't forget the bleak ones. But how can you fight an idea?

I totally expanded on that and probably went in a direction you didn't want. But it got me thinking.

Actually, I was thinking all along that this other world could be something like a dream world. Maybe I should have elaborated more on that. Anyway, I thought that perhaps time could pass differently in the dreams, so that while the characters are busy running around the world for a few days, only one day or two could have passed in the real world. This will also make the dreams more tangible than just any old dream. Having the character's dreams be connected could somehow be worked into the plot too. And how their actions, interactions, and even their state of mind bleed into their real life... hmm, yes, I like this idea more than my original one. Like you said, mysterious and frightening things could begin happening, creatures passing from one world into another, somebody disappearing... maybe for a creature from one world to pass over into another, somebody from the real world would have to take its place?

Also, this got me thinking... I think that there could be something happening to the world on a much larger scale than their little adventures, and, working Riliane & Allen’s idea into it, it could have our characters working to set things right without even realizing it, and sometimes their actions would end up in disaster in the real world, while appearing to have set things right in their dream world. Perhaps something in their dreams is sending them signals of some sort, nudging them on the right path but never holding their hand, and making them figure things out on their own [and ultimately leaving them to make mistakes]. Am I making sense?

Oh, and, I forgot to mention something. I thought about the main setting in the normal world being in an orphanage, or at least a boarding school, since this will allow our characters to have easy access to each other. But while having them live in completely different areas could be a little more challenging, it could also end up being more fun...

haha, I figured the "dreams" would be a lot more tangible than dreams.

I think it would be fun in different areas ... perhaps even different parts of the world, although that might be too hard to pull off. Disasters are happening in various places, and the characters are inexplicably led by their dreams to a meeting point ...

how about the characters can interact w/ each other in their "dreams" but don't really recognize each other as real ... this would work best if they lived in separate areas. of course, I think having a couple of people in the same area [2-3 people per city, maybe?] would leave room for interaction in the waking world.

The world now lives in darkness; the time for humans has come.

Few colonies resist, hidden in inaccessible places, where no one would bother to search. They are no longer necessary, someone has replaced them. When in 2061, the countries decided to set social statuses by the knowledge and the physical characteristics of a person; they couldn't imagine what this would lead to. Soon, the most genetically graced people decided to "unite": the rest of the society didn't matter, only them. Their descendants inherited their parent’s abilities: they were far cleverer, agile, strong; a whole new breed. They were called by the humans "Experiments"; they called themselves "Optimei", the golden race. Humans started a war against them, trying to get back the power, to hide them in cells, but they were better, faster. Humans soon started to disappear, the Optimei first tried to be discrete: poisoning rivers, supplies, air, stealing medicines and releasing new laboratory viruses. But when humans tried to fight back with the few weapons they had left, the Optimei chased them down, in the forest, in their houses, in their own cities. Humans are now in the jungle, just a few thousands of them, while others live in the catacombs of the biggest cities, as prisoners. Every year, some of those humans are executed, but once every four years, there’s a big event: a maze. Humans between the ages of 14 to 25 are sent to New York, which isn’t a city right now, just a couple of old ruins. There, they’ll make teams, alliances, friends and even love, but they’ll have to fight for food, water, supplies and medicines. They’ll have to kill each other, until only two remain. Those are the winners, the rest are losers.

Here's one, about surviving in the Rocky Mountains, along with surviving the group that you're stuck with.
The Secret To Survival

Beautiful, isn't it? It's easier to look at it than survive here for how ever long you're stuck. Backpackers get lost in the mountains all the time, but this group wasn't prepared to stay the night. Or the week. Or the month. I'm Robin, one of the lost back packers. The group is from a city downtown with people that love to backpack - this doesn't mean we all like each other. It all started when we were in the middle of out hike, one of the longest trails, but also one of the more breath-taking. Too bad we didn't make it to the top. Now all we have to do is survive the wild. And each other. This is why you never go off the trail.

This next one is about breaking from juve before the 17 year olds are send to a real prison and be trialed as an adult.
Breaking For Freedom

Juve. The prison for any rebellious teenager. What's worst than that? Being 17 going on 18 and in juvenile prison. Nothing's worse than being trialed as an adult. No one wants to go from the closest thing they know as a playground to the real world, but that's life. Most in this situation try to fight it, try to get out of it, and eventually break and take their punishment. In my mind, that's not an option. I will fight it, will get out, and refuses to go down with the rest of them. I've been under lock and hold for two, almost three years now, and you'd think that's long enough for a fifteen year old, right? Well here's my problem - I'm sentenced to 15 to life; and I'm not seeing my life like that. Not ever.
There's newbies coming in all the time, most thinking they're so cool, they're what it's all about, but eventually get owned by the alpha of the block. In my block, there's a a few newbies that's in somewhat of the same situation.We all want out - before it's too late. What's the catch you ask? Ha. No catch. Just listen to me, don't piss me off, and maybe we can help each other get outta this hell hole. So, whatta' say? You gonna help me break, or I'm I leaving you here to rot?

Nakalla wasn't losing her hope, though. She crouched down and dug down deep into the snow, finding some frozen berries. She took her bag, a human item made of buffalo skin, and piles the food into it. Then she rose her head to the wind, and, like her practice always was, looked for any shadows in the wind. She had found many throughout her stay here. Most dead, many dying, and many fully alive but doing the death dance, asking for mercy and freedom from the place they lived in now.
"I ended their suffering."
She frowned into another wave of snow, but braved it and called out.

Would anyone be willing to join an Xmen-esque roleplay with me? I would prefer it to be large group. It's not exactly Xmen, just the idea of the a "School for the Gifted" who have special mutations that provide them with unnatural, and often hidden away, talents. Basically, Charles Xavier's whole academy in the movie. There might be a plot later on, but mainly it would be just the mystery of discovering your powers, and maybe romance/conflict/drama/etc thrown in there.

For literate peeps, though.

I would need help on developing a plot, honestly. I am not too good with developing plots for those type of roleplays, but am game for anything.

Well, if you want to toy with discovering powers, it might be a good idea to go into the very start of when the powers begin to appear, you know? The government isn't currently aware that something like this is happening [or if they are, then it's just silly rumors, of course] while the mansion is being set up and reaching out to people that need help.
Perhaps groups of people that find each other set up their own organizations, one group happening to set up this mansion and others constructing smaller, larger, similar, or completely different buildings on their own. Anyways.

After that there are a couple of paths you can go down that are rather obvious [and you'll have to give me a bit to think of a really obscure plot, because it's past midnight, I should be doing history notes, and I'm also rather hungry. I should eat something]: there can be a conflict between the groups that have set up in this area OR you can make the groups widely known to the public/government and the humans-with-powers thing coming to the surface.
Either way, it would be somewhat like setting precedent for what would happen in the future. What these people decide can shape the rest of the politics of the entire debate, since they're the first people that have abilities like this. They'll be serving as an example to regular humans.
