Thought Process - PUPPIES!!!!!

With the four puppies, well six if you count Reed and Charlie, now in the Puppy room it really starts to sink in how hard this is going to be. I walk over to the cabinet and pull out a small bag of treats, the only way to get puppies to pay attention. Slowly I make my way over the fence dangling the bag so all the puppies can see, and funny automatically Reed and Charlie sit, thankfully they both know this trick. Tank takes a quick look over at Reed and Charlie as he sees me toss them a treat for sitting, and slowly he sits mimicking them, but however not taking his eyes off the treats. Koda, Kane and Leo however, a long time way to go, because they were jumping up and down to me begging for the treats. "Sit," I say firmly mostly to the puppies, because Reed, Charlie and Tank where already sitting. Koda and Kane had no clue what that means and they both start barking madly, but thankfully Leo makes a sort of playful bow then sits down. I toss him a treat, Koda and Kane give me puppy eyes and start to whimper wondering what they did wrong. Sealing the bag I bend down and they all come forward, licking my face, I pat every one but Koda and Kane to praise them. Standing back up, I again say, "Sit," still firmly letting them know I am in charge. Reed, Charlie, and Tank sit automatically, and Leo does ofter a little bit of consideration, then I reward them all with treats. At this point Koda and Kane are going crazy, they both really want a treat, but they haven't understood that to get a treat they must sit. I repeat bending down and standing up saying sit a couple of times, Koda and Kane still not getting the memo, but Tank and Leo have it down to a science. Figuring that I was going to have to teach them alone, I pick the two of them up and walk outside, I left Reed, Charlie, Tank and Leo in the play room they deserved a little fun.
With Koda and Kane sitting staring at me, well not me the bag of treats in my hand, outside of the Kennels. I kneel down, and they automatically think I am giving them a treat they jump up and start nipping at my hand wanting me to open it, but I have nothing in my hand, just a new idea that might help their training. Now that I am at there level I take a treat out of the bag and hold it firmly between my figures so they can't get it, but they can lick it an know its there. I start with Koda, I bring the treat close to his face, almost pushing him back, and as I do so I start to put it over his head. He is confused at first, but his desire to get the treat superseded his confusion, he first bends back, but since I am going going at his face he has to back up, and ends up sitting. Right as he does I both release the treat and say "Sit," firmly. Kane is however, not being helpful at all, just nipping at my shirt and trying to take Koda's treat. I decide that it will be easier without Kane, so I put him back with the others and go back to training Koda. I repeat what I did with him the first time a couple times, and he starts to get the hang of it, so I stand up and command him to sit, he does, but questioningly. I was so proud of him, so i bend down and give him his treat as well as hug him, then plant a big kiss on his head. He is learning, it is possible.
