Hawkeye and Black Widow, in my opinion, are under-developed characters. Black Widow was surely there just as eye candy. Hawkeye was a bit of a moaner,and he was useless the entire movie, in the sense that he was under Loki's control the whole time. They should've actually put some useful people in, like Hellboy, and Wolverine. :T /endrant/ I hope I didn't offend anyone, just putting up a rant.

Agreed! And, to be fair, I agree with you on the fact that Black Widow was just there for Eye Candy. Why else would they have chosen Scarlett for Widow's actress? xP

Actually I thought that they had a good number
too many main characters and the story seems a little unfocused,
The movie really seemed to center around Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Thor and Loki anyway.
The rest of the characters seemed sidelined.

I mean that with an ensemble cast like that, it's kinda hard to find a balance.
I've seen that with some of Joss Whedon's other works, (Joss Whedon directed and co-wrote Avengers) one or two characters will often end up taking over a particular story.

Yeah, I am really hard to please when it comes to superhero casting in movies, but they did a pretty good job in The Avengers (Especially Loki xD).
