Freedom. Such a funny word to be said throughout Aiden's body. It was such a small word, and yet it was the reason that there was purpose in his life once again. He had always thought about the word, but in all honesty he had never truly thought that it would ever come to him. He had never imagined that they were one day going to be flying above the city where they would be hiding from their once-captors. He was tired of being poked and prodded and tested on, never knowing if he was going to make it another day alive. He didn't want to be just an experiment. He was the "Little Flame", and if those at the School wanted to get him back, they were going to have to taste the fire first. Even though he was pretty sure they couldn't have been followed this far, he still felt like they were being followed. He looked behind the group, but there was nothing but white, fluffy clouds surrounding them. His ears could not hear anything but the wind, so he suspected that they were not being followed anymore. Aiden finally allowed himself to close his eyes and feel the wind whip his hair about. It felt like heaven, flying up here. Inside he knew that those at the School wouldn't be giving them up so easily, but for the moment they were free.
Aiden suddenly felt a rush of air catch his wings and jolt him upwards. He probably looked pretty stupid letting the air catch him without him noticing at all, so a little blush escaped onto his face. Almost as quickly as it had appeared it was gone, he didn't like others seeing things like that on himself. However, the air ended up becoming his friend as quickly as it had embarrassed him. Underneath him, he could see the clouds slowly opening up to reveal a sight that took his breath away. A large array of little doll houses were below him. Around the little doll houses, there were miniature... everything. But... The doll houses looked in no way celery. Run-down, battered and possibly frightening more explained what he saw. Then suddenly a strange realization dawned on him, Wait a second, there are no people. He looked around at the group, and he wondered if they were all looking at the same thing he was. It really was a not a pretty sight, but after the first moment, the only thing that thrilled him about it was that there would be a lot of space to be able to run from the Erasers. He knew that the scientists were bound to send the Erasers after them, but there was no way he was going to let them bring them back to the wretched School.
He beat his heavy wings harder as he began rising steadily into the clouds above. He kept his eyes open as he rose, he didn't want to miss anything of what he was about to do. He wanted to see the city in which he was going to live firsthand. He needed to figure out what was going on. He had been told cities were places of life and much excitement, but here he saw one of that. He needed to know why. He didn't want to have a boring decent, he wanted action. After he had risen a significant amount, he smiled a devilish smile before clasping his wings tightly around his body. He first went a little higher, then he fell so that he was going headfirst towards the ground. He plummeted past where the rest of his group was flying, and he began his straightforward plummet towards the group of dollhouses. His hoodie hood flapped behind him, slapping his head silly. When he was about to hit the ground, he spread his wings out once more, gliding to a halt on the ground. He looked around where he had landed. His face twisted a little as he realized he had landed right next to a nasty smelling dumpster. He brought his wings tight against his back and pulled his hoodie over them. The slits he had cut were exposing their color a little, but not so much that it was noticeable. There was a smell of death lingering around the dumpster, so he went around the back of it to find where the smell was coming from. His face drew back in horror as he saw an arm sticking out from under it. Looking under the dumpster he saw the rest of the body. He then slowly started to move away from the dumpster. Get used to it Aiden, this is your new home...
