"I don't require any payment." William said as he looked at Nate and took in his rather sullen looking eyes. They were clouded with the hardships of poverty, but held a spark of something else. Something he couldn't place. It intrigued the angel, who was so used to just seeing the empty eyes of souls with no sense of hope. These were different. They wanted more, but werent sure on how to get there.
He lowered his gaze to pack up his medical kit, and tucked it away before retracting a few slips of money from the same pocket. He looked around to be sure there were no thugs hanging around before giving it to Nate. "Its not enough for a doctor, but spend it wisely on other nessecities." he suggested, standing back up and brushing off the seat of his pants.

Nate nodded slowly and took the money tucking it away in his jacket pocket. He was to stunned to question the startling generosity and just watch William with a mixture of confusion and slight awe. Was he insane? Nate dragged himself to his feet using a crumbling wall and his good leg to support the majority of his weight. Unlike William Nate didn't bother brushing himself of it seemed pointless at the time. Nate scrambled for words to express how much the man's actions met to him but he couldn't find the right ones. "Thank you." was all he could manage to say in regards to what he did.
"I really appreciate this all but why help me of all people? I'm sure you can understand my confusion, what's in it you you William?" he added needing to get some awnsers before he started on his way home and sat awake all night trying to figure it out. Nate was raised by a mean man; he never revived affection from his father, his mother had died when he was too young to remember her, and all his friends had very been helpful or caring towards him. And now a random stranger was showing more compassion for him then any other human ever had. Somthing was not right here; Nate just coukdn't shake that feeling of distrust.

William looked at Nate as he questioned his actions. It was so like a human. To do something without expecting something in return. They were such greedy, selfish creatures. But then again, no one was perfect. Even he couldn't sit there and say he hadn't sinned in some point in his long life, so he didn't try to. "I helped you because you needed it. It's not in my nature to just watch people suffer, and you sitting there tearing at your clothes was more then enough to make me stop." he said, being honest. He found no reason to lie or sugarcoat it, and Nate seemed like the type who could take the truth bluntly. He brushed his pants off again, tucking his hanky into his pocket to be washed later. "Besides. You seem like someone who has a lot of promise."
The angel pushed his glasses up as he regarded the young man, patiently awaiting an answer that would either end the conversation, or continue it.

Nate nodded slightly, he could understand it if he took a minute. Sure if Nate could he would help people; there where plenty of others that where in the same or worst shape then himself and it broken his heart for awhile seeing little children starve to death or be murdered. It wasn't until William help him hd he relished how cold he had grown to the tragities of everyday life around him.
The second thing William had said brought him back to the conversation at hand. "I show promise?" he scoffed. Nate didn't see himself as anything special he was a green haired kid covered in tattoos that lived in the slums. Walk around any street and you will stummble upon dozens with the same story as himself. "I almost thought you were sane for a minute." he added eyeing the mysterious man whom he so desperately wanted to understand.

Willam listened, and at the comment, he shrugged, the ghost of a smile teasing the corners of his mouth. "Maybe, maybe not." he said, pushing up his glasses again. "You just don't see things the way I do." the brute continued, then looked down the street. He hned, knowing there was probably someone else in trouble, but this boy with the foggy eyes intrigued him to know end. He was sure that this wouldn't be the only meeting they had. Fate was just like that. But, he kept his opinions to himself for the most part, and straightened his jacket and the cuffs of his sleeves. His mixed gaze settled back on Nate. "I would hurry home before your ankle gives out on you again." William urged.

Nate smirked and rolled his eyes at William and his weird vague responses. Nate glanced back down at his ankle and nodded solemly his smirk fading quickly. "Good idea. Well I just I'll see you around; thanks again man." he said raise a hand to wave good bye before he turned away and headed back down the street. Luckily it wasn't to far of a walk to his home but the dull but nagging pain in his ankle made it uncomfortable. He wanted those thug to gt what they deserve so babble but he didn't have the power to do it and no one else would. Maybe karma would get them one day.
After a couple minutes walk, he was home. His house was a decaying townhouse style thing with borders up windows and and a dented metal door that didn't even lock anymore . Nate pushed the door open when his shoulder and partially fell into the house and over to a pile of tattered blankets on the dusty floor. It was great to sit down again he ran a hand though his hair roughly and pulled out the ponytail letting it hang down to his shoulders Agianst in it's messy waves. No one was home at the moment and Nate was thankful for that fact he lived with his friends a girl and another guy both about his age.
Nate leaned back agianst the wall and tryed to claw his eyes and sleep but his mind just keep replying the days odd chain of events and his new aqantanice.

Once Nate was out of sight, William turned on his heel and continued on down the strret. He kept an eye out for those who were worse off, and the city didn't disappoint. He found several others, some with infected ounds, and others just too poor to afford a sip of water. He helped them as best as he could, money wise and with his little medicine kit. They all thanked him, and they were all still alive, but looking at them, and they were all just the same empty husks that he had seen countless times before. Their eyes were glazed over, dumb with no sensation of want. He felt pity for these creatures, the ones who couldn't find something to look for. To crave.
The kids called him The Angel. It was a silly title, one based off the stories they had heard, and they would whisper it to him when he knelt down to their level. He would simply smile and thank them, then send them on their way. If only they knew that their little pet name rang true. He wondered faintly how they would react.
