Maya notched the arrow, pulled back and released. It hit her in the lower leg. "D*mn!" She cursed and flew away.

Nicole:
I scream. Loud and Long....
I fall to the ground in a painful position. It's like millions of needles were jabbed into my skin then wiggled around while boiling water was poured over my skin. I close my eyes, dispite the danger of the small action. I bite my bottom lip trying to hold back my screaming. The pain is awful. I feel like i'm on fire and some ones stabbing me with ice to make the fire go out. I curl into a ball and fall through the roots of a tree and into a small underground cave. It's dark and all I can hear is the pounding of my heart. All I can feel is the pain in my leg. All i can hope is that I maybe have sponsors and my Jake.... still.

Maya could tell the girl was hurt but she was still flying away. It wouldn't be fatal. She flew to the cave and clambered in.

[[well, not a lot. three dragons attacked and then left so the tributes could attack eachother. then maya shot nicole in the lower leg and flew away.]]

[ Jake ]

I swear loudly. "Nicole!" I race towards the sound of her screams, petrified that she'd been hurt somewhere fatal. I notice blood on the ground, and I follow the trail. "Nicole," I say, breathlessly as I sprint to her hidey-hole. "Please. Tell me where you're hurt." I grab her hand, pull the top half of her out, wrap my arms around her, and squeeze. I'm sure I'm more scared that she is about this whole thing.

Nicole:
I'm afraid to unclench my teeth. I close my eyes and let him hold me. I open them just long enough to look down at my leg and nod. The pain, it's so..... everything goes black.

[ Jake ]

I shake my head. "No. You can't shut your eyes!" I shake her gently, becoming frantic. "Please! Wake up! Nicole, you have to stay awake!" I set her gently on the ground, and move so I can see her leg better. It's bleeding nonstop, and looks like it doesn't have any intentions of stopping. I peel back her pants leg, and nearly throw up. It looks bloody and violent. I see an arrow shaft embedded in it. I shut my eyes to clear my head, and I scoop her up. I cradle her to my chest, and break out into a run. "Water," I murmur. "We need water." I go slower than usual, but we make it to the river without anymore dents and scratches. I look in both directions, making sure there's nobody else near, and I go back to the woods. I keep my ears trained on Nicole and the river, and my eyes on the path. I know we can't stay in the open. It's too dangerous. We wouldn't be able to run and escape. I find a small cove, and set her down so her leg is in the water. I scoop up water in my hands and press down on her leg. "Please, please, please don't die."
