Tom chuckled and sat on a blanket, leaning his back against a tree. For some reason, he couldn't sleep. There was something that was keeping him awake. Shrugging, the hobbit lit his pipe and gazed up at the starry sky thoughtfully. He wondered why he had been sent on this mission, why he had to carry the pendant. The pendant! He picked it out of his pocked and looked at its beautiful, yet dark design. He touched it softly, running his fingers over the carved metal. Suddenly, he felt like putting it on again. What harm would it do? Slowly, he picked it up and hung the chain round his neck.
Inmediatley, the little hobbit felt like he was drowning. It felt like water was all around him, yet there wasn't. Scared, he opened his eyes, and saw many swirling shapes and patterns, shades of gray and blue. Tom desperatly tried to run away, but he could see a star in the distance. It was huge, and it was shimmering, but not like the lovely white and yellow stars that he had seen just a few minutes ago. It was black, gleaming the darkest colour. The star seemed to attract him in a way he could't control, and the hobbit grabbed on to the pendant, screaming for help.
((I just made up something similar to what the ring did. I hope its ok
