Thanks! I'll consider the name Blu. I just had a good look at every kitten. Two are orange, one is really calico, one of the black ones has a speck of orange, and then there's the blue-ish one! So excited! Hope they make it tonight, it's chilly out, but mommy's nice and warm :)

Oriental short hair. My dream cat is an oriental short hair that is either cinnamon or tortie.

Maybe this will help with names:
The two red kittens are most likely male, though there is a chance they are female.
The calico and the black and orange(sounds like a tortie) kittens are female(very slim chance of a male).
I don't believe blue is sex linked, so it could be a boy or girl.
I personally adore reds and calicos/torties.

If it's chilly, you should try to move mama cat inside, or provide her with protection from the weather. Block any drafts, and give her plenty of blankets if she is being protective. Make sure you get mama cat and the kittens to the vet in the morning.

Thanks, that really helped. I'm still working on names, I know many names for female orange kittens, but not males!! It seems everyone did fine over the night. If they do get cold I know where there's a big blanket to block out drafts and give to mommy. we can't get them to the vet now, but maybe soon.

Have you considered picking a theme and then naming them all after it? Such as all Disney characters, or vegetables, or Greek/Roman gods/godesses, etc. Sometimes you just have to wait and see what they are like before you name them. My female cat is named Peanut, because she was the same color as a hamster we had. One of my males(sibling to Peanut) is named Velcro, because he sticks to everything and everything sticks to him. My 2nd male is named Jabba(after Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars), because he use to be quite fat. He's still pretty lazy, so it still suits him, even though he's not fat anymore.

Animals that have just had babies need to be seen by the vet to make sure everything went alright, and no infections have set in. Having babies is possibly the most stressful thing any female could go through, so the immune system can become compromised. The kittens should be examined now to make sure they made it out alright and to rue out birth defects. Normally they are fine, but if there is fluid in the lungs, or a developmental issue, the vet can correct it immediately, so the kitten can safely grow. You never want to take chances with baby animals, because once they get sick they can spiral out of control very fast.

The kittens and mom have been checked and they all are pretty healthy. Now I'm just going to ignore everyone for about a week. Mom doesn't nurse while she's being watched, and I don't want her to give up completly. That's how her last litter died, she let them starve, and they didn't like bottle feeding. So, in one week, I'll start giving them LOADS of attention.. ;)

So, I was some kitten questions. I'll also ask my vet next time I see him.

Whats the best age to get my 4 week old kitten neutered? I know neutering has no bad effect on young cats like dogs so I was just wondering.

We're weaning on to solids right now. What some of the best foods for kitten? We tried Natural Balance and he refused to touch the venison, but really liked the turkey. NB was pretty cheap, but I didn't like the unnamed meat in one of them. :l I think I'll try him on some raw ground turkey soon and see how he does. What age can I start adding raw bones to his diet..?
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Cardinal-round 6 months is usually the best time for neutering :3

A raw diet is great for cats too ^^
My Pet Carnivore sells fine ground meat/organ/bone mixes that are good for cats/kittens as a starter. If you want to go with more solid meats though, you can start to add soft bones once the kitten is completely on raw and his system has adjusted:3

All my animals are on partial raw diets..;D I honestly just do not have the time for prep when it comes to a fully raw diet, although it would most likely end up being cheaper for me. :l

I'm read a few places that kittens can be altered as early as 7 weeks with no adverse effects, its just harder to find a vet to do it.

I just love raw diets ^^ Also I meant to add, if you haven't looked already, MPC has some pretty cheap prices on their meat, which is one of the reasons I love to buy from them :3
When it comes to cats and bones, I think that chicken and rabbit bones are the best because they are very soft. I don't think you should go much harder than that. But I could be wrong, I've never had a cat on raw before...

Yes I think it is perfectly safe to neuter at an earlier age without complications, but yeah you'll probably have a harder time finding a vet that'll do it so early.
