[Falls]

Tessa fell silent at the mention of death. She picked her fork up and moved the food around her plate the cool it down. "Thank you for making this. This is definitely above and beyond what I was expecting!" She offered him a smile and then lifted a bite of food to her mouth. To her delight, this was way better than the take-out she sometimes ordered from local Chinese restaurants. She scooped another bite into her mouth, forcing herself to chew slowly so that she wouldn't make herself throw it back up.

((Sorry for the delay, I was cooking some stir-fry. XD ))

Vicente smiled. "No problem." he said as he stood up, pouring to glasses of ice tea. He took them to the table, sitting down and picking up his fork to eat.

Tessa swallowed another bite of food, silently arguing with herself in her mind. To pry or not to pry? She chose "pry" and lifted her grey-blue eyes up to Vicente's crimson eyes. "How did he die?" she asked quietly, her expression abashedly curious.

Vicente's smile fell to a soft, contemplative frown. "He died of old age, simply. I never aged, and thus, I've outlived him. He died about fifty years ago. He gave me the pendant on his death-bed." Vicente responded. It was painful for him to talk about. One truly knew loneliness whenever they outlived every friend they once had.

[Falls]

Tessa's eyes held a saddness in them; a saddness for poor Vicente who had to sit and watch everyone die as he lived on. "I'm sorry," she murmured, reaching a pale hand across the table and resting it over his. Her tone was sincere. She wished she could help him somehow.

Vicente gave a sigh, mustering up a smile for Tessa. Though, he remained silent in this. His plate was empty now, for he hadn't gotten much to begin with. He felt no appetite at the moment, though. He reached up his free hand to the golden pendant, sliding his fingertips across the smooth, shining metal. "His name was Andarius." he murmured softly.

"Andarius..." Tessa repeated the unusual name, trying out the feel of it rolling off her tongue and past her lips. "It's a beautiful pendant. Heirloom? Or did he come by it in a different way?" She wasn't sure whether she should still be talking about Vicente's dead friend, but it seemed rude to just drop the subject.

((Why thank you! It's 9 p.m., and I decided to eat something today. thus, I cooked stir-fry. Not like this RP made me want chinese food...))

Vicente glanced to his pendant, running his hand across the smooth metal. "He made it himself. It was back when he and I were kids. His father worked as a blacksmith, and he had his own forge. So, Andarius decided to mess around with the gold ore and the diamonds he had, and he made this." Vicente chuckled softly, a smile on his face as the memories rekindled after so long ago. About a century or two.

[I feel lame now. I got hungry too, so I just threw some randomness in the blender and made a smoothie T.T I would break out some French family recipes to try to one-up you, but I think my laziness outweighs my pride right now...]

Tessa smiled, pulling her hand back and propping it up to rest her chin on it. "Man, I think I'm jealous of your friend's skillz now. If that's just tinkering around, then I'd give anything to see his serious work. Where did you know him from? Were you neighbors or something?" She was pretty sure she sounded pretty newb. She had no idea when and where Vicente had grown up, so her questions had to stay fairly general.

"I was born in Rome, as was he. I was running about the streets whenever I stopped at his father's forge. We became friends then." Vicente said with a soft smile and a nod. "I think it was around... 1875 whenever he made the necklace. I was thirteen at the time, and he was fourteen." Vicente said, looking up as he tried to remember if he got the correct date.
