Legolas frowned thoughtfully, ignoring her somewhat rude remark, and looked up at the sky in contemplation. "Then we should deal with the bands, before striking them at their production source. Then if we cripple their production, Sauron will have to turn to other sources of warriors. That would take him a while, giving us a chance to confront him and recover the shadows tone." he mused aloud, running his hands through the ends of his hair.

Theoden wrote:Where now are the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the harp on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.
Who shall gather the smoke of the deadwood burning,
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Aragorn raised an eyebrow "This is no children's tale" he said, smiling sadly. He then turned his gaze to the dragon. " We cannot get there in ten days, but we shall ride towards them as fast as we can. When do you think you will be able to fly again?" he said thoughtfully, biting his lip "We must defeat him before his new army rises, and recover the shadowstone. Tell me, did you see any way out of that cave under the mountains, or any way in?"

Nightshade flapped her wings experimentally a couple of times. "I should be able to fly in a day at most. I'm still feeling kind of unsteady." she turned toward Aragorn. "I did see a way in, but it was very well guarded. There was a creature near the entrance that I didn't recognize, like a dragon, but twisted and strange. It looked very ancient, the kind of thing that's been lurking in dark holes since the beginning of time. I would not be able to fight such a thing on my own, not in such a closed-in space with my shadow powers as weakened as they are."

Aragorn nodded slowly "For now, it is better to concentrate in defeating the bands. We shall work out a way in afterward" he stood up and mounted his horse."We better get going, now" He glanced from one side to another, watching the forest nearby. They shouldn't have been talking so loudly, as there was no knowing what spies could be on duty.

Legolas nodded. "We shall ride to Mordor alone, then? I still believe that we must rally a large army first. Perhaps we could send messengers to call for any aid that people are willing to give." he frowned, remembering the carnage of the battles that he and Aragorn had fought in when they didn't have enough men.

Amavin's hand slid across the saddle of her horse as she pulled herself up. The elf flexed her back on top of her mount and looked at them. "We should see about gathering people on our way there. I'm sure we will have many chances to collect people." She readjusted the saddle bags, tying them closed as she had no more use for them. Her horse was eager to move, but Amavin's metal grip on the reigns held it firm.

Legolas frowned as he realized something. "I need to run to Bree first. I have no horse, and would not be able to keep up with you, even after being able to catch Uruks running. May I borrow a horse? I can ride swiftly and be back before three hours are gone."

Legolas dipped his head in thanks to Aragorn and mounted up, turning the horse and galloping towards Bree with a whisper of a few elvish words. The horse's hooves clattered across the Brandywine Bridge within a few minutes, and not long after that he could see the buildings of Bree. When he reached the small town, he slowed the horse and searched out a stable master. After asking a few people, he found one that sold reputable horses for large folk. Legolas didn't mind spending a bit of money on a good mount, and selected a tall golden mare with black points, as well as tack to ride her with. The man thanked him kindly for his purchase and Legolas rode away on Aragorn's horse, leading the mare behind.
