A cold night in Vegas. The streets were alive with lights and laughter, and all throughout the city, there were games and shows all throughout the city, and at the end of one of the least busy streets was a lively little casino. Little compared to all the other casinos in Vegas. It was an unusual little place, some of the people walking in looking nervous and scared, shaking. Even so, it attracted new customers day after day. Brand new customers that would appear from what seemed like nowhere. The exterior was extravagant, absolutely beautiful, with fountains mounted against the big eggshell coloured wall of the casino that stood over twenty stories high. There were lights planted by the sidewalk, whining towards the casino and there was a wide parking lot just across the street where many people were coming from. There wasn't a line into the casino, and not a soul seemed upset while playing their little games against the dealers or the machines.
Within the sandstone walls of the casino, was a carpeted room. The walls and floor coloured in dull reds, greens and yellows, the ceiling checkered with lights and everywhere, there would be some kind of game. Slot machines lined up to the far right, betting chip machines everywhere, scattered throughout the casino and other betting games here and there. A bar at the back of the casino was as empty as a loser's wallet, and stairs to the second floor was not too far away from that. On the second floor, it was decorated in a dark red, the lights dimmed, and a much more elaborate bar that stretched along one entire side of a wall, tables for playing poker and blackjack dotted the floor, and at the back of the dark room was a pair of black doors, two men in suits watching over that door as if the fate of the world depended on it. That was the door in which you had to enter, every night, for ten nights, and tonight would be your first.
Entering those doors, you find yourself in a big black room. And from there, your challenge begins. Everyone in the room receives the following items after their brand new watch is strapped to their wrists. The woman who had placed the watch on your wrist speaking with a smile on her face. It was one that she was not allowed to slip away. She started to read off a card in her hand.
"Tonight, you will be in a challenge of wits. Tonight, you will fight against each other with your wits. Today, you will be in an escape act. Come with us." The woman said in a voice smooth as velvet. She turned, her red dress waving with her while a few Suits -casino workers in suits- led you through a door that you have never seen before, blindfolds placed over all of your eyes and earmuffs over your ears to keep you from knowing where it is that you will be taken.
Though you all may be unable to see or hear, you can still feel. The feeling of walking up a few steps and the feeling of wind created by sliding doors comes over you. Your weight being pressed down over your legs alerts your to that you are on an elevator. The ride wasn't longer than a minute, but it could have been like hours were ticking by with the loss of two senses.
Once on the fifth floor, everyone is lead out and taken to a room, a large empty tank for each vic- erm… player… lined up against the wall. Each of you lose your earmuffs and are locked into one room for each of you, and finally, someone says, "Remove your blindfolds."
The room is empty, and you can see all of your opponents. There is a path all around the room for you all to leave, but in the little cells that you are locked in, there is a padlock on the plexiglass door, a mat, a chair, and a rope in each of your cells. At the top of the cell is a light, so seeing anything up there now was impossible.
"This is your challenge. Now solve it."
