I think you've done well here for a laptop or mouse.
You can't get things like this drawn properly using laptop pads or a mouse, it's just not natural. So this is really good!
Like me, you need to practise lips more, and the (his left, our right) ear needs bringing down to mach the other, as you can see by your guide lines!
When reading your book did you test the anatomy on your self?
To test, put your two fore fingers against the top of eyes, center of your mouth (closed) and bottom of your nose, and run them out to each ear. You'll see that you will feel the top and bottom of your ears and other areas of your ear, and you'll see where the lines came from! You can also look at a mirror of course!
I use the finger method because what if you have no mirror and you hadn't drawn a person for a while..?
Keep working at it!!!

I closed the mouth, tried to even it out a bit and make the ears a little more level. I still think they're a bit crooked, or they're just not the same shape. XD btw, i like your strategy, I'll use it in the future! ^^
Sorry lame signature....I'll edit it later. XD
