Legs CAN go that far back-- but not in the frame that Koi has expressed. She has the hind leg planted too far back for the front limb to be that far back as well.

--

Here's the redline--

Image

The main issue is that the wolf's center of gravity is off, Sherlock. To express more of a running movement, it helps to lean the subject forward. Especially with the front leg in this position, the body's going to be angling forward, preparing for the next burst of movement.
With the subject aimed more forward, next it helps to arch the back, also to show the movement that your subject is expressing.
Here's where it really gets into changes, and the arched back will certainly help--
With a wolf's front leg that far back, the hind legs will need to come forward. There will be one hind legs planted, but it should come much more forward, even ahead of the front leg. The subject needs to be completely bunched at this point, because there's no other way that the front leg would be able to be that far back otherwise. What's actually happening in this motion is that front leg is being picked up off of the ground, and the hind leg is stepping in to take the dog's weight. With so much motion propelling it forward, if the hind leg isn't forward, prepared to take the canine's weight, it will just tumble over forwards.

Here are some run cycles of dogs that I find very helpful--

http://www.go-fast.org/albums/dino/a060 ... unning.jpg
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y-Rr4pmf27c/S ... +cycle.jpg

Just keep in mind where your canines going, and what's required to get him there. It can be difficult sorting out legs when they're in such a tricky position, but if you just think of the step that will happen next, it's easier to imagine it. :3

I'd also suggest bulking up the head and neck, and raising the tail up to the backbone.

EDIT: Oops, forgot the redline. lD

@Zephayer: That's adorable, very good job. the only thing I see is you may have wanted to put whiskers, only for detail though, I don't currently have any critique for you.

Nex, you're characters are all so unique, I'm glad you find the time! I saw that his pectoral muscles are a bit too square, though, even if he isn't a gym buff there should still be some shape, here's a good example of abs and such:

I'll have some art up for you guys soon. ^^

Zephayer;
That is adorable. I can't get over your art style and the way you put things together so wonderfully <3
Medusa's Cascade;
It's really cute, I love the shading style, the only thing I would suggest would be to make the tail a little more rounded next time. Tails are supposed to be soft and fluffy, not pointy ^^

I've been gone forever guys but I decided to drop back in for a bit, I'd like some critique on this;

hello!
putting up this, i'd love some critique/redlines on this if anyone could!
Image

bk, that's really nice!
what seems wrong to me though is the far right (not the head sticking out, left to that) one's shoulders are way to low, thought it might just be me.

moony, tail seems placed wrong like it's to far right, but not sure. love your art <3

Zephayer- That's really cute ^^ I really love the paws and eyes c:

Medusa's Cascade- It seems really fat and short- was that on purpose? You always seem to draw short, chubby animals- maybe you could try making some kind of tall lean animal like a fox or maned wolf? I'd love to see you give it a go ^^

Bk13- That's awesome, I really love the concept ^^

Kuramon.- Her midsection is much too short, I also don't understand the red dots everywhere? I'm sure a human artist will come along and help you with a redline ^^;

I just acquired adobe illustrator CS6. Does anyone have any tutorials or guides or tips for it? I'm clueless, thanks x3

If you'd like you can critique this, although it was just a quick free sketch.

I really like it, however, the front legs seem off somehow. Maybe slightly to short? But definitely get a second opinion. =3
