I do have a cricket house but it's awkward to get in and out..
We're in the process of moving so I can't get anything really elaborate at the moment..I may look into it after we relocate. :)

On a side note..I was talking to this man at the petstore while buying crickets and mealworms..He bought his young son two leopard geckos at different times. He said they both died..and one, the son held it by the tail and it fell off..I felt bad for the geckos...I gave him a talk about proper care. XD

I understand. After you get settled into your new place though, I recommend at least getting a large critter keeper to house a weeks supply at a time. In those small numbers they should be fine in a critter keeper. Mango came with one of those cricket critter keepers that have the black tubes. Neat design, but It was a small one, so not really suitable for keeping crickets alive, but a larger one might work for a small amount of crickets. I'm sure you could even duplicate the design on a large bin with some piping if you had the time.

That's quite sad. I hate when parents give children animals, and then don't supervise them, or expect the children to do everything. More than half the ads(lol, the ones that aren't scams or against the ToS) on sites like craigslist tend to be "bought such-and-such pet for my child, but they lost interest in a week, and I don't want to take care of it." Hello?! Of course a little child isn't going to be able to take care of it. In my experience, forcing young children to look after animals actually makes them loose interest faster. Yes, they will eventually need to learn responsibility, but wait until they are older, and don't use an animal. This is all assuming the animal doesn't die like in the situation the man you talked to had. Thank you for saying something to him! Sometimes I''m not brave enough to confront a person like that, because people can get pretty darn defensive if you try to tell them it was their fault. I try my hardest to let them know they are doing something wrong without outright saying it, and I've had a lot of success that way. I hope the man didn't buy any more geckos, or if her did, then I hope he supervises his children and teaches them to have a little more respect for animals.

I sort of worded that wrong but, I just talked to him about proper care..I didn't tell him off or anything, but he wanted to learn and I was happy to tell him the right way to care for them..To be honest I wish I could've talked to him more. e_e

Oh, I didn't think you told him off at all. You sound very nice, and not the kind to do that. I've just had bad experiences where people have asked me about how they can get their lizards to look like mine, or what went wrong with theirs to cause them to die. Just sharing proper set up information, such as UVB requirements has set people off, because they think it's unnecessary mumbo-jumbo and I must be working for the store(lol, I'm normally asked questions in Petsmart), even if I tell them to order online from other vendors, because it's cheaper. I can't tell you how many times I've had a person get all nasty, because I told them it wasn't normal for a bearded dragon to die in a year. As a result, I tend to just zip my mouth entirely or be very careful with what I say when directly asked for advice or recommendations. In all honesty, the more you upset a person(such as making them feel guilty), the less likely they are going to take your advice seriously, even if it's the right advice. Obviously not all react this way, but I've come across a lot that do.

Hehe, thanks. :)
I understand..they were probably too touchy about the subject..some people aren't willing to accept their mistakes. And actually, I was in petsmart looking at the baby leopard geckos. I said, "Aww they're cute" and a little boy said "I had two and they died" And then his dad came and we started talking about it.

He said he thinks that they fought and the one got a cut and got infected or something..They said they bought the geckos at two separate times. I was like.."I have two that are doing fine, though I bought them at the same time..Or maybe they were just both males." The guy also said the kid played with the gecko all the time..so maybe that's how it got injured in the first place.

But I wouldn't think that they would fight to the death at such a young age..

Hi there, later on I might get some lizards/geckos. What kind would you recommend for me?

- I don't want them to have a 'fat tail'. So no leopard geckos, for example.
- I would prefer for them not to be really large. Up to 20/25 cm perhaps? I don't know, but not very large, I love iguanas for example, but they grow up to like 2 metres, that's way too large. You get me.
- I would prefer that it won't be necessary for them to eat maggots. They creep me out. xD

Well, if you're looking for an easy lizard to care for a Leopard Gecko is the way to go..plus they're good for beginners
And they don't eat maggots, they eat meal worms, which are beetle larvae. They don't resemble maggots, just millipedes a little.
The other worm you're thinking of, I would guess, are wax worms. They are moth larvae..they do resemble maggots. Though they aren't required for a lizard to eat..just a fatty treat once and a while.

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.. XD

It would be great if they're easy, though not necessary. :3 Yes moth larvae, I have a phobia for moths and so for their children. Mealworms are fine.
I don't really want a leopard gecko, you see, I mean they're awesome, but when they grow up they get this fat tail which bothers me.. I don't find it really pretty. :3 I find phelsuma geckos beautiful for example, but I heard they are really quick and will escape out of hands. I would like to hold them in every once in a while so that's not a great thing. So any other options? ^^

I'm not quite sure about other easy lizards..but if you got a fast lizard it would be hard to hold it..I had three anoles when I'd never had lizards before, and that was sort of a disaster. XD

Care for a Panther Gecko is very similar to that of a Leopard Gecko.

Haha yes I would like them to sit on my arm for example, a runner would not do any good. xD

Ah, a panther gecko, they seem cool! Don't they have fat tails? They look awesome in the pictures. ^^ So what do you guys feed them except for mealworms? And what size does their terra have to be?
