Rainpaw sprang instantly after the two toms, fizzing with withheld excitement and nervousness. She listened to their chatting, not joining in yet, until they broke off. Puzzled, Rainpaw pricked her ears and bounded to catch up to them. And then she noticed the spark. Fear prickled in her paws as she hoped desperately the rain would put it out. But the spark grew with another bolt of lightning, and true flames leapt hungrily at the tree. It grew quickly, despite the pouring, and started to spread. Rainpaw's eyes widened with horror, and her fur fluffed up, bristling so much even with a wet pelt. She stood rigid with shock before Sleetpaw and Steampaw turned and raced away to warn the Clan. She jolted back into movement and sprang after them, wailing with terror. She felt the adrenaline spurring her onward, until she reached camp after the two other apprentices. "FIRE!" She screeched, knowing she and the others must look terrified and wild-eyed.

Sprucepaw sunk her claws nervously into the den floor as Foxpaw slid into the nest. She stepped back as Shadepelt bolted in, panicking for her son. Sprucepaw felt fear and pity twist her heart as she gazed at the new apprentice's leg and tail, and knew she had to get to work. And wake Duckpond, most definitely. She watched as Duststorm left to inform the leader, and quickly got to work. She sniffed at Foxpaw's wound, thankful that his mother was busying herself with calming him. Then Sprucepaw darted over to her mentor. "Duckpond!" She hissed quietly, though urgently. "Duckpond, get up!" She stumbled away, hoping he would wake, began searching for moss to wash the apprentice's tail. And she then heard the cries from the clearing, the panicked sound of three young cats warning of a natural disaster. Fire.
