Caro nodded at her, "he was a very wise man, very well respected throughout the tribe, and I strive to be close to what he was."

"I'm sure you'll be just as good as your father was Caro." Layla said softly, listening to the words he spoke. His nae, Carodye, kept repeating in her head. She gently pushed a strand of hair back from her face and behind her ear. "Your people will respect and love you for who you are, a wise, funny young centaur."

"Send out a beautiuful centaur to distract the other tribes leader, I think it sounds like a perfect plan, and take it from me, it would have worked."

"Really now?" Layla asked. "Hmm, I don't think it would have." She laughed and acted on impulse. She reached out her hand, tracing a muscle on his chin but blushed and pulled back, realizing her action. "Am I... Distracting you?" She said, her voice full of humor as she chuckled and giggled. "Yes, a good plan it would be, if the one who was supposed to do the distracting didn't get distracted though."

"As will I young Layla, but I am sure your tribe will soon catch scent of our meeting and come with reinforcements." he said to lifting his hand a bit but then dropping it. What was he thinking, it wasn't like just because they had met she would all of a sudden be in love with him.

"Unfortunately so." She sighed. Watching his hand, Layla looked up into his eyes. She was dieing to know what he was thinking. She would do almost anything to find out... But why? Why was she feeling so... Different around him. "What are you thinking?"

Caro looked at her his gaze soft as he looked her over now from hoof to head his eyes now resting on hers, "I can only hope that they will, but your blessing is welcomed." he said to her nodding happily in her way. He looked over his shoulder now at Rowan and checkled softly wondering what he must be thinking about the whole siuatuion that was being played out.

"Really now? Hmm, I don't think it would have." She laughed and acted on impulse. She reached out her hand, tracing a muscle on his chin but blushed and pulled back, realizing her action. "Am I... Caro felt her warm hand trace one of the sharp muscles that made up his face. He follwed her hand all the way down to her hips where it was resting now brought his eyes back up to hers. "Yes, you are distracting me, so please, don't kill me now." he said with a chuckle. He then heard her comment on the fact she was becoming distracted also. "Well Layla," he said stepping close to her again looking down into her eyes whispering, "You better be the one to stop me, my being is becoming selfish." he said with a small laugh as he kissed her cheek politely before taking a few steps back again.

"What are you thinking?"

Carodye pndered how to answer the question. "I am thinking of, about, and utterly completely you." he said with a smile. "So much to learn about you, and the ways of your tribe." he said to her, "I hope one day we will be able to learn more about each other also." he said to her a small sad smile on his face. He knew she needed to get going.

"They will. And I will bless it every day." Layla chuckled. "I know you'll do good. You have good blood in your veins, from your father. My father may have been wise but..." She trailed and covered her mouth, giggling, "He's not exactly sane." She looked around, acting as if she were suspicious, "And I'm probably not either." She whispered, her voice spilling out with humor.

"Yes, you are distracting me, so please, don't kill me now." he said with a chuckle. He then heard her comment on the fact she was becoming distracted also. "Well Layla," he said stepping close to her again looking down into her eyes whispering, "You better be the one to stop me, my being is becoming selfish." he said with a small laugh as he kissed her cheek politely before taking a few steps back again.

"I won't kill you... Yet." Layla said, in her soft sarcasmn tone. "No, I'll kill you now." She bent down and grabbed a stick before gently poking him and dropping the stick. "Oh no! I killed you!" She laughed. "Why would I stop--" Her sentence was interrupted by his kissing her on the cheek. She blushed lightly, the blush growing darker by the second. "I don't believe your selfish." She said calmly, trying to hide her raspy breath. "I just believe that your unique." She said, saying the first thing that popped into her mind. She traced the outlines of the muscles on his chest. She zoned out, peacefully in a trance now.

Layla looked down. "No. This can't be..." She sighed, "We have to find a way to end this war." She said, partially coming back to her senses. "Maybe... If they got to know each other." She repeated what she heard a Shore tribe member say once. "I don't even get why we're fighting."

Caro said with another small laugh before sighing softly.

He laughed as she poked him in the chest, and the stick broke which only made him laugh harder. He looked at her his eyes glistening when he noticed her hand had taken the place of the stick and he closed his eyes to control his, well, male instincts shall we say. He was a boy after all, and she was a beautiful girl. He found her extremely intriguing and very attractive.

Caro sighed at the sincerity in her voice, "We are only two people, and we are young leaders, I need my tribes trust first. If they want to attack no matter how fond I am of you, I will fight." he said his eyes clouded with shame. "The tribe comes first, always, no matter what." he said reciting the words that were pumped into his head so many times. He set a hand on her shoulder. "I need to be going, this was a bad idea." he said to her his eyes clouded in confusion, not knowing if leaving was the right choice or not. His heart said noo, but his training, his brain, said yes.

Layla swallowed hard and nodded. "Yes, the tribe comes first." She agreed, something her mother always told her father. She smiled, batted her eyes twice and bowed. "Thank you for not killing me and for the lovely necklace. I suppose I will see you around." She said and turned, slowly trotting forwards in her own land. She stopped briefly, looking back at him and smiling before turning and galloping back through the forest.

The necklace bounced as she galloped along and her hair cascaded up and down in the air. She held on to the sweet smell of Caro, and the thin hope of bringing the tribes back to being friends. She galloped faster before slowing to a halt in the middle of the clearing at camp. She steadily walked over to a raspberry bush and plucked some of it's fine, red berries, gently chewing and swallowing them. She stood there, thinking of the tribe and looked at the brightening sun, reminding her that most of the tribe was still asleep.

She reared up and hit the ground with her hooves in a thump. "Wake up Wood Tribe!" She called out. Waiting for the others to awaken she watched the squirrels play and gather nuts. Their hyper behavior always made her laugh and giggle. They were such odd creatures, with huge, bushy tails that bounded behind their autumn leaf colored bodies as they ran.
