Scarlet

Design and lines by TheCalicoTabby(with a little of my input X3). Thanks so much for her, I love her!

Scarlet is one bad kitty. She's two-faced most of the time, and nothing fazes her. She tough, mentally, and has a dainty, high-class personality. She thinks she deserves the best and is the best, and can be often caught staring at herself in anything with a reflection. She's absolutely vain, and isn't afraid to show it.

Rufio

Colored on these lines by explisative.

I made Rufio a very, very long time ago, but I still love his design. I would especially love it if someone could revamp him for me, with a thicker, taller mane, shorter tail, and darker, matching colored body spots. I would do it myself but I can't download Java. <3 Send a PM, I'm willing to pay(if they're your own original lines, I'm willing to pay rares for quality).
He's a very playful, high-energy mixed-breed with a temper.

Amelie is a sturdy doe. She's steady as a rock and loves hanging around any baby, whether they be snakes, puppies or even lion cubs. A baby is a baby to her. She's all sugar and spice until you mess with her young ones, then she becomes a mamma bear. Amelie is skittish with adults, tending to stick to the baser younglings.

Oseum: Navy

Postby Northstar. » Tue May 15, 2012 10:08 am

Image
Navy is an Oseum, adopt your own here!
When you're afraid and all alone
Look to me; I'll be there.
When you're lost and scared to death
Look to me; I'll be there.
When your tired and need friend
Look to me; I'll be there.
I am not so strong as my name suggests
I am not fearless, I am not the best
But love me more and never less
Look to me; I'll be there.

Navy
Originally I was going to name him something like Trooper or Army, but those didn't seem to fit with the personality I had in mind. Then, I thought of the US Navy, and seemingly matching splotches of color on him and voila: Navy.
"Non sibi sed patriae." Not self, but country is the motto for the Navy or "Honor, courage, commitment" as there is no offcial motto. Navy isn't particularly courageous, he'll cower from dominant animals and hold his tongue when he should speak, but when it matters most he can muster just enough to help.

Gender:
Male

Personality:
Sweet.
Navy is a lover not a fighter. He'll bring you flowers when you're down, make a fool of himself to try and cheer you up, or make silly expressions to catch your attention.
Awkward.
Navy is no Casanova. He stutters over his words, trips over his paws and runs into glass doors. But that's all part of his silly charm.
Goofy.
Navy likes to goof off, whether is be to roll around in the dirt or frolick through the snow. He won't try to impress you; he'll just be himself.
Listener.
Navy isn't very chatty; he'd rather much hear a good story than tell his own. Sometimes he knows just what to say, regardless if he doesn't say it right the first time.
Rambler.
Navy is a rambler. If you get him started on a subject he's particularly interested in he could talk your ear off.
Bashful.
If Navy could blush through his fur when pretty oseum faes flirt with him, he would. As it is, he instead tends to stutter ridiculously and comment about the weather. He thinks this tactic seems to work, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him.
Honest.
Navy isn't a liar. If a pretty oseum were to ask him if her fur looked frizzy he wouldn't be completely blunt. He'll sweeten the truth, enough to give you a cavity or two. "No, it is a little fluffy though. But that looks beautiful on you"- would be something he would say.Despite his flaws, he can be quite smooth on occasion.

Navy's Heartwood
Time was endless, Navy noticed. Wave upon wave crashed around him, salty sea water soaking his coat through and through. His paws clung to his only lifeline, a lone chunk of driftwood. The sky was steel and slate, heavy with raincoouds and thick with darkness. He couldn't remember how this came to be, how he was lost at sea; he could barely remember his own name. Ice coated his veins, the frigid waters like the sharp grasp of a clawed hand. The wind howled and screeched, like wolves on the coattails of a banshee siren. He couldn't hold on much longer. He had nothing left, no strength. No hope.

He didn't know how much time had passed, only that it was dark, so dark he couldn't see. Fear had no hold on him, just a desolate hopelessness that made his insides turn grey. He was so, so cold. Cold and numb. The rough waters pushed his makeshift raft to and fro, making the poor pup nearly lose his grip several times. A rough bump startled him, and his rear legs kicked at the water. Except his paws hit something solid. The brawny sea air filled his nostrils, but there was a hint of ... green and life in the scent? His eyes shot open- he didn't know they were closed. Endless green, rolling grassy hills, stone outcroppings.

Navy's eyes widened and he looked carefully around; somehow he had come to be on a sandy beach, gritty as it was. A beam of light was passing across the ocean, circling along the beach and hills before repeating it's circuit. It passed over the pitiful looking canine before continuing it's sweep. Navy lifted himself onto weak, weary paws and stood carefully on the soft sand. He took a few shaky steps, enough to where the waves barely brushes against the tip of his tail and collapsed onto solid, dry ground.

The sound of crunching sand alerted him to footsteps and Navy couldn't muster much more than a few happy tail thumps in greeting. A pair of bare, human feet entered his line of vision as a blonde haired man crouched before him. "Hey bud, whatcha doin' way over here?" he asked quietly, petting the canine's ear gently. "There's a boy.". He touched the collar at the canine's neck and read the inscription. "Navy, eh?" he murmured, passing the hands over the weak creature to check for injuries. "Some food and water will do ya good, yeah Navy?" he asked and the oseum wagged his tail. An orange tom cat touched his nose to Navy's and purred.

"Welcome to Heartwood," the bob-tailed tom told Navy as the human picked the canine up easily. As he was carried off to the lighthouse, the cat following behind, Navy thought that he might have found what he was looking for all along: a home..

The Pride

Postby Northstar. » Wed Jul 18, 2012 12:44 am

The pride of Heartwood stay far from all others, alone near the dry, deserted desert. They were there long before Heartwood came to be, and so they shall stay.

Image
Kon and his daughter, Surya.

Image
Badru and Rakesh, the young lion warriors. They are Kon's shadows, and Surya's unblooded uncles.

Badru; is the younger of the brother warriors; his build is slimmer, sleeker, and built for speed rather than brute strength. He is often given the job of hunting for their unconventional pride, though sometimes he and his brother hunt as a pair. It is often difficult for Badru to provide for the pride. Being a male lion, he is unused to hunting and though he is more graceful than Rakesh or Kon, he is a clumsy hunter. Badru can be easily mislead and is quite gullible. He is friendlier than his brother, though perhaps not as kind as one would think.

Rakesh; is the older of the brother warriors. He's somewhat bulkier than his brother, made for strength and force rather than stamina. Oftentimes he's left on baby-sitting duty, watching over the young Surya while Kon checks the borders. Before he and Badru met Kon they had been cast from their previous pride due to the untrusting nature of their father. Rakesh got into a dangerous scuffle with an older rogue and ended up with a painful limp in his rear right leg. With those he trusts, he doesn't mind showing this particular weakness. With strangers he hides it, not wanting them to use it against him.

History;Badru and Rakesh were born to a merciless pride in the desolate plains of Africa. Drought was common, water was scarce, and prey was nearly nonexistent. When they were half a year old a strange lion overcame their father and attempted to kill all cubs in the pride. Rakesh barely escaped with his life, but was injured in the process. Not a week after they were captured by poachers and bought on the black market. They lived in the basement of a rundown house of the man who bought them. He ran illegal imports of narcotics and often was the host of parties. The cubs suffered in squalor in the dark. They roared and raged. Eventually the man was busted, and the cubs were taken by animal control. When it was determined that they carried no diseases and were healthy, they were sold to an organization that released them into the wild.
Young and stupid, they hadn't the slightest idea how to survive.

Thanks so much Chessur!
Original design by me.
Zahir is a young lion.
Cunning, deceitful and as dark as his mane; heart black with hate, greed and thick jealousy. His love is lost, buried beneath soul-deep scars and anger. His eyes are cold, calculating. Unfriendly. He craves affection, yet pushes everyone away.
He loves the dark, cool enclosed space of the jungle, the comforting shade of the trees. He loves to swim in the cool waters nestled in the jungles mysteries, the way the earth darkens with health during the rainy season. He hates the bright, open savanna, the heat of the sun, the wide space with nothing to guard his back. He hates the way hot sand feels beneath his paws, the crackled feeling during drought, and the loneliness of the life he chose.

Goliath

Postby Northstar. » Wed Jul 25, 2012 1:19 pm

Image
From Silver Lining Adoption Place by .: T O K I :.

Name: Goliath

Gender: Male

Species: American Pit Bull Terrier

Personality: When you first meet Goliath, he isn't very outgoing. He'll shy away from loud noise a stranger makes, bolt if they make a quick movement and overall have a low output of confidence in himself and others. His trust must be earned and that isn't an easy task. He is very standoffish with other unknown canines, though he doesn't run from them as he would a human or larger mammal. He will stand his ground, calm and proud, with little to no aggressiveness in his unyielding stance. After a day or two of seldom interaction with a stranger he may be inclined to linger around more often, and -if he finds them worthy- extend his friendship.

Goliath is a generally friendly dog once his trust is gained. He dislikes children and young animals, but isn't malicious if they annoy him. If one happens to pull an ear accidentally the very least he will do is get up and walk far away from the baby creature. He has a soft spot for kittens, for their independent nature and mischievous persona, and he likes to keep a nice distance from rowdy, romping puppies.

Goliath is very different from the impression one would get from his name. He's quite sweet, definitely not a giant. His heart is walled off from the world to protect himself from future pain, but sometimes... Sometimes someone will slip through the cracks and warm his weary soul. Few have made it so far, so close to his heart. Those that have will find endless loyalty in a faithful friend.

History:
Do not judge me for the failures of many, or for the accomplishments of one. Judge me alone, for I am like no other.

The earth was cruel, a place only for the strong where the weak were cast aside and forgotten. Rain came down in sheets; thick, fat drops stinging the hide of any unlucky creature stuck out in the weather. The ground was slick and wet, mud churning up brown puddles on the old, dirt road. The trees were heavy with rain, the branches bowing and swaying harshly with the sharp, cutting wind. Lightning flashed in vicious streaks across the dark clouds; even in the middle of the day the sky was dull and slate.

On the far side of the road, nestled in the short brush beneath the hanging branches of an oak, was the faint shape of an animal. Soaked to the bone and shivering, it was a pitiful sight. The regal, white colored face was a sad offset against its chocolate, guarded eyes. Mottled red and white marked the canine’s body in a splashed pattern, the faint scars on his back barely visible through the thick rain. They were small, thin slivers of hairless, raised flesh, not particularly gruesome but altogether thought-inspiring none the less.

Any normal person would automatically think that the poor beast had been through the heartless trials of dog fights. Upon a single glance at his face, the shape and distinctiveness of a much hated breed, they would assume he was a danger to their children, friends, and family. Without so much as a chance, they would turn their face away with a hardened heart a bone deep fear of the unknown. Some may have given him a pitying look; others, the grimace of unjustified hate.

He would be judged by a single glance, without a second to listen to his story. What looked to be long-healed injuries from the dog fighting ring was indeed a wrong assumption. And that would be the first thing many would assume. Instead, it was the love shown from his owners, a love that he craved and pined after. A love that was thrown in his face. His love for them, his humans, had been unending. And instead of returning that sweet, gracious love, they gave him hate and hurt. It was what fate had doled him, before they had dumped him on the one way to nowhere road. And still, despite their hate, he missed them. He missed the warmth and the dry and the feeling of a full stomach.

An old car clunked its way down the slick, muddied road, bumping along with the uneven path. The brake lights lit up as the car stopped not five feet from the dog, and a window slowly rolled down. The dog’s tail thumped, unheard in the pouring rain, as he saw the face of man. The car horn beeped loudly, frightening the timid canine into flinching, before an object was thrown from the window. It hit the dog’s paw cruelly and he yelped, backing away from the object that brought him hurt. The small, empty bottle wasn’t all that frightening up close. The car sped off after that, leaving the dog soaked to the bone and shivering in the elements.

It wasn’t long after when the sky ceased her tears; thunder rolled and rumbled across the earth as the water soaked into the ground. The canine huddled under the shelter of his tree as water drops trickled from the branches above him. The roar of an engine frightened him into shivers as a large truck traversed down the mud-churned road. A branch cracked and fell behind Goliath, spooking the dog into running into the middle of the road. He froze, staring down the beast that smelled of oil and metal. Breaks squealed as the truck came to a sliding stop, mud splashing everywhere. The horn blared as the driver leaned on the steering wheel, urging the stock-still dog to move it. He didn't.

The truck door opened and out popped a two-legged, walking through the mud with under-their-breath mumbles and groans. Goliath stared at the man, and the man stared at him. Long seconds went by, covered by quiet patience as the earth breathed.

"Well, now. What are you doing all the way out here?" the man asked, as if the dog would answer him. Goliath cocked his head to the side, tail thumping waywardly in the mud at the human's gentle tone. "Well, come on then, let's go," the man said softly, crouching and stretching out a hand. The pit bull was hesitant as first, watery eyes darting towards the forest, safety, and towards the human, danger. With faith, Goliath extended his nose and gingerly sniffed at the human's hand. His ears twitched when the man slowly reached to pet his head, expecting a harsh smack and cruel words. He didn't get them.

The earth was kind, a place where the weak received mercy and the strong thrived.

Don't judge me. You only know my face, not my story.

A mystery, even among his own kind, this great beast dwells near the craggy cliffs along the coast of Heartwood. The very sound of his breath can set a tremble upon the vast land, and it is said that a single gaze of his eyes can bring a wave of darkness....
