[Veins Of Opal]

Vicente flicked his crimson eyes to the sunset, watching the dying strips of sunlight slip over the horizon. It was beautiful to him as well, though he knew too well of it's danger. When it seemed it had dropped enough to not be dangerous for him, Vicente stepped out from the shadow, looking behind him to make sure Sigma was following as he took his favored path in the forest, the chirping of crickets soft as fireflies began to awake and flutter into the darkened sky. He took a deep breath of the cool air, letting his mind settle.

It was beautiful.

[Falls]

Sigma followed Vicente, walking a little behind him as he made his way through the forest. She didn't dare speak, for fear of disturbing the obvious peace that had stolen over Vicente out in the night air. She watched as birds quietly flew about, returning to their nests while their predators were no doubt leaving their own homes to silently hunt. The balance of life seemed to be prominent here.

Vicente slowed to a leisurely pace, holding out his hand as a firefly flicked about, landing on the tip of his finger. He gave a soft smile, stopping and turning to Sigma. The yellow glow of the insect softly illuminated their faces as he held the glowing little insect towards her, remaining silent, not wishing to disturb the peace.

((Just curious, what time is it where you are? )

[10:30ish, you?]
Sigma's eyes widened slightly in awe and she slowly reached forward. Rather than trying to hold the firefly and risking scaring it off, she slid her hand under Vicente's. she touched her palm to the back of his hand and slightly lifted it so that she could look closer at the firefly. With a soft smile she flicked her grey-blue eyes up to Vicente's, calm delight evident in her expression.

Vicente's heard jumped slightly as she lifted his hand to look closer at the little firefly. He flicked his crimson eyes to her, giving a soft, small smile. The firefly flicked it's wings, before flying off to join the others that flashed within the trees. He was unused to such interaction and kindness. He and Lucien were rather acquaintances, partners. They weren't necessarily "friends". For the majority of his life, Vicente had been treated like a monster. It was odd to be treated with kindness.

Sigma watched the firefly leave, her smile fading as her gaze reached the large sparse mass of fireflies floating about among the trees. Memories of the forest near her childhood home struck her with deja vu and she stepped forward, entranced by the sight. Without quite meaning to, she walked off the path, her hand gently clasped over Vicente's fingers to bring him with her. If she could find what she could find back at home all those years ago, she wouldn't want him to miss it.

Vicente felt another leap in his chest as she took his hand in hers, leading them off the path. The vampire flicked his crimson eyes to their intertwined fingers, and he shook his head, looking forward. He had no clue where she was leading them, though he knew the surrounding area well.

Sigma's bare feet treaded quietly. She followed paths of moisture in the ground to keep from making too much noise and disturbing the calm serenity of the forest. After a bit of walking she suddenly stopped and stared. Well, that patch of flora certainly wasn't the alfalfa she was looking for, but it was obviously good enough for the the fireflies that had all congregated there to mate. [*knows way too much about fireflies for my own good*] It was beautiful and Sigma couldn't help but gape at the glob of light the swarm formed. Never gets old... she thought to herself.

((I was thinking the exact same thing! *hugs Vicente* ))

A small gasp escaped the vampire's mouth as he saw the swarm of fireflies hovering above and around the patch of flora. The bright glow from the hundreds of fireflies illuminated the two who observed the beautiful sight. The chirping of crickets and the soft breeze that rustled leaves (hey, a rhyme! XD ) created a beautiful melody within the night. Vicente couldn't help but smile, not minding the fact that their hands were still clasped together.

The assassin actually believed it was pleasant.

Sigma wasn't sure how long she stood there watching the fireflies. A few minutes? An hour? She had no idea. But after a long while she dropped Vicente's hand and took a step back, looking up at Vicente's brightly illuminated face and hoping he'd do the same.
