In a futuristic Chicago, the city is divided up into five factions, each embodying a human characteristic that is desirable. The goal was to eradicate the bad human qualities to create a new and perfect world. When you are sixteen, you get to choose whether you stay in your faction or you can decide to move to a different faction, leaving your family forever.

After you choose your new faction, you must go through an initiation process where you are ranked based on your skills. Your rank determines what kind of job you will be able to get when you finish initiation. If you get an extremely low rank, you might get kicked out and have to become factionless, living on the streets and doing all of the worst jobs of the city.

So, what will you choose?

Abnegation's embodied personality trait is selflessness. Their main goal is to put everyone before themselves. For training, each initiate is required to do thirty days community service. They wear grey clothes, and are not permitted to ask questions out of turn, look into mirrors, and public displays of affection are frowned upon. Their main job is in the government.

Candor's embodied personality trait is honesty. Most Candors say whatever comes to mind, never hiding anything. For training, each initiate is put under lie detector tests 24/7 and then put under a truth serum to reveal their deepest and darkest secrets. If everything is out in the open, there would be no need to lie. Family isn't very important in Candor, and they wear black and white clothes. Their main job is in Law.

Amity's embodied personality trait is peacefulness. They emphasize joy, beauty and celebration.Not much is known about their training, but nature is a vital part in the Amity life. Their normal colors are red and yellow, and their jobs are in agriculture. No violence is permitted, and they do not hesitate to use peace serum to calm their residents.

Dauntless' embodied quality is Bravery. They are the most outgoing people out of the city.Their training involves physical fighting, weapon training, mental and emotional bravery and being able to face fears. They use simulations to try and face their own fears. The pimary color is black, but any dark colors work. Their main jobs are in security.

Erudite's embodied trait is knowledge. They want to know as much as they possibly can, and they usually spend their days in the library. For initiation, they spend time in the library, and they learn how to use computer programs and research new technologies. Their main color is blue, and normal jobs are in science, math and technology.

Holland is a very fun girl to be around. She may never be the life of the party, but she loves to have fun and crack jokes. She is usually the one that is in the background, not may people get to experience the full personality of Holland. She has a few sides of which she chooses to show, and her relationship with you determines what side she will show.
When she expresses her shy side, Holland is usually very quiet. She doesn’t talk and she acts like she is being judge all of the time. She carefully analyzes every move she makes, to ensure that she is making a good impression on the person. She usually is shy when meeting new people.
Once she gets to know you, Holland can be very fun and boisterous. She will crack jokes and be crazy around you. Only a few people get to see this side, her closest friends and those who are around her when she is under the influence of alcohol.
There is one last side to the girl, and it is a very violent side. The anger she experiences gets built up inside her and she tends to lash out when she is put over the edge. Don’t worry though, she has never seriously hurt someone and the violent outbreaks are brief. She also has a phobia of blood and dislikes violence unless necessary.
All in all, Holland is a very fun girl once you get to know her.

Balto could be described as a boy who just wants to fit in and make friends. He will butt into any conversation and put his two sense in, even if it isn’t wanted. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind and he comes off as very opinionated. When faced with a new crowd of people, Balto always is one of the first to go up and speak to them, especially if the seem fun-loving like him. He tends to stray away from the shy people in the group, simply because he thinks they won’t like his company.

When he gets angry, however, Balto isn’t one to know how to control his feelings. He tends to lash out, breaking things or perhaps throwing a fist or two at whoever made him mad. He tends to have his moments where he just wants to be alone, and he’ll usually draw or play his guitar. He’s actually quite good at playing the guitar, and he loves to show others his ability. He also loves listening to music, and he likes bands such as A Day To Remember and Mayday Parade.

Balto is a nerd at heart. He will spend hours reading and doing homework just to be the best in his class. He loves showing off his knowledge to people and teaching others. His cocky attitude about how much he knows might come off as arrogant and condescending, but he just wants people to be as smart as him. This young man knows a lot of bizarre facts, so he might annoy some people with random trivia occasionally.

Balto is a natural born leader, always wanting to step up and take charge. He is also quite a large flirt, becoming discouraged when a girl he wanted to pursue rejects him. He is strong because of his hours he spends at the gym a week and will help a damsel in distress at any time. Men though, he's more weary of helping. Balto is a trustworthy man despite his tough outer shell.

Alaska was born to a microbiologist and a computer engineer in February of 1996. She was forced to enroll in a prestigious academy in Erudite, and she did okay but she wasn't born with her parents intelligence. She was given the clean-up jobs in the lab and all she wanted was to be free and able to do what she wanted. The switch to Dauntless was an easy decision.

Alex is honest. Bluntly so. She'll say what comes to her mind, and she'll say it the way she wants to say it. She won't gentle the words so as not to harm any feelings, and she won't choose any particular words that give the verbal blows padding. She's as candid as they come. Alex is easily described as temperamental, with a hothead provided by her mother who died young. But she knows when to keep her tongue in check. Alex has both a sentimental and whimsical streak. She enjoys having fun, and shunning the more serious part of life. She's not one for pranks, but more for rude, crude humor. Alex is easily embarrassed, and all though she pretends indifference about her clothes - her looks in general - she cares very much. Not enough to actually try hard to look nice, but enough that she preens a little each morning.
This girl falls rather easily into depression. She obsesses over little things, like how she didn't look as nice as she could have in front of her crush, how the only words he bothered to honor her with was a simple hello and a warm, but not particularly warm, glance. Those days, she speaks with the inevitable sullenness, unenthusiastic about every thing - even those that usually tempt her into some sunny emotion. When she's under depression, too often she's on the verge of tears. She acts tough, but she's the exact opposite.
History:
Alex has had the regular short, boring - also known as the usual - history of a teenage girl. She was born in the month of January, in the year 1996, making her sixteen as of this day. She's had the usual romantic problems of every girl to live, and nothing exceptional has happened except for her mother dying when she was three. But they weren't close, so she's okay.
