She shook away her dwellings. It didn't bode well to dwell on the past, not when she had her duties. It wasn't her fault that her kits looked like their father, and it wasn't their fault either. It was fate....
"Have you named them?" She didn't want to stay on the subject of her kit's father.

Applesong shook her head. "No, not yet." The queen replied. "But I do have an idea for one." She pointed her tail tip the only she-kit. "I was thinking that this little one could be called Lightkit. In honor of the stillborn kit in my first little. They look exactly the same, I can not see one difference." Applesong told Duststorm, trying to hide the grief in her voice. She felt like she could never get over the first Lightkit's death.

The deputy dipped her head. Loosing a kit was always hard, but to loose one before it was born and then have a kit that looked exactly like it had to be even harder. "That is a wonderful idea." She glanced at Spiderstar. "I'm sure Spiderstar will agree."
Duststorm had had to name her kits without their father. "Flame" had been the rogue's name. "Breeze" for the she-kit because he had gone like a breeze of wind, gentle but sudden.

Wiseheart's olive green eyes softened when Tigerstripe looked into them. Something about his eyes made her heart melt. Her ears grew hot and she looked down at her paws, still grinning a little bit. All of a sudden a yawn parted her jaws and she shook herself. She looked at Tigerstripe and mewed, "Um, are you tired? I could help make you a nest or you could share my nest with me until we can make you one. It's up to you really.." Wiseheart didn't mind sharing a nest with the tom, but if he didn't want to it was fine with her. There's something about him that just..... I don't know.... she thought to herself, flicking her ear randomly. She wondered where things would go with them, if anything at all. But she wondering never hurt anyone, did it?

Tigerstripe yawned right after Wiseheart did and he smiled. He flicked one ear and blinked. "Well, I don't want you to go through the trouble. Really," he said softly. "You've done so much. Just let me know where I can get moss and I'll make one myself."

The she-cat loved how every cat that came up was dismissed by her mate. It was odd how the two of them had both sworn to shun love and others cats as much as possible, yet at eachother's paws had become such a family. Many would say it was wrong, and others would point out how well they worked with eachother. Mates knew everything about the other, give or take a few little facts. For instance, Claw didn't know everything about his mate's past, like names and looks. She joined him in caressing the kits, figuring he had just picked Dusk for the next leader. Even though the kits were sightless, they opened their eyes at times. Each had different eyes, and some were shockingly gorgeous.

Applesong nodded, turning her gaze to the kits. "Yes, I'm sure he will" She mewed, moving the kits so they each had a place to suckle. "I wonder when Flickerkit will come and see her younger kin. I'm curious to how she will react. Growing up as an only kit." Applesong had thought this many times since she found out she was expecting.

"I expect she'll be along soon." Duststorm assured the new mother before getting to her paws. Thoughts of Flame were overwhelming her. "But, for now, I'll leave you to name your kits." Dipping her head, the calico backed out of the den.
Once out into the camp she let out a breath and shakily padded away.

The she-cat looked over to her mate. Her tail drifted lightly up his back. "So, how did the plan work out?" She asked. Hollowstar noticed that while he was glad to see the kits, something inside of him was agitated. Her right ear flicked slightly, listening to everything around them.

Wiseheart shook her head. "Oh, no. It's no trouble at all! I could make you one. After all, you need your rest!" she meowed kindly and stood up slowly so Tigerstripe wouldn't fall from leaning on her. "I could fetch you some moss and we could make it." Wiseheart didn't mind making him a nest. She didn't want to make him use up his engery while he could be resting. He should be resting. He's hurt after all! I won't let him make a nest all by himself!
