(We laid the smack-down on a bear. >=D It's on the dinner table now, but Kalia is severely injured.)

He had been sitting, watching Kalia carefully as she ate and only half listening to Nakalla but nodding at what he caught. It was the bear's fault. The bear's. He tried to repeat that in his head, over and over, but it still didn't feel quite right. Suddenly there was a tail under his nose and he jumped a little, blinking and turning to look at it's owner. "W-what?" A walk? "Um, sure, I guess." Sam's big ol' ears went back, blue eyes darting around the surrounding snow. He had never been much of a flirt. The occasional crush of his was usually turned off by his clumsy attempts at courting. He was more likely to fall flat on his face than impress a female. And being himself rarely won him any points with anyone, let alone potential mates. Now Nakalla was putting him in a very uncomfortable situation, but something told him she might be doing so on purpose. "But we shouldn't leave Kalia alone, should we? And we should eat, before the thing freezes?" He nodded to the bear. "Or...gets stolen, or-" Instantly the brute was on his feet. His posture wasn't aggressive, but guarded, his tail raised midway and ears pressed forward. The dark wolf's eyes were locked on the form of another black wolf, a stranger, approaching them from uphill. He shifted a little, feeling the clumps of fur that were covered in dried or frozen blood pull away from each other at his side. He didn't want to seem vulnerable in any way, and subconsciously he put himself between the newcomer and Kalia. But like his meeting with her and Nakalla, he was silent, calculating, waiting for the other to make the first move.

Nakalla smiled and looked over to where Sam's gaze went. She growled slightly. "With Kalia... the others will keep her warm. And maybe this one, too." She craned her neck to look at the wolf.

Eclipse noticed the brute's posture was guarded but not hostile. She was hungry and alone and needed a trustworthy pack even though trusting other wolves wasn't her strong point. Eclipse's ears folded back and she lowered her head into more of a submissive form. She disliked being submissive but wanted to show the other wolves that she wasn't an enemy.
After a few moments of silence, Eclipse raised her head slowly and cautiously spoke, "I'm not an enemy....I just wish to join your pack..."

Sam snorted. What was it about this place that drew wolves to it like flies to- He glanced at the bear. Hum, maybe that was it. Nakalla might be quick to trust, but his still didn't much like leaving injured wolves in the care of strangers. The brute sighed. Join their pack? Was that what they were? Well, Sam supposed he wouldn't have attacked a bear that size to protect random wolves. So he put on his best behavior face. "I am Sammael." He paused a moment, then dipped his muzzle slightly. Might as well play it up. "You are?"

Kalia's dreams had been filled with death, blood, pain, her and Nakalla fighting, Sammael, and wolves sneaking up on her and killing her while she was down. She woke with a start at the last one, looking around and freezing when she saw another wolf stare at her. Yet another newcomer. She had stopped bleeding, but her wounds felt fragile and she felt like she would faint from loss of blood. Hunger filled her mind, and instinctively she sniffed for prey, before stopping herself. You can't even get up yet, idiot! She told herself. Yet she hoped there would be another male wolf to join their "pack", as she noticed that Nakalla liked Sammael.

Fae I Coal Black I Approaching the wolves

Eclipse dipped her head in return to the large brute called Sammael. The wind whipped her smoky black fur as she replied with a small smile, "I'm Eclipse.." She glanced at the rotting bear and asked, "How long ago was the bear attack? Is any of your wolves badly injured?" She gave her head a quick tilt.

(Eh, we can time warp, keeps things less confusing. I think. Lol. And GeneClair, we killed a bear, Kalia is injured and we have a couple newcomers. That's about it. ^^)

"A couple hours." Sam regarded the carcass a moment. "Only one of us was badly injured." He realized he was still standing in front of Kalia and stepped aside to look down at her. He was startled to find her awake. "Mornin'." Even though it was getting dark. "How're you feeling?" His voice was gravelly, ears back and eyes intense. He couldn't help wondering if he'd always feel guilty when he looked at her now. But his stomach clenched and he reminded himself it was the bear. The bear. So he sauntered up to it and took a big bite. It was still mostly untouched, he certainly hadn't had any yet. He managed to get a good hunk of it, mostly hairless, and returned, dropping it by Kalia's muzzle.

Eclipse gazed at Sammael and the injured fae who was given a hunk of bear meat. Eclipse wasn't fully sure of her position in this newly found pack so she crept over to a soft patch of snow and laid down. She was starving from her long journey and hadn't eaten in days. Licking her muzzle, She stared at the bear carcass as her stomach growled. She wasn't sure if their pack would allow her to eat so soon as she was a newcomer.

Kalia ate the meal before her and smiled gratefully at him, but in her mind she wondered what he was thinking. With two females seemingly flirting with him, what would he do? She had the feeling that Nakalla didn't like how she had gotten most of Sammael's attention, and did not want to see the female angry. She looked up at the stranger as they passed by. "What's your name?" She said in a groggy, dry voice.
