It always seemed so simple. Trust. Just something small, that meant alot. That was before the accident. When it happened. That little thing that changed your life forever. Whatever happened, whatever they did, whatever you did... It's all different now.

You trusted something, something big. Whether it was a dream, a nightmare. A criminal act, or an act of good that went terribly wrong. An injury or an injury that healed too soon. Maybe even a friend. Or more then a friend. Or an enemy.

So now, your parents have sent you off to Oak River Stables. It's an equestrian center that specializes in kids with 'problems'. The owners and trainers are great with horses, but they also believe that as well as you teaching a horse, a horse can teach you. No, not just how to ride, but how to be responsible, how to have compassion, how to be brave, how to survive. You will be paired with a horse that will become your partner and your responsibility over your time here at Oak River Stables, but the trainers will be there to help if things get messy.

Have the ride of your life, and remember:

The North Stables
Right next to the North Cabin.

Contains 6 cabins, two bathrooms and a chill area.

The House
Where the owners of the center live.

South cabin 1
On the left of the South Stables. Contains 4 cabins, a two bathrooms and a smaller hangout room.

South Cabins 2
On the right of the South Stables. Contains 8 cabins, two bathrooms and a hangout room. There are three cabins in each building. Not many people know, but the roof is accessible from a window in the attic.

South Stables
The stables for horses ridden by the inhabitants of the South Cabins. Centered between South Cabin 1 and South Cabin 2.

The Hall
A great meeting place where people hang out when there not riding sometimes. It's a good place to play Basketball or throw a ball around, and when a meeting is called chairs are arranged in the same way they might be arranged in a school hall.

The Jumping Arena.
Used for Jumping. ^^

The Dressage arena.
Used for beginners learning to ride, Dressage training, and just general riding.

Trail 1
A riding trail that runs through most of the forest.

Trail 2
The trails that run through the edges of the pastures.

The Creek
The creek. This particular part runs through the forest.

The lake
Just on the edge of the property. You have to ride for a while to get there.

Bridge 1
Leads across the creek and towards South Cabin 1.

Bridge 2
You can usually ride a horse over this bridge. Also, some brave people jump off to the side and into the river when it floods.

; general description
The whole farm is centered around the main house. The house is where the owners of the farm live. Not too far away from that, there is an old Basket Ball gym. That is the main socializing place when you're not riding. When meetings are called for certain reasons, the boarders sit in chairs to watch the meeting; There is one meeting every fortnight.

Most of the property is made up of pastures, hills and forests. The central area is mostly covered with pastures, the southern area is thickly blanketed with a lush deciduous forest, containing mostly oaks and pines spread throughout it with little undergrowth. A stream winds through the forest and forms a deep waterhole, not too far from the house, that has a small waterfall that pours a steady stream of water into the natural pool. The South Cabins are on the very edge of the forest, as well as the South stables, where their horses reside.

The North cabins are well... North. The area is mostly pastures, and the boarders in the north cabins are lucky enough to live next to some of the deeper and wider areas of the stream, allowing them to swim freely in their spare time during the summer. Most of the wide parts you can take horses in to swim them, which is a great trust activity that the owners use alot during the warmer weather. There is one large cabin that is almost directly beside the stables, so horses are very easily accessible, as with the South Cabins.

ℓ Follow the Chicken Smoothie rules.
If your not familiar with them, read them. This includes, but is not limited to, fading to black/taking it to PM when you get to birthing/mating/'other' scenes.
ℓ Semi Literature.
This is pretty important. I expect about 5-10 lines per post, (more is fine) plus good grammar and spelling. Though I will excuse the odd mistake, especially with large or complicated words. Oh, and don't use chat speak. Some people don't have a problem with it but most people do.
ℓ When role playing horses, be realistic.
Okay, this is possibly the most important rule. It really bugs me when people role play horses unrealistically. First of all, this is an equestrian center, not a stud farm. All of the male horses cannot be stallions. Sure, maybe one or two, but otherwise I would like for most of the males to be geldings. That also goes for actual role play, since you are role playing horses, role play them like horses. Which means they can't hug each other, hold hands, etc.
ℓ Keep the genders even.
This is all common sense really. There can't be 12 girls and 3 boys, nor can there be 4 stallions, 2 geldings and 10 mares, etc. I will post the characters here on the main page, so you can easily see what spaces are avalible.
ℓ Recaps.
If someone asks for a recap, give them a recap. Also, be nice when asking for one.
ℓ No romance between your own characters.
It gets boring. Really, really boring, for everyone; Not just you.
ℓ Give notice when your leaving for a while.
If you leave for more then 5 days without notice, I will PM you asking if your coming back.
ℓ OOC
When speaking in OOC, make it clear to people. Use {} [] () or whatever takes your fancy. Also, don't start arguments in OOC. Just be nice people. ^^
ℓ Swearing
If you swear, at least star out the vowls.
ℓ Only make as many characters as you can handle.
It's a waste of time for you to make a whole lot of characters you will never play. Also, you would be holding alot of spaces that other people could take.
ℓ It's your choice whether you want to play your own horse/rider or whether someone else plays them.
Although unless this proves to be a bad idea, I would prefer you to mix it up a bit. If you specified that you want someone else to play the horse OR rider, please arrange it via PM.
ℓ I would like you to keep a one horse-one rider ratio.
Or in other words, please make a horse for every rider or a rider for every horse. This comes under keeping the numbers even.
ℓ Please make your posts and forms pretty.
I'm not asking you to paint a masterpiece with every post, just keep it neat. Even if you just put it in small print and center it, it's just nicer that way and much more structured to read.
ℓ Form lengths
In terms of forms, I won't expect you to do much more then the minimum if you are making more then one character. But, if you only make one, please put some effort into it. Also, I would like people to make a horse and a rider/boarder.
ℓ And finally...
Just have fun. That's what it's all about. There's no need to take things to heart. If you think someone is harassing you, ask for help. Don't deal with anything that might happen immiturally.

Girls and boys have separate cabins. The only exception to this is family members that wish to share cabins, and almost everyone has a room mate.

Normal = Boarders. The boarders were sent here for 'rehabilitation', and don't have horses of their own; Obviously. They are paired with horses from the farm or, occasionally, one of the horses that are new to the farm, if the horse in question has been broken in and the rider accepts the challenge at their novice level.

Italics = Riders. (Limated spaces.) The riders are people who have come to Oak River Stables to train or just for a holiday away from home with their horse. Most of them come from other farms nearby, and already have a pretty good riding experiance.

Denni's eyes are mostly a chocolate brown. They become darker around the edges of iris, and seem to fade and blend into the chocolate brown colour.

Denni has very blond hair, a sandy shade with darker, almost light brown highlights through it. Yes, it is natural. It is quite thin and curly, and falls around her shoulder blades.

Denni usually wears anything that is cute and comfortable, and is quite fond of vintage looking clothing. Casually, she usually wears a pair of faded jeans and a neutral or colourful shirt, or sometimes, when she's going somewhere or isn't doing much, she wears a floral or patterned dress with or without leggings.

Denni is a great lover of Converse sneakers and ballet flats, and usually leaves her extravagant side to her shoes. She loves her leopard print ballet flats, super high topped Converse, or just anything colourful. Often if she is wearing something more normal, she purposely mismatches her socks, just for something a little bit colourful.

Danni, at first sight, is quite skinny. She kind of looks like someone who doesn't eat much, which is true. Although what she lacks in size, she makes up for in height. Danni has long, curly blond hair that falls around her shoulder blades, that she always wears out or with a hairband or another accessory. Denni hates the colour of her hair and has asked her parents to let her dye it numerous times, with the same answer each time: "No Danni. Wait until you're older." Her eyes are a deep chocolate brown that you hardly notice until you look her in the eye, but are her best feature all the same. Danni has quite square, although bony shoulders from years of competitive swimming. But since she doesn't swim anymore and because of her minor anorexia, well... She's only losing weight. Danni has a very heart shaped face, with a round jaw and a pointy chin. She has a pretty good tan, and hasn't ever really been very pale.

Danni definitely hides a lot. She seems like a normal teenage girl alot of the time, but then the other half, she is completely different. She isn't really your average happy-giggly-sixteen-year-old-girl type, and is slightly shy. Not in a snobby way, but in a protective way. She hates people knowing what she's thinking, so sometimes she shuts up just to protect herself.

But when- and if- Danni opens up to you, she is very sweet and caring in her own way. But really, in her own way. Danni is very protective of the friends she makes and the people she respects. To those people, she is the kind of person who will never let you down. She has gotten into trouble at school numerous times from defending her friends. That's her weakness. Not speaking up when she needs to. Danni has a habit of letting things fly and not speaking up when she needs to, or speaking up for other people or herself when she shouldn't

Danni is always very persistent in everything, so even though she has no idea how to ride, she keeps on trying and trying. She is quite intelligent, often knowing what to say

"I... I don't... What the f*ck?"
Well... Life hasn't been amazing for Danni. Her story probably isn't nearly as bad as other's, but it shocked her into being who she is all the same. Denni had always lived a very routine life. Her parents were always very strict on their only child, always making her do her homework, wanting to know exactly where she was going and making her go to swim meets at 5:00 in the morning. Danni never knew how to argue with it. Although her life wasn't the one she wanted, she didn't know any different. That was until she met Kyle. Kyle was a rebel who lived next door, and they got together after several of Kyle's attempts at getting Danni to actually notice him.

Everything was going smoothly. Really... But after two years of dating, it started to get rough. On one fateful day, Danni snuck out to meet Kyle at an abandoned car bridge over a river, where they had met several times before. The river was flooded and the rain was pouring by the time she got there, but Kyle had turned up all the same. Everything was going fine, until they got into an argument over something. Danni tries not to remember what, but it was all down hill from there. Danni got so angry she ended up pushing Kyle to make a point. But, not being able to see through the rain, pushed him too hard and too close to the edge, and Kyle fell straight over the railing and into the water.

Yes, he survived. But he was in hospital in a medically induced coma for a week while they operated on his spine, and Denni was there the whole time. But when he came around... All he did was glare at her, look her right in the eye, and say; "Leave me alone, okay? Just... Leave me alone."

Since then, Danni was slightly shattered. After watching her boyfriend nearly drown in the water, and also subconsciously linking it to bad experiences, she developed a fear of water, that only got worse and worse. But her parents would not face the facts. They continued to push her in her swimming, and that was what caused her to crack. She developed a state of Anorexia when she began to refuse food, and barely ever spoke to people she didn't trust full heatedly. Her parents decided that enough was enough, and that Oak River Stables was the best chance of her recovery after her councilor recommended it to them, and thus begins her first year here at Oak River.

Being a Thoroughbred/Clydesdale mix, Gale is quite heavily built for a 15'3 hand horse. He has a Dapple Grey coat, giving him white spots over his steel grey parts, and white patches around his belly.

Gale is a very even tempered horse. He is the kind of horse that you can do pretty much anything on, and is usually very calm to ride along the beach or just go to new places. He has been trained in Eventing (Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross country) Though he is more of a jumper, as his Dressage side didn't work out quite as well. He was also trained a little in Cattle Cutting.

Gale has been at Oak River Stables since he was a yearling. The owner saw that he was on the market and recognised potential in him, and he's been at Oak River ever since.[size]

[size=85]Well, Gale tends to like Show Jumping and Cattle Cutting most. Show jumping, because he loves to show off, Cattle Cutting because, well... Nobody really knows why.

This gelding tends to have a shorter attention span when it comes to Dressage, or parts of riding that require concentration and patience. He also hates having water on his head, for some reason. Not particularly unusual for a horse.

"There green. Like, really green. Not hazel pretending to be green or anything."
Jack's eyes are well... Green. Perhaps his most striking feature, as they stand out so much from his brown hair and olive skin. The outer area of the iris is a dark, forest green colour, which fades into the tiny ring around the pupil, which it becomes so dark it's almost a light brown.

His hair is a medium brown, except for the sun bleached tips of his neck length mop of hair. The very tips are so very bleached that they look almost dark blonde.

Jack usually wears anything that's comfortable that has a slight bit of style to it. In summer, he usually either wears a graphic T-Shirts or a T-Shirt with a logos of something he likes, often with a cotton cowboy looking shirt unbuttoned over the top of it. With that, he usually wears some loose, faded jeans or occasionally even shorts. Though in winter he usually wears the same sort of thing only with jeans and a jacket or jumper. When he rides, he usually just wears a casual pair of riding pants and a Tee-Shirt, just something comfortable. But if he isn't training or doing alot of work he often just rides in an old pair of jeans instead.

At 170 pounds, Jack is a reasonably normal weight. He stands with reasonably good posture, which is slightly unusual for a boy of 6'1 at his age, mostly because of his experience in English riding. His brown hair tends to get in his eyes a lot, and the styling looks kind of punk or emo, but he doesn't gel it or put a whole lot of effort into it, so it tends to hang in long, straight brown strands over his neck and just the tips of his ears and eyebrows. He often brushes his hair to the side to stop his long fringe from annoying him, but not in a Justin Beiber sort of way. (*Shivers*) He has dark, forest green eyes and reasonably well muscled limbs from riding and working with horses for a long time.

Jack is really very loyal, kindhearted and sweet, he loves his horse and tries to take care of her as best he can, but he struggles with his own Dyslexia on a day to day basis. He is usually kind of cautious, especially when it comes to those he cares about, but under it all he loves anything that gives you that rush. He can often be found sketching or listening to music, even a both at the same time. Sometimes though, he tends to lean towards other things like going to concerts for his favorite bands, going for a gallop across the beach and other things of the sort.

Being a grey, Rose's mane and tail are both pretty much white. Only the colour has a slight silver grey tint to it.

White. Although white horses don't actually exist, that is the only way to describe the colour of Rose's sleek thin coat. The thin cover it provides for her long slender shape is caused by her partly Arabian breeding.

Rose's coat is compleatly white, which makes her look amazing in the snow, although her snowflake coloured coat makes her very hard to keep clean in the wet weather. She is a very slender horse, and is mostly of Arabian decent, granting her that trademark slightly dished face and pointed ears, though her features are not nearly as pronounced as a horse closer to pure Arabian.

Being an Arabian horse, Rose is, well... Opinionated. Although being an intelligent horse, she always has an alternitive view on everything. She is very protective of her rider, Jack, and can be slightly agressive towards other horses if she thinks they might be a threat to either of them. She's the kind of horse that bonds with one person at a time, meaning that while she may be a harder ride for some people, Jack finds her reasonably easy as long as they have that element of trust. She does great dressage, because of her ability to consentrate, and does alright jumping too; Although she is really more a Dressage horse because of her limated training in jumping.

Rose has been in Jack's care since she was young. She was born and raised at the Stillwater's farm, that is not far from Oak River, and has attended Oak River Stables for the last few years with him, too.
