((Love your Shoal! And also, sorry about the wait- I decided on some major edits for my character. And, since I already typed it all up, she's riding the city bus to Holley Valley, not a school bus. And the city bus totally stops at a school.))
Today was the day. Everything was focused, it seemed to Jayden, on this singular point in time: the first day of the last year of high school. For her, the only way to get ready was to obsess over the first impression outfit. Weeks before leaving to go to back to Holly Valley, best friend Mallory and little sister Lyra had spent all afternoon with Jayden, picking the top, bottoms, shoes, accessories, makeup, and everything else. It had been so much fun, and even though they were preparing her for the move again, it let Jayden forget, just for a little while, about moving away from her family and best friend and sister for another entire year.Checking her reflection in the bus window, which gave her pale skin a mottled-with-dirt image, she went over her makeup. She wasn't wearing much on her head or face, a little bit of powders to make her seem less pale, and some plum colored sunglasses with tiny rhinestones on the end. For a shirt, she had chosen a sheer pink flowery blouse over a light blue tank-top, and jean shorts. Her shoes were black lace ballet flats which she had gotten as a going away present from Mallory. In her choices she felt confident, and no one would tell Jayden that she wasn't going to be queen bee here, power people school or not.
The bus inched along the last few feet of concrete and let out a steamy grunt before pulling to a halt. Slinging her purple and white checkered backpack over her shoulder, Jayden took a deep breath and stood up, waiting for her turn to get into the narrow aisle way and climb down the metal steps. Once she had gotten out of the bus, she brushed her chocolate hair over her shoulder and opened the heavy door into the school's main building; she refused to let its massive brown brick walls and endless trophy cases intimidate her. It was cold inside and Jayden shivered, wishing that she had some sort of cardigan to cover her goose-bumped arms. Mile-long rows of lockers filled her vision, and a central staircase painted in school colors-(( Jenjo?))- led up to something looking like a library or maybe another floor of classrooms. Every wall was covered in cheesy "inspirational" posters and Jayden made a mental note of the water fountain just to her left. She had no idea where to go, but there seemed to be a person up ahead.
Jayden walked towards him, wondering if it was a good idea to ask this guy directions. He seemed pretty... intimidating. Dark brown hair fell over his face, just a little, and she noticed his tattoo over an entire shoulder.
"Excuse me..?" she trailed off, not sure how to talk to this guy. "Do you know where I should go?"
Power people are stranger than I thought!
