[Veins Of Opal]

Lucien tapped Shadowmere with his heels, starting at a walk, then a trot, then a canter, and then to a gallop down the path. He didn't need to worry about the mare getting tired, because she would simply stop in her tracks when she didn't want to go any further. Her hooves pounded the earth as they flew through the forest, leaving hoofprints on the path.

After a good few hours of riding, the sun had began to set. Shadowmere eventually slowed and stopped, planting her hooves on the ground and refusing to go further for the night. They had traveled the distance he had planned, and he knew that they would be at the Fort by tomorrow night.

[Falls]

Sigma did not react to the halt in movement. She had drifted off into a light doze somewhere along the ride and certainly couldn't be bothered to notice the sudden absence of progress through the woods. Her short dark hair hung halfway over her eyes, acting as a curtain to block out the dim light of the sunset. All in all, she was tired and was not letting go of Lucien on her own accord.

Lucien looked behind him, seeing why she didn't let go yet, to only see that Sigma had fallen asleep. "Wake up." he growled irritably, yawning himself. He certainly couldn't dismount while Sigma had her arms wrapped around his torso, anchoring him to the horse.

[Falls]

Sigma, too tired to remember who exactly she had her arms around, grumbled in reply and held Lucien tighter, burying her face in the back of his shoulder and cuddling close. Her general feeling, though muted by groggyness, was 'take that, mean waker-upper...'

That's Sigma for ya. Impulsively defiant to the very last.

Lucien gave a sigh, half-contemplating just falling asleep in the saddle. Judging by the snort Shadowmere gave, she wouldn't appreciate that. Reaching down to his waist, he worked on prying her arms off of him, a frown on his face. His hair had dried on the ride, no long sopping wet. It was tied into a neat ponytail, at the moment.

[Falls]

Sigma frowned in her doze and made a small noise of protest. How dare the waker-upper try to pry her away from this big mass of comfy? She slowly blinked her eyes open and suddenly grimaced, hasitly letting go of Lucien as if he were on fire. Well. That's embarassing. She slid off of Shadowmere and stumbled a few steps away before practically collapsing in the grass to resume her sleep. She curled up on her side, back facing Lucien and quickly fell asleep once more.

Lucien rolled his eyes as she slid away from him and on the ground to resume her sleeping. He dismounted, letting Shadowmere wander off wherever she wanted to. He laid down on his back, not even bothering with a fire. They were no longer by a stream, though. He watched the nightsky, silently seeking out the constellations as he fell to sleep.

Without a fire burning, Sigma had gotten cold in the middle of the night and had been forced to search for some other heat source to keep her from shivering. She woke up in the morning back to back with Lucien, her heat source, and sat up with a yawn. She didn't bother to wake him up immediately this time around. Instead she stood and walked over to his leather bag and got her toothbrush and food herself. After brushing her teeth and having another junk food breakfast, she looked down at Lucien's sleeping form. "Hey. Lucien." With a sigh, she stuck her arm out and dropped the bag of jerky on his chest in an attempt to wake him. "Dude, get up already."
