[Veins Of Opal]

Lucien turned to see Sigma behind him, holding out the kindling for the fire, offering help. He was silent for a moment; "Of course." he murmured in a quiet voice, taking the wood and tossing some onto the fire, keeping a longer branch to poke and prod at the burning embers to keep the fire alive.

[Falls]

Sigma also took a longer branch and walked over to the other side of the fire. This branch handily had a prong at the end of it from when it had split into two new branches at the end. Sigma used this prong to lift the branches and organize the ones on her side into what looked like the start of a mini log cabin. If she did the same on the other side and completed the "cabin", the fire would burn bright and hot for a long time.

Lucien sat down on the side of the fire opposite of Sigma, his eyes watching the unpredictable fire as she rearranged the burning logs within the fire. His face was silent, his eyes deep in thought, his expression unable to be read. Lucien was certainly a mysterious man. Of course he was.

He had much to hide.

[Falls]

Sigma crawled over next to Lucien just long enough to complete the "cabin" structure before she stood and tossed the now charred stick to the side. She went back to her spot on the opposite side of the fire from him and sat down, daring now to look up at his face for the first time in a day. To her relief, he seemed focused on the fire. She watched the fire's light play eerily over his face, casting dark shadows around his eyes and defined jaw structure. It was actually... quite beautiful.

Lucien's eyes remained on the fire, unaware that Sigma was looking at him. Strands of his long hair were loose from his ponytail, and the dancing fire reflected itself in his eyes as he watched calmly, the light casting shadows and highlights along his sharp, handsome features. He had worn, tired eyes at some moments, and at other moments, they were proud and cocky.

He was ever changing. Forever mysterious. An enigma that few could ever figure out.

[Falls]

Sigma's eyes traced over the lines of Lucien's jaw, the jut of his cheekbone and the sparkle of his eyes lit by the fire contrasting with his dark brows. She wondered what Allison had thought about all this when she first met Lucien. With thoughts of Allison drifting through her mind, Sigma laid down, curling up as close to the fire as she dared and closing her eyes to drift off to sleep.

Lucien stayed awake for quite some time. When the fire had nearly died out, he stood, going to stand beside Shadowmere at the stream. His mare nickered softly, happy to see him. Lucien gave a dull smile, patting the ebony mare gently on the neck. He pressed his lips against the side of her face, running his hand over his coat. Despite how cold-blooded and murderous he was, he still had a soft spot for his dear horse.

[Falls]

Sigma was worn out enough to the point where she slept soundly, even on the hard ground. She lay curled up on her side, back facing the dying embers of the fire as she dreampt.

Lucien had eventually retreated back to the opposite side of the fire, and, laying down, drifted into a dreamless sleep.

Sigma rolled over and sat up, only to realize that she'd rolled right into the ashes of the deceased fire. The left side of her face was now covered in soot along with the outside of her now blackened left arm. She stumbled onto her feet and walked down to the stream to clean up, kneeling down and starting with her arm.
