The Careful One----------The Careless OneIt's all your fault.
Sarabelle
I trudged through a muddy bog, kicking up mud as I went. One mud ball splattered Alex in the face.
"Hey, watch it!" he snapped. He wiped the splotch with his sweater sleeve, his blue eyes stern but glittering with amusement. "At this rate, I'll have to take a day long shower when I get home," he said, brushing away a strand of my reddish brown hair from my eyes.
I jerked my head away. "Well, if you weren't such a neat freak, it would be more fun stomping through dirty places," I said sarcastically. He smiled as I sat down and dipped my toes in a nearby pool of water. I leaned against his houlder as he held my hand. "I heard of this really steep mountain nearby. Do you want to hike it?" I asked softly.
Alex stared down at his hands. "It could be dangerous... But if you want me to come, I'll go with you," he sighed. He stood up, brushing the dirt off of his clothing. "Come on. It's all your fault if we get killed, though."

Alex
I crept along the stone slicked mountainside, clutching Sarabelle's hand, afraid to lose her. She glanced at me and pulled her hand away, wincing slightly.
"Ow," she said, clutching her hand. I could see the nail marks where I had dug in my fingers. "You know, I'm not a baby. I can take care of myself," she remarked, scowling.
"I was just trying to make sure that you wouldn't fall," I retorted, wrapping my scarf around my face to block the cold northern winds. I trudged on, shivering, until we reached the top of the peak. The sunset basked the the mountain in a warm orange glow.
"Wow.... Isn it beautiful?" Sarabelle breathed, staring in awe at the fiery sky. She narrowed her eyes at me. "Now are you glad we came?" she asked sharply.
"Yeah... I guess." I stepped closer to her, wrapping my cold, icy hand around her soft, warm one. She looked at me. I could see her blushing in the dim light. "I'm sorry," I whispered.
She smiled and rested her head againstmy shoulder like she did at the bog. "Me too," she replied softly. She leaned upward and kissed me. Warmth spread throughout my body, making me feel as if I were a baby again, snuggled into the folds of my mother's dress.
She laughed at my bewildered expression. "Come on, let's dance!" she exclaimed, grabbing my hands and twirling in a wide circle. She looked so pretty, with her auburn hair swinging around her rosy face. I laughed, my first real laugh in a long time.
We twirled around the mountaintop. Suddenly, my foot slipped and I found myself plummeting down the perilously steep mountain side. I managed to grab onto a small overhang. I clenched my teeth, but my hands lost their grip. I fell down, deep down into the darkness. The last thing I could remember is black.

Sarabelle
Beep. Beep. Beep. I blinked open my eyes, confused and dazed. I was in a white hospital room, with tubes hanging from my arm. I coughed a little, examining my crisp white hospital gown. I could never get over how horrible hospital fashion sense was.
"Oh, good. You're awake." A nurse walked into my compartment, her honey blonde hair up in a bun. "You took quite a fall there. You and your friend were found at the base of a very dangerous mountain," she explained.
"I don't understand. All I remember is that Alex disappeared, and I kept dancing. Then-" I gasped. "Alex!" I ripped out of the room, tearing through the rooms to find him. "ALEX!" I screamed. I have to find him...
I pulled open the door to a room down the hall. I sighed in relief, but then gasped in horror when I saw what happened to him. He had a deep gash across his forehead, he was hooked up to almost twenty machines, and his blue eyes were vacant and dull. I limped up to him. "Alex?"
He blinked when he saw me. "Sarabelle?" he gasped hoarsely.
I smiled. "Are you okay? You don't seem good," I whispered.
He shrugged. "Sarabelle, I'm going to die. The doctors told me this morning that I have no chance of living," he said flatly. I began to sob when he clutched my arm with his weak grip, the one that used to cradle me when I cried.
"But remember this, Sara... This is all your fault," he gasped out. Then, his head dropped, and the machine that monitored his heartbeat stopped. I knew then that I had lost him forever.
I know, it's horrible X3
Thanks for reading, anyways. It took me like an hour to write it ^^
