.....Victoria nodded, her face going red as she listened, despite her efforts it seemed her charges had been in danger while in her care. "I'm sorry I'll work harder."She watched as he relaxed casually, paying way too much attention to the movement than anyone else would've. Like the fall of his hair, the- she snapped out of it when he moved to pour whiskey, and mentally scalded herself.

She shook her head at the offer of whiskey and couldn't help comenting, "How am I to protect you and your sister if my heads not right?" She'd seen the effects drinking could have when she was younger, since she was after all a Maurier. One of the leading minds in London's underworld.

.....Alex nodded, "Sure, you know how our families hunt demons? Well I went out and bought a pony." Did it take that much figuring out to tell what he'd been up to? He was bored of attempting to get the blood out of his hair so he picked up the bowl, walked outside and upended it over his head.

Asher took the cookie, but kept it in his hand. He glanced curiously at the thing, wondering the last time he had eaten something sweet....
Coming out of his daze, he tucked the jacket inside his own. It would have to do in his jacket until they found a nice fire to completely destroy the thing. Anyway, they still had to deal with the girl before him. She was very cheerful. Almost too much so.
Glancing at Alex, he said, "Forgive me. I was simply trying to mind my job and keep you safe. That is my sole reason for being employed at your manor. To leave you now, alone at this manor, would be my gravest mistake. I'm afraid trying to be employed at another residence would be difficult if I couldn't even protect my last employer."
Coming to the end of his rant, he could do nothing more than to allow Alex to decide to leave or stay. But he thought he had a little leverage. Whispering to Alex, he added, "Though I suggest we return soon. It would be a grave incident if the demons drawn were to attack this girl and her family. Better to get going and take care of any stragglers farther away where no one would be inconvenienced."
Drawing away, he drew his blade again, but instead of attacking anything, he just studied it and waited for Alex's next move after getting his head thoroughly drenched . After all, in his position, he was a pawn to be moved by his Master. He could do nothing unless someone gave him an order and he could be moved into check.
I'll also show you a sweet dream... next night

Brier scowled at Alex. "No need for sarcasm. I meant what sort of demons were you hunting? And where?" she glanced nervously at Asher, who was studying a weapon he had pulled from somewhere on his person. "Papa won't let me hunt demons without him." she scowled again. "He treats me like a little girl." She thought about her dagger, how her aim was improving with it. She could hit a low-flying pigeon with it eight times of ten now.

..... "Parasites. I was hunting parasites. I 'walked in' on the room they were being made in - hence the blood. Basically a smoke-like monster, that crawls into wounds of dying humans and takes root in their brains... Lovely huh?" (Guide to demons.)
He handed the now empty bowl back to Brier, completely soaked through since he'd poured it straight on his head. "At the abandoned Manderly mansion... Which may have accidentally gone boom." Even though he showed no apparent signs of listening to Asher he did listen and knew that he was right.
He pushed his hair out of his eyes and smiled, "Regardless, milady thankyou for your troubles it's probably best we leave now."
He couldn't put Brier and her family in danger, it would be wrong to do such a thing. After all this girl seemed to have been left alone. Where exactly was her father? He whispered quietly to Asher, "Where exactly is this girls father? It's a bit strange to leave someone alone with the backdoor wide open - I got in here incredibly easily..."

((I have Rebecca free, other than that, Alex killed a demon and is talking to Asher and Brier. Cassandra set her dress on fire, Andrew put it out and Victoria is now talking to them.))

• lαdч rєвєccα вríghtmσσrє •
.....Lady Rebecca Brightmoore is the perfect example of a lady; gentle, kind, calm and beautiful. She even refuses to fight with the five families against demons, claiming it’s immoral and wrong. Unlike Victoria Maurier, Rebecca dresses like a lady too, with the correct under dresses, overdresses and petticoats. She even wears shoes like a normal person and has no habit of jumping out of windows.

With a groggy yawn, she stretched and clambered out of bed, before heading over to the bell pull and ringing for a maid. After all, a Lady doesn’t even bother to dress herself; she has servants for that purpose. Victoria would counter that at least she had the capability to put on a shirt if she heard about such sloth like lifestyle. A maid walked through the door after a few moments, and curtsied when she was asked to help with Rebecca getting dressed.

Over a quarter of an hour later, Rebecca was stood in a soft cornflower blue silk dress and was considering jewellery choices. After the maid walked out however she crossed to her dresser and took a holster and a short white pole from the drawer. The pole slipped into the sheath, and then got strapped to her leg. It was her weapon against demons. It lengthened into a meter and a half long staff when she wanted it to. Of course she wasn’t very skilled in using it, quite the opposite in fact.

With a soft ladylike sigh she made her way downstairs to the sitting room, “Will we be expecting any guests today?” She asked a maid.

“No m’Lady, no one has requested to come as of yet.”

~ Lucian - Abraxus - Maurier ~
"We're nothing but pawns. So move to where they want because life is just a game."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

........Lucian was not someone people interacted with voluntarily. He had a mean look in his crimson tinged eyes and he was none for more than his fair share of darker dealings. No one knew for sure what it was he did to earn so much money, but everyone could tell it wasn't the normal line of work his family tended to follow. Perhaps that's why nobody bothered him as he walked down the street with his bow gripped tightly in one hand and a quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder. Most people would have been attacked and robbed of such fine weapons, but none dared approach the raven haired boy.
........A small smirk flickered around the corner of the young man's pale lips as he noticed a small child trailing after him. Normally Lucian hated being followed, but he often found the honesty of children to be a relief from the everyday world. Checking to make sure there was no parent attached to the child, he turned down a darkened street and slowed his pace so that the small human could keep up. It didn't take long for the child, a young boy of no more than 7 or 8, to catch up.
........"Excuse me sir, but wear are you going?" The question was timid, fearful almost.
........Lucian turned slowly and rose to his full height of 6'3 as he allowed his gaze to meet with that of the boy's. Honestly, he hadn't had a destination since he'd grown bored of hunting on the outskirts of the city, but now that he was near the heart of it he needed to pick a place to wait for dusk.
........ "I'm going to the Brightmoore mansion in the center of town, I believe it would be dangerous for you to follow me there."
........The boy's face visibly fell at Lucian's words, but he seemed to be bursting with curiosity that beat out his wave of disappointment.
........"I never shot a arrow before, sir. I was wondering, and none of my friends thought I'd ask you, but could you teach me how to shoot a arrow? I'd be the only one in my family who could do it if you did teach me." Hope flickered into the boy's eyes as he asked and, for a reason he could not figure out, Lucian could not refuse the child.
........"I will find you and teach you the basics, but not today." He paused to look up at the level of the sun and his surroundings, he couldn't believe he was agreeing to teach anyone anything. "Meet me here tomorrow morning, at dawn. I will take you to the woods and we will hunt. Tell no one, bring no one. Understood?"
........Bright eyes shone with excitement as the boy nodded up and down enthusiastically. "Yes, sir! At dawn! I'll be here!"
........Lucian watched the boy disappear into the crowd, knowing he had possibly just condemned the child. There was a reason Lucian did get close to people, a reason he only showed his worst qualities to the outside world; Lucian was part of the darkness and the darkness would consume you whole.
........Shaking his head to clear it and force away the doubt that had formed in his mind, Lucian turned and continued down the darkened path to the Brightmoore mansion. He wasn't particularly fond of any of the Brightmoore's, but they were more tolerable than some of the other families.
........It didn't take long for Lucian to arrive at the mansion, maybe ten minutes had passed when he stepped foot on the porch. While he wasn't close to the Brightmoore's, he knew them well enough, and didn't care enough, so that he didn't bother knocking on the door before he walked in. The floor boards were silent under his feet as he stepped through the door and close it silently. He checked his surroundings to see if anyone else was close to the entrance hall and, finding none, followed the sound of voices up the stairs.

.....She'd taken breakfast in the sitting room, waited on by the maids as she usually was. However it was boring by herself and she yearned for company to talk to. She never tended to have company, her parents were usually out hunting demons or healing people about town and the maids were rather irritating to talk too since no matter how much she protested they would be polite to no end.

After being told by the maids there was no call to expect anyone's appearance at the household, Rebecca let herself relax by kicking off the curved heel shoes that had been bought barely a few days ago - they were beginning to cause blisters. However she only allowed herself this relaxation after making sure that the lengths of her cornflower blue dress and the masses of petticoats would hide her stocking covered feet.

The Brightmoore mansion had three levels, the first floor, the second floor and the third floor (which was really the refurbished attic) the staff occupied the basement since none of the Brightmoore family had the wish to be that cold at night and have no windows to glance out of. So as the unannounced guest walked up to the second floor, Rebecca walked down from the attic. Her white gloves picking up no trace of dust on the banister showing how well cleaned the house was and how good it's upkeep was. Perhaps it was the tangle of underskirts and petticoats she tripped on, or the just cleaned slippy floor, but as Rebecca rounded the corner, she went flying straight into Lucian with a yell.

Having no idea who the stranger was, since she had not seen his face, she panicked and pulled free the small six inch long rod from where it was strapped to her ankle. It grew into a staff a meter and a half long without need of utterance of any spell and Rebecca held it threateningly about to attempt to hit Lucian with it when she realized who it was.

"Mr Maurier! I uh..." She twirled the staff and it shrunk again as a redness came into her cheeks from her unladylike behavior. "I apologize."

◘◘The beautiful red-head stood, book clasped in one of her pale hands. Her eyes were intently focused on the small printed text, flicking back and forth as she read passage after passage. Her book really was excellent, and extremely captivating to read. She could hardly bear to look away to face her brother accusingly.

"I don't need you to look after me!" she said in a voice that was hushed, yet potent and deadly. Her face was set in stone, fire flaring up in her darkening eyes. The iris' darkened to a deep ebony, and the orange flicker of flames began to light in their depths, surging, raging, all-consuming. Her hands began to tremble and shake, her skin almost glowing with intensity. A light singing smell filled her nostrils and she watched through angry eyes as Victoria's shirt hem caught fire, quickly licking up the shirt.

◘◘Andrew watched his sister with growing dread as her hands clasped into fists at her side, his own power making itself known at the forefront of his mind. Such a shame; he had been having the most wonderful thoughts of courting Victoria. He knew it was entirely improper but her intensity and innocent beauty made him want to, and badly. He shoved those thoughts into the darkest corner of his mind, and focused on drawing the water atoms out of his drink, sending each of them to the fire.

The flames hissed as his water power hit them, and he watched Cassandra furrow her brow with concentration. Even his water power couldn't stop the all-consuming flames now. Fresh ones licked up whenever the droplets of liquid put a flame out. He felt powerless to stop it, and Victoria's name slipped out from his lips in a horrified whisper of dread.

.....Victoria hadn't honestly expected to be set on fire, and with the concentration in Cassandra's eyes it seemed purposeful and that was never a good thing. She could already feel the flames on her side, and a grimace of pain that Victoria refused to give voice, made it's way to her face within a split second.

Luckily for the girl who was slowly finding out what spontanious combustion felt like, her last name was Maurier. With a strength that only the Maurier familiy possessed, Victoria easily ripped off the rather quickly burning over shirt. Thankfully she was wearing an under shirt, which had only just begun to set on fire. As she dropped the over shirt to the floor and begun to stamp out the flames, she patted down the flames from the undershirt.

Once the flames were out and Victoria was incredibly glad that they were out, her eyes moved to glare at Cassandra. "Excuse my rude bluntness Milady but you blatantly do need someone to look after you, with you love of making human torches would you like me to go and find you a nursemaid? After all, they are supposedly best for dealing with the tantrums of children!" There was no way that Victoria was going to appologise after almost being burned alive so she simply grabbed the blackened heap from the floor and stormed over to the door which she slammed with such force that the hinges rattled.

Once outside she broke into a coughing fit from the smoke. Her eyes stung with tears and also the smoke that had billowed into them. She couldn't honestly care less right then, the raw red flesh across her front hurt incredibly so she headed off in the direction of the servants quarters where her rooms were located since that's where she kept bandages and medical supplies.
