((Sorry for not replying. I was going to say that Alex just burnt his hand, which could be a major handicap for someone like him, therefore he will probably make that his top priority... But he has no idea how to heal it and really no access to medical care for miles, so maybe if your character heard him scream? I'm not sure...))
